This review is for the San Diego store. Every time I go here, it's a good experience. I've never received a bad vibe and I've never felt slighted when making my measly 30 dollar purchases. The staff members are always helpful, and the products are tidy and well stocked. My only complaint is they are a Monday-Friday business, but I can't blame them for that. I'll continue to use them, especially now that I know they carry surfboards making products. If you're iffy about ordering online, call the store or go in and discuss what you want, then have them order it for you. The stock box of scrap plastic out front is pretty cool too. read more

ePlastics provided me with an excellent customer experience. Although I was out of state, I requested a quote on some materials via email and got a response very quickly. (about an hour and a half) The representative I was communicating with was very respectful and patient with my limited knowledge of plastics. The representative helped me figure out exactly what I was searching for, provided me with a very fair quote, and even broke down the shipping costs and estimated time of arrival. I have a ranch in Bonsall and we were looking to build slow feeders for our horses. Initially, we were going to make the entire feeder using HDPE. However, after speaking with Susan Xanten, I realized it would be too costly. I am so impressed with Susan. When I gave her my initial dimensions she diagrammed and calculated the number of sheets I would need for my four boxes including the best use of the material. My final choice was to use the HDPE only for the bottoms of the feeders. Susan then calculated my total number of sheets and ePlastics will cut the sheets to size for free!!! Even though Susan was not familiar with slow feeders, she gave me some great ideas for the boxes. In the future I will certainly work with ePlastics and will ask for Susan as I find her to be a kind, professional and meticulous representative of the company. Terrible customer service, no response to emails, snotty and uncooperative on the phone. I placed an order 2 months ago, got an email saying they had recieved the order...then nothing. I called, and she said the order didn't go through for some reason. I re-ordered. This time it went through, but all 10 sheets were cut a quarter of an inch undersize in both directions. I sent more emails, but they were ignored. When I called, the snotty woman told me "well they're cut from larger sheets". I told her I don't care what they're cut from, that's not the size I ordered. Terrible. They way overcharge. For what I wanted it should have cost between $100 to $200 but they provided me an estimate at almost $700. Ultimately I found a 3D printing company that could make my parts within my budget. EPlastics/Ridout use to be a good company now they are way too expensive. I ordered 4 12" square sheets of Nylon. After 2 1/2 weeks they finally showed up. Also they were cut to 11 3/4". That makes them completely useless for my purposes. Called up and was told that was "industry standard". I've been in the manufacturing business for 30 years. When my machine shop makes things wrong, we have to replace them. Industry standard my ass. Then they wanted me to pay return shipping AND pay a 20% "restocking" fee. For a standard size item. It wasn't even custom cut, and it was their mistake. What a bunch of crooks. read more

Great service, very helpful. I needed them to cut me 2 customized Plexiglas sheets. They were very helpful with explaining the differences between each material. Was a bit concerned after reading over Yelp reviews, but my transaction went off w/o any issues. I called in an order for some resin casting material around 3:00pm and picked it up at 4:30pm. Quick and accurate counter service, card charged correctly, no issues. Prices were reasonable for the items I purchased (casting resin, MEKP catalyst). I didn't pick-up any sheets on this trip, maybe next time. I'll be coming back, especially since they are (literally) across the street from my office. read more

I recently bought a portable air conditioner that has two 5" hoses that need to vent outside. Unfortunately, the window adapter was too small for my type, which are sliders. I sketched out 2 custom pieces - one for a window and another for my sliding patio door. I decided on acrylic in order to let more light shine through. I took it to ePlastics, and they worked with me to minimize the materials cost. This was 2:30 on Friday, and they had the pieces done by 4:15, which turned out perfectly. Ordered like a few others, got the email stating I selected the wrong shipping option. Shipping went from $21 to $151. I asked how that was even possible, we ship orders all over the country ourselves, they're charging pallet prices for a piece of plastic that was 54"x24". Customer service response was "that's what it costs". I set up shipping through my UPS account, shipping was $64. This company has terrible customer service, over charges for shipping, and has a poorly designed website if you're able to select a shipping option which is not actually an option on the product you selected. I seesawed back and forth between 5 stars and 1 star on this review. 5 stars for the online ordering process and the ability to have them custom-cut the plastic we ordered. 1 star for the fact that their shipping charges are too high, especially if you pay to have the plastic cut to a smaller size for easier shipping. (They say you'll get cheaper shipping if you pay them to cut it, but they still charged me the full shipping rate.) 1 star for the fact that i never received an email confirmation or shipment details. 5 stars for the quick response to my email asking for these missing details. 1 star after the order arrived ... one of my pieces was 1/16" narrower than the others. 1 star when they didn't respond to my email asking that they resend the piece that was cut wrong. 5 stars when i called and they promised it would be re-cut and re-sent tomorrow! 1 star when it didn't arrive on the promised date (or 3 days later). 5 stars when it finally did arrive, 4 days later, in perfect condition! Now, at the end of the process, i guess i can settle on 3 stars. The plastic is great, but their cutting process is iffy. They brag about tolerances of 0.00003", but in fact, their 1/16" blade made for mis-matched cuttings. And to get to this point was painful and more hassle than it should've been. Maybe if i had a huge order, i would've been treated better or the quality would've been higher. But small residential customers beware ... and be prepared to go back and forth between elation and disappointment. read more

One star because you can't give ZERO stars. Bought two panels of G10 from them for a prototype for a customer of ours. The price was fairly reasonable but the shipping was absurd. 29.,00 for 2 pcs of 12x24 .060 G10? Come on! Ok, so I bought it anyway. It arrives scratched and unusable. Their response? "G10 is a commercial material and therefore we can't guarantee that it's not scratched or gouged"! What a load of crap. I have other plastic suppliers who absolutely stand behind their products. Not Eplastics. Give these people a wide berth, they are just the worst of the worst. read more

It doesn't get any better than this folks. I got this dome ceiling light installed above my kitchen back in 2006. It looked great until the plastic began to yellow a few years back. I'd thought I'd attempt to freshen the panels up by washing them. Lookin' pretty good, but still wet I put them outside to dry. Assuming they were trash my dad threw the plastic pieces away....Great. I had no idea what type of plastic it was. Fast forward 3 years (I know - pathetic right?) This eyesore had been perpetually on the "honey-do" list and I was getting sick of it. I searched on Google, found a local place, ePlastics and within an hour not only did I get great advice on which type of plastic to use but the salesman was very friendly, walked me though the cutting process and sent me over to "will call" to get the guys cuttin' ASAP! At "will call" the stellar service continued. I was met right away, gave him my purchase order form and he gave me a 20 min completion time. 20 minutes! I thought he'd say, "I can get this out to you by next Monday." Or something like that. It was a buzz with activity, it's not like they were dead. It took me just as long to drive to ePlastics than it did to get my order cut and in my car saving me literally hours of frustration. Best custom order experience ever. read more

I recently bought an older home that has boxed-in florescent lights in the bathrooms. Although I'd like to replace them in the future, one of them had broken plastic light covers that needed attention now. I could buy plastic sheets from Home Depot, but reviewers complained that they were difficult to cut without cracking. I ordered specifically sized plastic sheets online from ePlastics and got them in a week. The cracked ice style is much more attractive than the pebbly style that was originally in the bathroom. Could not be more happy with the entire experience. I am a small business owner, and I purchased a small amount of acrylic paneling from Eplastics to build some photography equipment. Not only did they make the ordering and purchasing experience a total breeze, they actually seemed interested in what I was doing, and tossed around some design ideas with me, to help me better execute the concepts I had in mind. I ordered a few pieces with VERY specific dimensions, that had to be absolutely perfect, or they wouldn't work for my design. After talking with them, we came up with a design plan, and very single piece that I ordered was absolutely perfect. My equipment is better than I had thought it was going to be, thanks to Eplastics! STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY - Sent damaged goods, after sending photos and numerous phone calls later, they requested yet more photos. Finally sent a fedex label. Sent order back. Fedex got a delivery exception, even though it was sent to eplastics address. So somebody at this company wouldn't accept the package! Then they played the "we haven't received it" game and wouldn't refund my money because - they didn't receive the package. Left message on Owners voice (Elliott Rabin) and he didn't respond. All this for a $50 order that most companies would have just refunded with an apology. The fact that they sent damaged goods in the first place (no signs of distress on the packaging box) shows that they just don't care. Still haven't received my refund. Fedex lost box. I contacted Ridout Plastics for plexiglass inserts and assembly of a large ship model case. The recptionist connected me with Travis Scott who was knowledgeable, friendly and fully supportive in taking on this daunting task. The wooden ship model kit I bought from Amazon included no instructions and seemed as easy to assemble as a tower of playing cards. Travis cheerfully assured me he had done this before and completed my order in just a few days. The finished product exceeded my expectations and looks like cases costing ten times as much. All the people I dealt with at Ridout from the receptionist to final checkout were great and a pleasure to work with; they even like dogs; but I have to single out Travis as the main reason I will go back to them for my next project. A service oriented business with a highly professional staff that charges reasonable prices for high quality products is hard to find these days. Read on for my reasons why ePlastics has questionable ethics and business policies. First, let's start with the good. I received my order in a timely manner, and the pieces I had custom cut were correct and in good shape. I've ordered from ePlastics before, and have always been satisfied. However, something happened during my recent transaction that makes me question their ethics. I placed an order for a 0.125" X 24" X 96" acrylic sheet. The shipping cost for this rather large piece of acrylic was $124.12 via FedEx Home Delivery service. I paid an extra $18 to have the sheet cut into (3) 63" x 7" pieces. I also requested that the leftover remnants be sent to me, since I had to pay for them anyways. Fast forward about a week later. My package arrives from ePlastics in good order. The label on the box said it was sent FedEx Home Delivery, weighted 14lbs and had dimensions of 67" x 8" x 2". The package was much smaller since they didn't have to ship me a large, 2 foot by 8 foot piece of acrylic. Out of curiosity, I ran that weight and dimensions through FedEx's website, and saw that the shipping charge should only be $34.06. After checking my credit card statement to confirm that I didn't receive a shipping credit, I called ePlastics. When I explained all of the above, the lady gave the excuse that the extra charges were for the packing material. I asked her if the cardboard they used to wrap the acrylic cost $90 (the difference between what I actually paid vs what I should have paid) and she just kept making excuses and said there's nothing she could do. She also went on to say that "FedEx shows different rates for different people" but I countered with, "If anything, I think you would get better rates than I do because of your shipping volume". The company did ship me my remnants, but they cut them down to be able to fit into the same size package as my other pieces. I can only assume that this is so they could keep their shipping costs down and pocket more of my money. Please be aware of these deceitful practices when considering ePlastics for your business. read more

I would never recommend this company to anyone. Keep in mind even you have paid for shipping, they still expect you to have a forklift to unload the merchant or help the driver to unload everything.. The ordering process, the quick delivery, the packaging; all First Class. My order was packaged so well, it took nearly 10 minutes of cutting tape and peeling back the box to get it open. I needed some acrylic rods to use as curtain rods. I called EPlastics to make sure that they would be strong enough. They said that I should order the cast acrylic rods because they would be strong and rigid. The cast rods were far, far more expensive than the extruded rods, but I thought it would be worth it for the strength. I was duped. I spent $650 on these rods and they bend like cheap rubber. I even have it in writing from a woman in the company that they know the rods are "bendy." They tricked me, wasted my time and my money, and caused me a whole lot of aggravation. I have to pay someone to put up a lot of extra supports (every two feet) to try to keep these things from bending so much. That is not only very expensive but it means that I cannot slide the curtains back and forth on the rods. They offered to give me $300 back if I paid to ship them all back to them. Yeah right. Then I would be out over $400 with nothing to show for it and they would have their products back to sell to some other sucker. I would also have to trust that they would keep their word and give me back the $300. I don't think so. I asked for a partial refund instead to help defray some of the costs I have had to incur to try to use these and they stopped all communication. I will be pursuing a complaint with my credit card company and every review site I can find. read more

This is one of few places in San Diego where one can find industrial plastics, the other being San Diego Plastics in National City. It has a good selection of plastics and cutting services according to request. The sales staff was knowledgeable on their products but rather impersonal. What I don't understand is how they assess the cutting charges. Sometimes the cutting charges being almost as much as the price of plastic itself. Asked for a single cut of 3/4 inch thick plastic, they charged $15. This is a job with a decent table saw that can take less than 5 min of time. On a different note, the will call section had several people lazing about but when asked to do a cutting, no one jumped for help. The general indifference shown at the front office seems to have penetrated through the walls to the workers in the yard. read more
