Stephen responded quickly and professionally to our inquiry, quoted a reasonable price - which fell in the middle of two other quotes. He and his crew went above and beyond expectations, including leveling off the sides with topsoil and patching up parts of another pathway. We were fully expecting to have to repair our electric dog fence upon completion, but they worked very carefully to preserve it - and took good care with our landscaping. He showed up when he said he would and finished when he said he would. We have gotten a lot of compliments from neighbors.

It is hard to find a good brick mason: someone who understands the physics of how brick and mortar…read moreworks. I know just enough about it to understand how it can all go wrong, and I've felt taken advantage of by contractors before, and so when I got to the point where I felt I could no longer tolerate the deterioration I was observing in my garage, I went to look for a mason. I asked around a lot. The boutique guys, preservationists, and artisans mostly didn't get back to me. One failed to inspire confidence. Another guy stood me up. Another wouldn't go into the city. One never got me a quote. Another guy was very nice and knowledgeable but quoted me a price so high that it had me looking at DIYing it. The search was not pleasant. Brick brothers was different. Stephen understood my concerns about the materials and the work that was needed, he showed an understanding of the principles of brick and mortar masonry on par with the fancier guys, and he quoted me a price I could actually afford. My only critique would be that the written quote lacked detail, but we adequately covered the scope of work verbally. It took two Saturdays, and I'd rough guess 48 man-hours. I'm so glad I didn't have to go the DIY route. Now the way brick goes it's probably at least 5 years before one can be certain that the work is right, but based on my conversations with Stephen and my own observations of his work, I'm confident that I'll see no spalling on the repaired areas. And having seen a few rains since the work was done, I can already report that I'm no longer seeing water infiltration in the repaired areas. So for brick repair needs, Stephen of Brick Brothers hits that rare intersection of competence and price which makes his work a great value. I would absolutely recommend him for any brick masonry needs.

Paid $3650 to C A C for 140 sq ft concrete slab. Work initially seemed ok but we were left with a…read morebit of mess which turned into a spot of bother. CAC workers were on time and showed up reliably, which was helpful. The front and back of slab were plumb, no issues - but the left and right sides were not square as measured using the 3-4-5 square method, creating a problem for tile work. The discrepancy was enough to delay tile install by another contractor. It had to be made right or the tile surface would have been uneven and unattractive. When asked to inspect his work product and make it right, the owner Carlos responded that his measurements were perfect and he had made no mistakes. What could have been resolved with action and accuracy instead led us to hire someone we trust (a different yelp-verified business) who squared the slab and lumpy surround expertly. Their work wasn't bad but the part that wasn't good was mishandled with a closed attitude, unpleasant communication and delays. Finally we recovered $300 of the $450 we incurred to fix the surface and get on with tiling. But not without stress or dramatics. C A C Masonry owner used pressure tactics to get me to remove my factual review, and when I sent his text to Yelp Business, they encouraged me to repost. Their message in photos. If you hire them, do it by the book. contract, communication and course-correct as needed on the spot. Pay attention!

He took the time to explain everything and came to my house a few times prior to the job to go over what I wanted. This job exceeded my expectations. The guys Tony has working for him, including his son, are so polite. They cleaned up everyday before they left and when the job was complete everything looked great. I look forward to working with these guys again for my deck.

The contractor is run by an older, old-fashioned Italian father who is truly a professional and…read moreruns a highly experienced concrete construction company. Mr. Purrazello, the father, does not cut corners and is the type of contractor to show the job, explain what you want, listen closely to what he says, agree on the work scope, award the job, then walk away. He's going to deliver a five-star product, and more importantly with concrete, will likely stand the test of time; and, he won't cut corners. These characteristics of integrity, professionalism, knowledge of the industry, dependability, and honoring one's word is rare today. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending how you look at it, this firm is unlikely to be a low bid. But, as I discovered from working with them just one time, it's a company you can trust. That's old-fashioned. Not cutting corners, again old-fashioned. My experience is that these traits of high quality and fulfilling one's commitment are unusual in today's residential construction marketplace. I was astute enough in talking with the father to recognize he was a true, professional Craftsman and to trust his decisions. Now I am left with a backyard patio, in which everyone who sees it says, it's absolutely beautiful! It came out much nicer than I expected and originally called for; and, I am appreciative for it. Going into the project, I simply wanted a basic slab-on-grade patio with a few engineered features that was low cost. What was delivered was a beautiful, constructed better-than-originally-designed, backyard patio. My advice on this contractor to the General Public is: if this firm gives you a price and they are close to your budget, hire them immediately and look no further. Additionally, if you don't want to roll the dice and play games with most residential concrete contractors, simply agree on a work scope and price with this firm then sole source award the job to them. They won't let you down. Why? Because these characteristics of high quality and integrity are very unusual amongst residential contractors, in my experience and opinion. In closing, I must mention that unless the son Joey bid the work as was done in my case, it was likely the only way Purrazello could have won the work. The father and the sons (Joey & Matt) are tremendous craftsmen and I wish them all the best going forward. Again, thank you Purrazello & Sons for a most excellent job! Take care.
