Well, they did it again. We ate here last year while visiting our daughter and couldn't wait to get back this year to see if the food was as amazing as we remembered it to be. If it's even possible it was even better this time. The chicken satay is one of our favorites and the roasted carrots; well I didn't think it was possible to make a carrot taste that good. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is phenomenal. They don't cram you in next to each other like some places so the atmosphere is nice and relaxing. Just go. For you Lex folks, Eppings is where National Provisions used to be. It's way cuter now though...all white decor with cool wooden chandeliers. I love that vibe of all white. The owner/chef is the same as Cole's (namesake) and his food is always and consistently of a high standard. The pork chop is local and really thick; it has tons of flavor. I went with my college-aged daughter and her friend and we had a great time...lots of excellent craft cocktails. The blood orange cosmo is our favorite cosmo in Lex. One of my pet peeves with even the nicest restaurants in Lexington is that good restaurants often bail out on desserts and offer some freshly thawed cheesecake and very little else, Cole's is not that place. I would consider going there for dessert. I had a blood lemon dessert that crazy was fabulous. You'll love this restaurant. read more

I've tried Epping's three times, and unfortunately have been disappointed each visit. The ambiance here is amazing, but the service is severely lacking. The first two times dining at Epping's, my order came out cold/undercooked - once, they fixed it! The other time, however, the server didn't stop by again for 15 minutes, and when they did they brought the check. After speaking with a manager, I was able to get the meal removed from the tab since it was inedible. My third visit to Epping's, they rudely asked us to leave only 35 minutes after we sat down... we had finished our meal, but not our conversation (we had made a reservation for this spot too, even though it was busy/peak hours, I find it to represent poor service.) From what I can tell, they do not care to serve young people unless they are drinking alcohol. Very disappointing. I wanted to love this neighborhood spot, but it is unwelcoming and inconsistent. read more

Aesthetically modern atmosphere and design. Lexington restaurant week 2022, the blood orange Cosmo is a MUST. We started off with the crab bisque and mixed greens, both were light and flavorful. Next was lamb kabob & chicken pakora, packed some heat. Entrees we had the pork loin with risotto & the Bronzini. Unfortunately pork loin lacked flavor, but the risotto was fabulous. Bronzini was cooked perfectly. Ended our meal with the Chef's assorted deserts. The Bourbon Butterscotch with sea salt, we could eat our body weight in it. read more

First off, they have TOTALLY transformed this place. It's bright, open, modern, and clean. Definitely an elevated space for Lexington. Service is very good, and we interacted with a number of staff. The floor was never empty of servers, which is a good thing. Management was also friendly and responsive. Drinks are good, and I had a lovely Aviation. My dining companions all had wine, and our server offered tastings when one was on the fence about a choice. Food was very good. The menu offered a wide swath of options but all along the lines of playful American fare. The mixed greens salad was great for a salad, taking a basic starter to something more complex. We were also thrilled with the (DELICIOUS!) rainbow pride rolls, which was a very nice touch. I had the scallops, which were cooked perfectly, but were soooo salty (I scraped the top off and that helped). Others in my party ordered the burger and fish and chips. The burger she said was very good, and I tried the fish, which was cooked to perfection but again, soooo salty. The fries were crispy and flavorful but, again, salt was very very heavy handed. And this is coming from a salt lover. I brought up the salt issue with our server and a manager came over to discuss - and he was genuinely interested in listening to our feedback. As a token, he sent us four comp desserts which was lovely. The desserts were good, not amazing, and were mostly deconstructed versions of classics. They weren't too sweet, which I like, but nothing stood out as a star. Will definitely be back to this place and can't wait til I see what else they do. read more

Can't believe we haven't come here sooner! It was recommended by a friend for brunch and it was so good that we came back the next week! Everything is so clean and airy and the food is consistently good. The burger was dynamite and the bottomless mimosas/ bloody Mary's/ Bellinis deal is unbelievably good if you have friends to share with (~$25) for bottomless for 4 people!!!). Both of our waitresses were friendly, helpful, and personable and both times the owner (or manager?) came out to check on us. They do a good job catering to any population, namely the young and cool millennial with kids as they even have a kid friendly bathroom with a toddler sized toilette and sink, and a diaper trashcan! I am excited to try dinner here for a special occasion and will definitely be back soon for brunch! read more

Wow! I love the cocktail selection. I think I've tried all of their specialty cocktails and I've enjoyed most of them. For lunch I love the grilled cheese with soup. It is not a traditional grilled cheese like you might expect, but it is absolutely mind blowing how delicious it is. For dinner I recommend the Bibimbap, it is amazing. I wish I could make tofu taste so good at home; I don't know what magic the chef is working in the kitchen!! read more

First time here was lunch with my niece, older sister & nephew who were in town from California. Wanted to take them somewhere new and hip, so I had wanted to come here previously, so we arrived and on the outside it doesn't look like much but once you enter the ambiance is very airy and bright. We all loved the chic decor! I was impressed with size and seating available. Lunch menu had good southern variety. We all loved our selections and shared a taste of each. For me lunch is the preferred menu and timeframe to come. Later for our Anniversary, my husband & I came for dinner and we were NOT very pleased with our dinner selections. Prices were very high for the portion sizes. Especially my husband's seafood dish and the sides. My porkchop was huge, but undercooked (I asked for well done). This type of restaurant feels like a downtown experience but it's on the east side in a cute location near a few other restaurants and a brewery so it's an unexpected jewel. The food was amazing. I was brave and tried an unusual dish. It was quinoa stuffed poblano peppers with a cashew cream and pomegranate seeds. It's a lot to take in but honestly it was amazing. Spicy and super yummy vegetarian dish. The dessert was great as well. I really like the vibe there it felt very classy. My green haired waitress was very nice, she gave extensive information on the daily specials and other types of things. It had that five star feel from the beginning because of that level of detail. After hearing raving reviews, I was excited to try Epping's. The decor and environment is beautiful! I couldn't get over the industrial modern aesthetic. The service was what set me back, however. The server never came back after we got our food and I never had an opportunity to get another drink. She also seemed a bit scattered. I got the Eastsider special cocktail and it was delicious! Super fruity with a passion fruit twist. For dinner I got the Epping's chopped salad which was the best part of my meal! I'm a sucker for a good chopped salad and their peppercorn ranch was to die for! Simple yet tasty! My entree was the salmon on a bed of chickpeas. It was very good, with a nice char, though some may not appreciate how charred the salmon was. The only negative was the chickpeas were over fried and were left hollow and too hard. Still worth giving this place a try as there are many options. read more

We went here for brunch today and everything started out fine. Then we had to wait over an hour for our meal, and that was only when we called the manager over. Place is great, food, when we got it, was really good and the manager comped our meal. The issue I have is that the waitress and the manager served other people and could clearly see that our food had not come out. Once I asked the manager what the issue was, an hour+ after placing the order, he got our food out. Won't be back and have to ask if Coles has a similar issue. From the moment I walked in I felt great! I came to celebrate my and my kidney donor and very best friend of 15 years birthdays! They immediately accepted our home brought birthday fruit pizza and even offered to keep it cold for us while we ate. My only down moment was when they told us they didn't have my reason for choosing this place for my birthday, the incredible burger. As a vegetarian who wanted to celebrate burger week I was ecstatic to see this! JULIA ROBERTS MOMENT. On April 4, 2024 at 5 pm we walked into Epping's. Two of us live in Ashland Park and we were entertaining an out of town guest. Our guest happened to be the COO of a high end restaurant franchise. Not kidding. Upon entering we were stopped. We said we are going to just sit at the bar and have drinks and appetizers. The "hostess" said nothings available for an hour to an hour and a half. Again, we said we didn't need a table we were just going to sit at the bar counter. She nastily said "we don't have anything." We could see two open seats at the bar although they weren't together. She was sitting on a bar seat. She never got up. She never looked at the bar. Since Epping's have two bars she could have gotten up and looked in the other room. She didn't. She could have gotten off her bar seat and tried to seat us using the two open seats. She could have asked a manager. Instead she just sat on her bar seat and smirked at us. Embarrassed and stunned we said thank you and left. Our COO remarked that the front of house needs some serious training as that is the face of the company. We went to the sister property, Coles where we had a delightful experience. Greeted and seated by two hostesses and our server. We enjoyed drinks, wine, appetizers and full entrees. Wonderful service and fabulous food. Epping's however was a horrible experience. Our COO friend usually orders the majority of appetizers to try and it's nothing to have two bottles of $70+ wine. Even with average service we all tip 30-35%. My husband & I had a great dinner here. We sat inside but they have a large patio space set up under a tent with heaters. We started with the chopped salad & both loved it. The homemade peppercorn ranch, bacon & avocado were awesome. I had the burger with their fries which were nicely seasoned and my husband had the flank steak which he enjoyed. We finished our meal with their seasonal pumpkin cake which was delicious and too large of s slice for us to finish. Wanted to try something new since my parents were in town from eastern Kentucky. Found this place on Open-table and made a reservation. The building itself is breathtakingly gorgeous. Inside is just as beautiful. But the food, the food was amazing. It was the best burger I have ever had. Everything we ate was wonderful. They have a happy hour weekday nights with half price on some apps and then 30% off sandwiches. They have ample parking, a large patio with several fans to help with the heat, and even had live music. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back!! read more

After hearing nothing but great things, I finally made my way to Eppings. First of all, let me just say the decor/space are AMAZING. It is absolutely beautiful! I visited with a friend for lunch and was surprised to find that it wasn't very busy (a hidden gem for lunch, perhaps!?). Our server was incredibly helpful, answering questions and providing recommendations when we asked for his advice. I got the fried chicken sandwich and oh my goodness was it delicious! The breading was crispy, the chicken juicy and flavorful. The sundried tomato aoli was the perfect compliment. For my side I chose the fries and those were good as well!
