    Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie
    Ailun H.

My friend moved to LA less than two months ago, and everyone she knows has been nagging her to try the "Hailey Bieber Smoothie" (aka Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie) from Erewhon for TWENTY ONE DOLLARS. Gosh, even when I told friends I was visiting LA, they were telling me to drop $20+ on one of their iconic smoothies. This past Saturday afternoon, while we were exploring Culver City, my friend insisted on going to Erewhon for the true "LA experience." This Erewhon is smaller than the other ones I've been to, and I'd describe it as "Whole Foods, but 5x more pricy." Ordering the smoothie was easy since it was through a kiosk, but while we were waiting, there was a whole supply chain of 12 plastic cups waiting to be filled. The server squeezed identical syrups and purees into each one; it appears that the "Gabriela Katseye Smoothie" is the current hype. While my friend got the "Hailey Bieber Smoothie," totally behind on what's "in", everyone and their mothers were already boarding onto the latest trend. Feeling a bit defeated, my friend picked up her no longer trendy smoothie when it was ready. She debated also purchasing the Gabriela smoothie, but as a good friend, I stopped her before she made a rash decision. There's no reason for anyone to spend $40+ on smoothies in one sitting. I had multiple sips of the smoothie, which was really creamy and smooth -- much more than any other store-bought smoothie. I'm not going to lie, it was incredibly good. It was sweet, refreshing, and I'm honestly a sucker for strawberries and coconut-based drinks. Still, I don't think the price is justifiable, but what do I know? Every ingredient is organic and not sure where else I'm going to find something like "sea moss gel" in my smoothies again. My friend loved the smoothie and was smiling the whole time, definitely very proud of her purchase. I know for certain she'd be back to try every smoothie available while she's living in LA.

I come to this specific Erewhon on a consistent basis mainly because of the hot bar. In my opinion, their hot bar beats out most restaurants in the same price category in terms of taste as well as ingredients. Their food is made extremely well and Id recommend any one to try it. Everything is a la carte and there is also a combo box you can choose from. On the occasion, I shop for interesting local products at the store. The Erewhon branded drinks are also very good with low sugar. At the end of the day I am a big fan of their products as well as hot foods and hot drinks. I would recommend anyone to try it. People may be shocked at the price tag but in reality their prices are on par of not better than most other places when you consider the quality and ingredients with everything they use. Staff is always friendly and welcoming. There is Erewhon specific parking on the basement second level in the garage.

Erewhon has become my favorite. I find myself here every weekend lol Huge shoutout to Victor assistant store director who was so kind and patient and gave my husband a great first time experience here this past weekend. My favorites are the smoothies/drinks, the hot plate bar and the sushi. Expensive yes but everything is GREAT QUALITY. I personally haven't gotten groceries on from here but I do utilize the above mentioned. I've tried many smoothie/drinks but this new jhene aiko west side whimsey is TOP TIER!

I had to try it for the bit but the coconut was not in the room with us. It tasted purely of pineapple and I do not like pineapple juice. I feel like I got baited.

Ordered their bacon egg burrito, croissant, the strawberry glaze skin smoothie & the scratch vanilla latte. I would say skip the burrito, my bacon was really over cooked unfortunately so I'd get something else next time. I liked my smoothie and you could taste the blend of all the ingredients, I'd get it again but it's very pricey. My friend loved her croissant but didn't enjoy her coffee.

I gave in to my curiosity and was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the food and overall experience was. Getting the elephant out of the room.... yes, this is essentially an overpriced grocery store with an expensive smoothie bar. While I still can't rectify the smoothie prices in my head, the overall pricing at the hot bar felt fair for the variety of food and quality of ingredients. This location in Culver City is great. It rained the entire time I was visiting LA, but we parked in the underground parking garage and took the elevator directly into the store and avoided getting wet completely (can't say the same for the rest of the trip). Store is very clean and well stocked with a lot of delicious food and unique grocery products. Service is excellent too. An employee noticed we wanted to order something that was temporarily out of stock, and kept an eye on us the whole time until she was able to restock it. We visited a couple of times over a few days and shared a variety of food and smoothies: - Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie (3.5/5): A bit overly sweet and didn't taste very unique, but is expensive from some of the ingredients like sea moss. Still enjoyable to drink, but definitely not an exclusive flavor experience. - Boka Mint Condition Smile Smoothie (3/5): Another end-stage capitalism collab. The mint flavor was nice but tasted more like peppermint. Texture is a little icy too. Would have liked it to be slightly creamier. - Malibu Mango Smoothie (5/5): Loved this one! Definitely a must-try if you're a fan of mango or tropical flavors. - Steak and Egg Burrito (5/5): Also a favorite. Really well made breakfast burrito with steak, egg, cheese, bell peppers, and hash browns. Would get this again. - Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice (5/5): Another favorite. Would have thought this was from a sushi restaurant if I didn't know any better. Would definitely get this again too. While I definitely don't think that the products here don't need to be this expensive, I do agree that the hype is real for a reason. - Ambiance: 5/5 - Food: 4/5 - Service: 5/5

TLDR: Expensive but worth the hype and tasty! Erewhon is a great spot to check out if you want high end groceries - they have all the clean, gourmet brands across all types of groceries. this was my first time trying the highly talked about hot bar. Here's what i got: (i am vegetarian) - Tofu Stick: solid, very flavorful - not super crispy but the tofu is nice and firm - Avocado Cucumber Salad: also delicious, the smashed cucumber and avocado work so well together - super fresh - Miracle garlic noodles: star of the show - amazing flavor but this doesn't fill you up since it's made from a low calorie alternative (not your typical wheat) I spent ~$30 for all of this so definitely on the pricey side but very tasty food! Curious to see if they will add more vegetarian options (perhaps more Indian inspired flavors?)

Tried the $20 Hailey Bieber Strawberry Skin Glaze Smoothie Was it a good smoothie? YES! Great flavor and sweet (but not too sweet) and creamy. Pretty yummy! Was it worth $20? .... HELL NO! lol

5/5 for this $21 smoothie experience. My wallet is crying but my cells are thriving !!! The quality is undeniably top tier! You can actually taste that they aren't using cheap frozen fruits. The service: lighting fast !! It's expensive and crowded -- but I will absolutely be back next time.

On the girls list of places to go, to try their smoothies. D2 got the Hailey Bieber and D1 got the Kali Uchi. Overrated. D2 said it was okay, but not worth the $20 price point and D1 didn't care for hers much and definitely not worth the $23 price point. Good thing I didn't have to pay for it. But they can say they tried it, and they don't need to again. The gentleman at the cashier taking orders was very personable. It was giving Whole Foods vibes. The location was rather small but serviceable for the area I suppose. Plenty of parking in the garage. I felt like the Trader Joe's across the street had better spacing inside.

Went in for the first time today FINALLY to see what the hype was about after I had a yoga class right next door, just to add a cherry on top of my great day ! I checked out some salads, some of the hot food & made my way to the infamous smoothie section. I wasn't sure where to order or find the menu so I asked a black female employee who was standing near by, handling a make-up cart where I could find the menu . She graciously smiled & guided me to the computer & paper menu. I met this other black gal who was also there for her first time! We mingled, helped each other through the smoothie menu, ordered 2 smoothies then went to check out some of the sushi. We were standing there deciding on which sushi we wanted & as i looked past her, there was a male employee who was literally reaching in front of her face to put some edamame on the shelf .. I noticed he didn't say one word & she had to shift entirely 1 foot over to the right to allow some space between them because he didn't say excuse me & she had no idea he was even next to her. Mind you, his arm was literally right in front of her face & that's how she noticed he was even there ... We didn't even comment on it but I noticed.. so then we made our way to the cash registers to pay for the sushi. She got called over first, then I did. As I was getting cashed out, I realized I forgot soy sauce, so I asked the lady that was cashing me out " Oh! I didn't notice any soy sauce . Where can I get some or do we pay for it separately ? " her exact answer with the straightest face- no smile "It's over there!" No gesture, no nothing .. so i smiled & said " thank you ", then walked away.. While waiting for our smoothies, I told the gal I was with of the unpleasant response I received from the front clerk. I also reminded her of the way that male employee basically acted like she wasn't standing there while putting the edamame away & she said she was glad I brought it up because she almost didn't think anything of it or how rude it was, until I mentioned the experience with the clerk. We got our smoothies, took photos and parted ways happy w. our smoothie & sushi choices, but also with a bad taste in our mouth .. I stated to her that I'd rather try Whole Foods for the first time if Erewhon treats their customers like this or how i felt today, especially the black customers .. Not assuming all are this way but those 2 specific employees made 2 black women feel less than in especially, Black History Month . We decided to not say anything but i do hope management sees this review to assure service is always provided with a smile as the black employee handling make up did, regardless of her race . She seemed more willing to help w. something so simple . The front clerk stating " it's over there ", without pointing or being specific to the area, seems rude & I felt like she was trying to brush me off .. obviously after she said that, i just walked back over to the section ( assuming that's what she meant ) to find it myself, but she was very unhelpful & rude. I was willing to spend money here today but if it wasn't for the first employee helping & the taste of the food, i WOULD NOT be back & will definitely go to another one next time, but not for quite some time after today . Please smile at customers, be mindful of space by saying excuse me if you're in someone's face trying to do your job & helpfully guide someone in a kind way when customers need help. I would think they get paid enough there to at least smile at people & use their manners . Customer service - 0 / 5 Speed - 4 / 5 Aesthetic - 5 / 5 Taste - 3 / 5

Yes this place is WILDLY expensive compared to a Trader Joe's or Sprouts, but for many of the items and their food quality I think you get what you pay for. I absolutely love their hot bar and soups (keep the jars and you can return for a credit). They don't use terrible seed oils or junkie fillers in their products and you know you are getting a high quality product. Customer service is always top tier and shelves are stocked and organized. Parking anywhere around the Culver City stairs is going to be nutty so if you can I'd recommend popping in on off hours otherwise be prepared to navigate some tight grocery isles.

What We Ordered: -Hailey Bieber's Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie $20 "If I had a million dollars" I probably wouldn't shop here. It was cool to come here and check it off the list of things to do in LA. Erewhon is too expensive for us regular folks! I will say that the supermarket is very pleasing to the eye. I enjoyed seeing different end caps and displays. I wanted to take the wife here to try one of their famous smoothies. We got the infamous Hailey Bieber's Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie. The cashier was very friendly and personable and let us know it would be a 20 minute wait for our drink. We popped into Trader Joe's across the street to do some shopping while we waited. They text you when your drink is ready to be picked up. That's a nice feature! The Hailey Bieber's Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie was very good. Very fresh and sweet tasting! It was a great smoothie! Was it worth $20? No, it was not, but it was worth a try. I won't lose any sleep over spending $20 on a smoothie especially if it makes the wife happy. Happy wife, happy life!

It barely had any sugar in it, which I loved because coffee shops usually never have healthier options. He also really liked it, which is a win! I also tried the vegan chocolate chip cookie and shared it with two other people so we could all give it a try. We all loved it! I got the Iced 7th Inning Stretch, and mannnn oh man, it really shocked me with how unique the color and the taste were! Like I've said before, sadly some coffee shops have the looks but not the taste. This place has both, win win again! My boyfriend got the hot mocha latte, and that was really good too. Service: The cashier was super nice, and I told her it was my first time visiting. She explained every seasonal drink they had and even let me know one of them had peanut butter in it in case I had any allergies. I really appreciated that! Good thing I gave it a try because I usually don't like peanut butter, but this was so good (honestly, I couldn't even taste the peanut butter for anyone who's like me). I ended up going back and ordering another drink. This time it was another cashier, and she was just as nice! I asked for it without ice and explained how I still wanted it to taste really good and not watered down. She said she'd do me the favor of separating everything into cups. That kind of service is definitely memorable! Ambiance: Inside was super cute. I loved that there were small tables for people coming alone, and there was also a huge table in the back near the restroom with a big window that could seat at least 5-7 people. They had music playing but at a nice, comfortable level. Parking was super easy to find outside. I didn't ask if they have a parking structure, but they might. The only thing I didn't like was that there were no toilet seat covers in the restroom. It was super clean, but I always like to use those just to be safe. That's the only thing I'd say needs a little work. Overall, 10/10 for customer service, ambiance, and food/drinks! I will definitely be coming back!
