The gym is 'ok', you can see the other reviews for the pros and cons. What I find frustrating is to pay $200+ a month for a membership and then get a parking ticket for parking in the gym parking lot while doing a workout! You would think rather than using a third party and sending tickets in the mail, they would work directly with their customers. I guess the issue here is that after doing a workout I got a snack from a local business and then returned to my car. If this is a violation of my contract, fine, come talk to me, but having a third party send a bill in the mail threatening me with collections is passive aggressive and terrible customer service. Maybe they'll squeeze a couple extra bucks from people by doing this, but it seems like a classic example of "penny wise, pound foolish" since in the long run you'll just alienate your customers. read more

WARNING! PREDATORY PARKING COMPANY! I went 15 minutes over the 2.5 hour limit and there is no grace period like there was before. If you are in that parking garage over 2.5 hours you WILL get an $80.00 ticket in the mail with threats of sending it to collections if you do not pay within 30 days! And whatever time you hit the parking garage is your start time (photo is taken of your car)- not the time that they give you through the website when you register! SCAM! There are multiple other reviews here pointing out this insane and predatory company. I have contacted Equinox management to push them to do something about this. I will be moving to Lifetime South Lamar or Club Studio (that has a lap pool!) if they don't change something. They also need to: - Install lighting for the road coming into the parking lot. It's completely pitch black at night with people, cars and Waymo's all around. Someone is eventually going to get hurt. - Fix the AC! It crazy to be working out in the heat. - Rethink the equipment they have moved around. If you are on a machine you are now eyeball to eyeball with someone across from you. It is very uncomfortable. And easily fixed. - Fix random issues in the locker room that have been reported. It's like there is no maintaince manager like there used to be. The fees keep going up (an extra $17 a month this year) and the experience keeps getting WORSE. This is a call to Equinox management to focus on your members again and get some of these long running issues dealt with! I came here to give the perspective of someone who's been attending this gym since November 2019. I signed a contract for a gym that wasn't even completed months before it opened because a friend of mine referred me and had experienced Equinox in other cities he lived in previously and gave me the whole accountability buddy promise.  Is this the best gym in Austin? Depends on what you're looking for, but for me, it has been. On a good week, I'm here 4 days and on an exceptional week, I'm here 6 days. With your membership, you get access to the on-demand classes through the app, so when you're traveling, you can still take a video class wherever you are. Is it perfect? No, but have you shopped around to see what other gyms are charging for a monthly membership while offering fewer amenities and less variety in classes? I've had my gripes about the place, but when I let them be known in a survey, a staff member contacted me to let me know they'll take it into account. I can't speak for personal training or the spa as I have yet to use either of those services, but I can safely say that I enjoy all the classes offered- HIIT, cycling, strength training, running, yoga, pilates, and barre. The instructors are rad as hell and genuinely want you to excel at what you came for. I've seen some great ones go recently, but I'm thankful to have met them and had their support to push me along the past few years. There was a Roots Juice Bar pre-Covid in the lobby, but that closed and they've just recently opened a new cafe called Matcha Mama that I still need to try. The Shop in the lobby is a bit small, but it's got a good range of clothing, accessories, skincare, and even Khiel's products for sale. They send you a discount on your birthday to buy yourself something, too. Parking is readily available in the garage shared with the apartment complex behind the building. If you come during peak hours, you maybe be going up more floors than you'd like but a minor inconvenience. Although, I will say that if you don't get your parking ticket validated properly or accidentally scanned an old one like I did one time, you will end up paying $15 just to exit. (Not my finest moment.) If you're an early riser, though, there's plenty of street parking on S. Congress if you don't want to deal with the hassle of the garage.  Equinox is no longer the only "luxury fitness" offering in Austin, but if it meets your personal requirements then there's some value in the membership. read more

As an all-locations member for many years, I have visited a dozen different equinox locations. This is consistently the most poorly run equinox location I've experienced. There is literally always something wrong or out of order. Just in the last month the steam room has been out of service two separate times for multiple days in a row. Multiple machines are down. TVs above treadmills have been broken and frozen on the same image for 4 days in a row. They closed early on 11/26 for a "holiday" (on a Sunday 4 days after thanksgiving) without telling members ahead of time, and I had a janitor literally yell at me for walking through an area being mopped in the middle of the day in the gym area (there was no way to go around it). This year the most of the men's locker room showers were down for like 5 months for what seemed like a very simple repair. The reality is Austin is growing so quickly that the management team is allowed to not really care about the existing members here. They just care about new sign ups. The consistent faultiness of equipment and amenities are a clear signal of neglect and lack of care to fix from the people in charge. Im sure this would be obvious looking at the churn data for this equinox location and I have heard as much from an employee I know. If you care about getting what you pay for - at one of the most expensive gym memberships in the country (I pay $300) - there are far better options in Austin where the people taking your money actually care to provide the service they sell you. Unfortunately this Equinox is not worth the price. When you're paying almost 300 dollars a month, you expect things to be much better. Especially the small stuff. For context, in my photos you see a mess and no towels, it was like that when I started my workout, and when I finished it an hour later. Some of the showers don't work, the handles on the shower are loose and don't turn properly. It just feels like no one cares. Maybe it starts from the management, I'm not sure. I'm from LA and have family that lives in AUS, so I was EXCITED that EQX was coming to my home town. Here's my review: PROS - Kiehls products, galore! - Multiple levels + feels like a spa - Machines are maintained and feel new - Parking is convenient - Classes are amazing - Neighboring S.Congress area - COVID-friendly sanitization CONS - Only one location, so I hope they open uno mas! I used to love working out during peak hours, but I have to admit that it's nice to get in and out without waiting. I haven't been since they first opened, but I know how well-maintained the LA locations are kept up. I received many corporate emails to the local GMs on what they are doing to my local gym to keep it COVID-friendly, so the transparency was amazing. Not only that, they did more than what neighboring gyms are doing, as you have trainers helping to create a safer environment as well. When the classes were going pre-COVID, you are literally paying for SoulCycle to Barry's Bootcamp type of classes, but then you have an entire gym with accessible trainers if you need it. Does it cost a lot? Yes, but you pay for what you receive. If you utilize the classes, take showers with the Kiehls products (I mean, why wouldn't you, haha), and know that they have cleaners around the clock sanitizing equipment, it's a great lifestyle gym. I am temporarily staying up north, so making the trek down south was negative for me (but that doesn't reflect on the outstanding gym + staff). I pray we get out of COVID, gyms, and normalcy returns, and EQX opens up a gym up north, then it's all positive for me! read more

There's enough general negativity online that I'm going to start with a positive. As someone noted below, there's a maintenance guy with a dark baseball hat that hustles and keeps things looking good when he's there. But that's it... The whole place is slack and poorly run. This gym has been in a constant state of disrepair since I joined several years ago. 5 of the 9 showers are broken. That's right, a majority. They have been that way for a long time with no sign of activity as far as I can tell. 1 of the 3 water fountains has been broken for a year. They blame the building contractor but the company, as in Equinox, needs to own it. If they lack the ability to make sure their facilities are constructed properly then they shouldn't be in this business. The private equity firm that owns Equinox simply needs to ante up the maintenance costs and fix it. And then fix whatever it is about their company that can't build gyms properly. Tonight there was a line to get into one of the 4 working showers (with as mentioned 5 not working). So I figured I'd go into the steam room. Which isn't always working but was this evening. When I get out at 5:45 to take a shower (the gym closes at 6), I found the maintenance guy has removed all the soap and shampoo from the 4 working showers and told me "the showers are closed." What?! I told him about the wait and at least he went and got soap so the 5 or so other people standing around in towels and me could take showers. He told me to be quick or "he would get in trouble". Wait, he would get in trouble for letting a gym member shower, after waiting to get into one of the few working showers they have, but before the gym had actually closed? You can't make this up. I take a shower, and go out to a locker room littered with towels and overflowing towel bins. (see photo). The towel bins/locker room frequently look like this. The woman working the front desk was making a stream of loud announcements, about 5 or 6 that the gym was going to close. She really wanted to get out of there. The ironic thing about this being the most expensive gym in town is that it closes earlier than any of the others - 6 on weekends (or really 5:45 I guess). Almost every employee (with the exception of the trainers who seem good and the maintenance guy with the hat) from what appear to be managers on down seem to be standing around chatting/texting all day. They have a smoothie bar. But it is empty and just sits there. They tried subcontracting it out at one point. That somehow didn't work and appear to lack the initiative to just run it. There's also a refrigerator with nothing in it. Apparently also not enough initiative to even put prepackaged smoothies or protein shakes in there. Two weeks ago they had a table out with balloons and little paper bags with the names of their maintenance staff. I walked up because I thought this might be for a charity. No. It was to give money to their maintenance staff. I am highly sympathetic to the fact that a lot of people don't get paid a living wage in this country. But the sheer tokenism of this made me angry. I can guarantee you the private equity owners of Equinox are doing very very well. PAY YOUR PEOPLE. Don't put a balloon table out for a few days. It's ludicrous. I really dislike rants. But I've given this place a good three years, and the sad fact is all of the above is true. The only reason I go there is because it's close. I no longer think that's a good reason when a place is this bad. Go elsewhere, save your money and support a company that takes better care of its employees and is at least functional. read more

They advertise for a spa but "don't offer it at this location" when there is quite literally a spa section at this location. I pay $300 for a premium experience but am getting Planet Fitness level service. Not only that, but I got extremely sick after I first joined because of the lack of cleanliness. "Going to the gym" is about more than pumping iron these days, and Equinox elevates the experience to feeling first-class. The lovely Grace took me on a tour of their 3-story facility with indoor/outdoor spaces for weight training, yoga, reformer Pilates, cycling, and traditional cardio-dynamic workout classes. They have 3 tiers of expert trainers, Isaac being able to design a fine-tuned nutrition plan to achieve results for optimal fitness. Not to mention you'll find some of the best teachers (Élese on yoga/pilates) and most attractive gym-goers in Austin, to speak of motivational community! Atmosphere feels like the finest hotel, with lavender-scented towels, Kiehls toiletries, ceramic hair straighteners, and a steam room to purify any lingering doubts. They also have corporate rates for locals, distinguishing their customer-focus from other larger chains. I withhold one star as there aren't quite enough machines to keep sets moving during peak hours, but perhaps they just need a little more space, or another location?! The future will tell. read more

Equinox is the best gym in Austin. The staff are friendly, the classes are incredible, the facility and equipment is top notch, and the amenities make it feel like a spa experience. When I joined one of my immediate questions were about parking, and I can say after being a member for 6 months I've never once had an issue. I come in the early mornings usually (but sometimes midday or evenings), and again, never had a problem finding a spot. Another was about the cost. It's worth it if you go, so go. I take a spin class everyday and would be paying 2x to 3x more for these quality of classes (they're just as good as Soul Cycle), so I have no issue with the cost. They also have laundry and locker service! One thing that really surprised me too was they actually fold your clothes, it's not just stuffed into a clean laundry bag, which I thought was a nice way to elevate what the service. Another thing to add is I don't look the equinox type; I'm a big guy and approaching 40 haha. I've never felt unwelcome or not allowed or looked down upon there. In fact, I've felt the opposite: welcomed, championed, and supported. Seriously, they're the best. Overall, I can't recommend Equinox enough. I suggest you go elsewhere and do not join. There is very little that is good about the Equinox in Austin. location is the only good thing. There are constantly issues with the club, no water, no hot water, broken equipment, broken steam room(almost weekly). Dirty bathrooms, no towels, and over crowded. Trainers sitting in the middle of workout areas in their computers. I spoke to someone about cancelling and was promised a call back. That was 3 months ago. when I signed up the lady looked right at me and said I would have no problem cancelling, that was a lie as well. there are lots of reviews saying the same things. read more

The facilities at this equinox just aren't up to par. Its's small and doesn't have amenities like most of the other equinoxes. I don't love the classes either. The only class that has kept my coming back Is Monique French's 7:15 am yoga class on Tuesday's. She is an incredible teacher and sings during class. It is so relaxing and a wonderful way to get your day started. I should provably cancel my membership. You would be better served to go to Lifetime or really any other gym that doesn't require you to take out a second mortgage on your house to be able to afford it. read more

Most of the people are great, but top management are corporate puppets that refuse to acknowledge the issues present. The paper towel dispenser has never worked. They are using products that are not meant for showers, so they will grow mold. The giant dust bunny? That was the first class in the main studio that evening, so between noon and 5 no cleaning had been done. The walkway from the parking garage floods, so you have to walk into oncoming traffic when its raining. Please keep in mind I voiced these issues as they came up since November, and not a single one has been addressed. I've sent numerous emails, filled out feedback surveys, and spoken with the main puppet. Still nothing. read more

This is really the worst Equinox location you'll ever go to. I've been feeling this way for a long time but when my instructor didn't show up for a class today and they gave us a 25% off coupon to a spa service, it kinda sent me over the edge. The products in the locker room frequently get changed out to watered down "equinox" products and lotion that sits on your skin. The steam room never has steam in it. Like I'm not even kidding unfortunately. You'd think spending all this money they'd have a sauna or a cold plunge. Just counting down the days I can switch to lifetime. read more

Equinox gyms are fantastic and are my favorite places to workout. However, the new management at this location lets the whole gym fall apart. It's also unfortunate because it's the only Equinox location in Austin. The gym became dysfunctional to a critical point. For example, men's steam room was out of service for months - sometimes it's functional, but more often it's not. Showers are not adequately cleaned. Showers won't drain properly, so you have to stand in a puddle while you shower after a workout, and believe me - it's gross. Weak water pressure. The thick layer of mold growth on the tile and the inside of shower recessed shelves - something you would not see at other Equinox locations. HVAC issues, fans on the floor. And so on... I won't cancel my Equinox membership because I enjoy it a lot at other locations. Sadly, this one is the only location in Austin, and it's not great. I hope the management at this location will step up their game sooner than later. read more

Ok, can I live here please? I signed up for Equinox after my friend convinced me. Hey, it's down the road from work, you get a 5 day free trial, and your deposit is refunded if you change your mind after the 5 days. What do I have to lose? First off, Amanda is absolutely amazing. From the first email, to our phone call, to meeting her in person, and running into her at the club, she has been so nice and friendly! You can always tell when someone loves their job and the people they interact with! I am always happy to see her when I walk in. The club itself is so stunning. Very modern and chic. You are always greeted by someone to check in. If it's your first time, they are more than happy to give you a tour! The locker rooms are gorgeous and stocked with everything you need! Honestly, you only need to bring your workout clothes, change of clothes, and reusable water bottle. They provide the rest! All the equipment is super updated. You can link you Apple Watch to the machines, which is awesome! I was able to workout, and if I had any questions, I could ask the trainers on the floor. Don't forget the eucalyptus towels to cool off! I have yet to try a class, but that is on the agenda. I'm so glad I joined equinox and making it part of my routine. After reading some of these borderline hilarious bad reviews I feel compelled to share my experiences with Equinox in Austin. I've been a member since the gym opened a few years ago and am highly satisfied with my experience. That's not to say there haven't been opportunities. For example the laundry service lost one of my most treasured shirts a few months ago. But as soon as I alerted the staff they leapt into action and within a few days they had not only recovered my shirt but also gave me a gift card for the trouble. I had a medical procedure last year and management didn't hesitate to place my membership on hold for the months it took me to recover. Since returning to the gym I've had to be very careful so as not to cause any issues with my back. The management recommended a trainer named Zach to help get me started. Zach has been the best! He takes his time to show me the proper form for each exercise and makes sure I don't do anything that could aggravate my back issues. Overall I'm highly satisfied with the team at Equinox. There are issues with crowded parking and some locker room maintenance, but that is not enough to lose even one star in my opinion. read more

People are friendly and nice, the equipment is top notch, great spa like facilities, and wonderful group classes! I don't get the fuss of all the low reviews they got cause the place is the nicest gym I have ever joined! I guess people rate it low because they compare it to 24 hour fitness or golds in terms of pricing... which it is more expensive than other joints. But very worth the investment if you have the budget! But I tell you what! When I email or call for a refund, he ignores my messages. I have had to file a complaint with my credit card company to get a refund. Joiner earlier this year and am very impressed with the quality of Equinox Austin. I was previously a member in NY and was pleasantly surprised to find the ATX location is up to snuff as it relates to cleanliness, equipment, and atmosphere. I had an issue with parking and it was resolved by the manager / I was refunded, so no complaints with management's willingness to solve problems! Some things that could be improved / not ideal: - parking is annoying and in a neighboring apartment complex, with frequent issues with the turnstile leading to additional credit card charges and occasional lines to get out. Need to find a longer term sustainable solution - facility is beautiful but rather small / perhaps underutilized space. tons of treadmills that are never full, but free weight area / bench press / squat rack typically is high demand during peak hours and can have 20min wait etc. may want to reconsider flow / machines / equipment proportions Great facility overall and I'm so happy with my experience. read more

At first I was hesitant to spend so much money on a gym membership. But I finally decided it was worth the investment for my health. I figured the unlimited workout classes would motivate me... and it definitely has! Best investment I've made for myself. The gym is so nice, such a great atmosphere. There are all kinds of workout classes at all times of day. The sign up for classes on Equinox app is easy & user friendly. Want to shoutout the friendly staff, especially Haley L at the clothing shop & Penelope, but everyone else as well! Also, the bathrooms are so nice. There are lockers, many hygienic toiletries (moisturizers, tampons, hair tools, etc), showers, steam room, etc. Overall, love it! read more

|~~HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND~~| *Gave 2 stars as its still clean gym compared to most big box gyms like LA Fitness _________________________________________________________________ It's a nice gym with towels and a steam room but they put themselves into the same market as boutique gyms - which they are NOT. They are at best a CLEAN VERSION OF LA FITNESS/24 HOUR FITNESS. I made the UNFORTUNATE DECISION to buy a year's membership before the Austin gym was opened. The gym and weight areas are SMALL. Classes get PACKED almost immediately. If you want to sign up for an AM class good luck, they fill up quickly and you can sign up 26 hours in advance so make sure to set an alarm for 4AM. When I signed up it was said that there were classes at all times so getting in a yoga class wouldn't be an issue at all. That is not the case, there are very limited classes of each, and the times are all over the place so getting into a routine is difficult. Based on how much you're paying $180/monthly - it's NOT WORTH IT. If you want classes, go to an Orange Theory or any other proven training methodology. Equinox simply ISN'T WORTH THE COST AT ALL. The gym on its own is close to a hotel gym size (maybe a large hotel but still its DISAPPOINTING AT BEST). The floor is PACKED with trainers trying to get you to work out with them so they can try and sell you a training package. Let's get to the actual gym floor, there are machines if that's what you're looking for but hardly any real weight areas. There are (3) benches in the gym, there are (4) squat racks - this is a little crazy considering its a (3) story gym. Half of the complex is simply a bathroom. The bathrooms were supposed to be state of the art, and just the best thing in existence. Prepare to be DISAPPOINTED. The steam rooms smell like some sort of musk that can only be described as "old pipes". They also never seem to have towels on hand and anyone that works in the locker room always seems to have an attitude and aren't helpful. Last but not least -- they are now one of the worst brands I have dealt with during COVID-19. Unfortunately, my girlfriend lost her job during COVID-19, we got in contact with them and let them know that she needed to get out of her contract. They said that they WOULDN'T let her out of the contract unless she was seriously injured or couldn't exercise due to COVID-19. This was a seriously disappointing act on their part as she needed to move almost 200 miles away due to unemployment. I would recommend staying away from this gym/brand. It's overpriced, they under-deliver, and you don't get to benefit from utilizing as many classes as possible due to not being able to sign up. I really love this gym and am surprised to see so many low reviews. I've been a member quite a while, but posting a review today because I've been so appreciative of the administrative staff recently. Time and time again they've proved to be helpful and understanding. For example, back when I was going to Equinox in California, they didn't give me a hard time at all when I wanted to cancel my membership during Covid, and they let me re-join this year at the new Austin location without a fuss or new activation fee. I needed to travel out of state for a month, and when I requested they freeze my membership during that time, they happily agreed. This flexibility is a big deal to me because it takes away the whole gym-membership-anxiety thing. More importantly though, the gym itself is awesome, and I have no complaints whatsoever when it comes to the facilities. It's my favorite place to be in Austin! *If I could make any suggestion though, I'd love to see more squat racks added because it can be hard to get one :) read more

I'll start off by saying that I literally only need the weight and cardio equipment. That being said, their weight machines are limited. There's a lack of hammer strength machines and only a few squat racks. Additionally, parking is super inconvenient. They have a parking garage that requires grabbing a parking ticket, finding a spot, walking to the gym and getting the ticket validated on the way out. When it's packed, it's a hassle finding a parking spot and can be a huge waste of time. Because of the above, I did not find it advantageous to leave Lifetime for Equinox. I called to cancel my agreement within the allowed time-frame and not only have they not refunded me, but they also charged me for the next month. I called about the issue and the person that was on the phone was no help at all. He took down my number and said he would look into it and have someone call me back. I asked him to check if my membership was actually canceled and he said he didn't know how to do that. I expected more from this club but so far, it's been a huge disappointment. read more

Rarely do I go out of my way to write a review. Unfortunately I found it necessary to share with anyone considering Equinox ATX to know how horrible the customer service is prior to agreement of membership at this location. As a traveling professional and member of the military, I asked several times whether it would be an issue in the event I relocate. I was assured it would not be. But as evident by this review, to date I have lost $400 since relocating, and am still working with membership services to cancel my account and receive a refund. The only reason I gave more than one star is because there are some decent instructors who deserve credit (Ela's yoga classes and Kiley's Precision Run). I hope they treat their employees 10x better than they do their customers. It is a nice space with typical Equinox locker room and equipment, but I will not be returning when I am back in town or recommending this to any of my friends in ATX. Although i enjoyed the facilities I felt like some things were lacking. The place is definitely a meat market though, so no complaints there. Lol Some things I thought were missing are more equipment including more squat racks and bench press, better styles of yoga, more reasonably priced personal training. All in all the place felt too fake. For myself and my girlfriend the classes were a little bit to fluffy in style. We prefer classes that are more Challenging and less encouraging. I also feel that for the money overall there are too many uncertainties and missing things for us to commit to a year. Their contract has no way to get out of it despite what the sales rep said. What she said did not line up with what the contract said. Basically unless you lose a leg or die you contract is enforced. Going through the cancellation process right now because we were within the 5 day cancellation period. The contract specifies some nonsense about having to use certified mail, this review will go down to a one if we have to literally mail our receipt over certified mail to cancel.... The steam room was missing eucalyptus and was never consistently hot enough. It seemed like a room design issue. Seemed like style over function like a lot of the place did. read more

Just moved to the area and need a gym. I called ahead to confirm that I could stop by for a tour and discuss membership and was told to come in. I show up at 4 pm, wait for 10 minutes and they tell me the only sales person just left and to come back tomorrow. I Guess they don't want my money. Todd Zamora, manager of Equinox has been illegally charging my credit card since June of 2022. When I email him about it, he doesn't respond. He doesn't take my calls. He owes me more than $1,000. My contract should have been terminated. I haven't stepped foot in that gym (or even US soil) for the last 9 months, so how could I possibly even use this gym?
