Heshy is incredible! I have been organizing events for the last 10 years and I have used my fair share of caterers-- some good, some bad, some pretty disgusting. I had an event recently that I had to use a Kosher caterer-- which to me immediately screams overpriced and under seasoned-- that's just what we seem to have here in the Bay Area. BUT I WAS SO WRONG! Heshy was beyond easy to work with. I asked him for a sample menu (the "chef's choice) and I am so happy I chose that. There were a variety of things for meat lovers, vegetarians, gf, vegans, all of it! E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. was delicious. Heshy worked with my budget and everything was truly perfect. Whether I need a Kosher caterer or not, I will be using Heshy from now on-- for both professional and personal events! read more

Epic bites came through for my daughter's Bat Mitzvah. We had meals prepared for Friday evening, Saturday lunch and Saturday evening. The food was excellent, well prepared, great presentation and I got many compliments from family who couldn't believe Kosher food can taste so good. Thank you Epic Bites! read more

Heshy is a great caterer! Efficient, professional, and super accommodating to the dietary needs we had. He made and packaged the food, for 150, made sure it was safe for transport all the while working with us to make this event delicious but also affordable. read more

Heshy is so easy to work with! He is my go-to caterer. He always takes care of everything, so I never need to worry or micro manage. I think his best stuff is when you choose "chef's choice" and just tell him the food you don't prefer. Then he comes up with the most incredible flavors and pairings! Also, he appreciates feedback, and is always working to be even better. Best kosher caterer in the Bay Area... but hire him even if you don't need it kosher-- he's worth it! You won't regret hiring Heshy! read more

Hiring Heshy is a total no-brainer. We had a really excellent three-course meal that he prepared and served in a private home this week and all of the touches were fantastic. Food that really shone and made a great night special. Plus he's just an amazing presence to have in your kitchen. I have also hired him to cater company lunches: he does great cold sandwiches, wraps, salads and don't get me started on what he can do with meat. Genius. And he really cares. read more

My daughter had her Bat Mitzvah catered by Hesh and his staff. She wanted kosher Indian food with specific dietary needs which is a big challenge. Hesh was not only up for the challenge but he made one of the best meals ever. I am absolutely amazed at the quality of the food and warm staff. Many guests told me it was the best food at a special event they've had. He put his creativity, quality, and passion for cooking in every bite of the Indian lunch and I have not even mentioned the delicious dessert and chai tea bar. The sauces he made for everything was better than than traditional Indian restaurants in the Bay Area. We are so grateful! Whether you are looking for kosher or simply phenomenal cooking and service, look no further. This is it! Hesh can create anything because he is an epic Chef. read more

My experience with Epic Bites Catering and with Heshy was excellent. He responded quickly and clearly to my emails and suggested a menu for my son's bar mitzvah that was interesting, on the healthy side, and sounded very appetizing. The food was delicious and varied and many of my guests provided feedback that they really enjoyed the food and that the service on the day of was excellent as well. I highly recommend Heshy and Epic Bites Catering. read more

Heshy did a fantastic job for our kids bar/bat mitzvah luncheon. We had over 300 people in attendance and we were worried that there would be a mob trying to get to the food but Heshy thoughtfully set up the room in a way to create an easy flow and no long lines. His food too was amazing. We had a vision and Heshy helped expand on it. He was really willing to work with us to incorporate important elements into our meal . Several guests and members at our synagogue even came up to us afterwards and said this was the best kiddush luncheon they have ever been to. Working with Epic Bites was very easy too - good communication skills and easy to get a hold of (after planning this event for the last several months, I have lots to say about vendors getting back to me and luckily I was never hunting down Heshy to get questions answered). Undoubtedly the best kosher caterer around and his food tastes amazing. We were blown away! read more

Heshy and his team did a beautiful job catering a dairy-pareve gala event for us this spring. The food was delicious and the signature cocktails caused a crush at the bar. Highly recommend the mini grilled cheese bites and he did a fantastic chilled minted pea soup shooter. Besides the food, working with Heshy and his staff leading up to the event and day of was a pleasure--super professional, able to work out most menu and set up via email with minimal back and forth, and on the day of his staff really took care of everything set up wise which meant fewer volunteer needs and a very smooth evening. Having worked with numerous caterers over the years, I highly recommend Heshy both for the exceptional quality of food and service you get! read more

Heshy was great to work with. Professional and hard working. Heshy planned and delivered a Kosher lunch for a client I hosted on February 6th and it was spectacular. The food was delicious. read more

I just wanted to send compliments to Chef Hesh! I ordered from Hesh on a very short notice (1 week's notice) for a Company Holiday Luncheon (buffet style) for 28 people with vegetarian eaters. My non-vegetarian coworkers loved the braised chicken! His chicken was very tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The chicken was all gone by the end of the day, as well as, the saffron rice. My vegetarian coworkers thought the spread was tasty too (which are also bonus points). I heard compliments on the roasted sweet potatoes (a coworker took some home) and another loved the roasted squash with romesco sauce (so much that he would like to recreate this dish for his family Christmas party). I had several coworkers going back for seconds. I really enjoyed the rosemary cake as dessert. Also, the pita bread was so delicious I could have eaten the entire bowl! No one at my company is vegan, but I personally enjoy vegan foods. I will occasionally cook vegan food at home, so I thought that was awesome that all the dishes (besides the chicken of course) was vegan. Thank you from all us at Rapiscan Laboratories for coming all the way out to feed us! I would definitely recommend Hesh for kosher catering or any catering as a matter of fact. read more

SUPER professional and more importantly, the food was delicious. The LEAST stressful part of the event was the food - will absolutely use them again. read more

I've used Epic Bites catering for a few events. Everything they have made has been absolutely amazing. Their veal bacon was cured to perfection. Shnitzel breaded with panko the way it should be. Pulled beef that melts in your mouth. This kosher venue would be a five star rating in any major kosher culinary city like NYC, LA, Miami, etc. The Bay Area doesn't realize how lucky they are. Hands down the best food I have eaten! read more

This kosher BBQ is delicious. I ordered the garlic mashed potatoes and a brisket sandwich that came with coleslaw and a pickle. There was nothing left on my plate. I really wanted to try everything else on the menu as I could see from other people around me- those who had ordered the ribs especially- that they were enjoying the food as well. Really tasty, kosher, BBQ that I would eat again and again and again. read more

"Every bite feels like there is a party going on in your mouth." Most kosher food in the Bay Area is a novelty by virtue of the fact that it is actually kosher. When I heard people rave about Epic Bites, I must admit was skeptical. I have since used them as a caterer twice The food was beyond what anyone expected. Veal brined in apple cider, root bear brisket. Who eats brownies with kosher bacon inside? I do if Isaac B is cooking! The name is quite apt. It is exactly what it sounds like. I would recommend them to any friend hosting a dinner i was invited to. Six stars for Isaac! read more

We hired Heshy for our daughter's Bat Mitzvah and we were very happy from the beginning to the end! Heshy is really easy to work with. He is organized, he planned long in advance. We met a few times to talk about the details of the menu. He was always listening to what we wanted and offered professional suggestions as well. We received a detailed quote. After the party, we payed exactly what was written on the quote, no surprise! The quality of the food was outstanding! The service was fabulous! The presentation of the food was amazing! After the party, we received a lot of compliments from our guests about the food. We would definitely hired Heshy again. read more

We yes Epic Bites for a Friday night dinner before our son's wedding. We had 50 or 60 people at our house. Heshy was very easy to work with. The food was plentiful and delicious and all the guests commented on how delicious the food was. He made original recipes including chicken with olives and apricots. There was a delicious Barley dish among many other Mediterranean flavored foods. Heshy suggested the menu and everything was wonderful. I would cheerfully use Epic Bites again. read more

I have attended several events catered by Heshy, most recently a supper pop-up in Berkeley, CA. As always, it was a wonderful experience - delicious food, beautiful plating, and great service. As a meat-focused event, all the various meats served were wonderfully cooked and creatively presented, and perfectly seasoned - from gnocchi with duck to the delicately fried chicken rounds to the pastrami and steak. The vegetarians present received an entire beautifully plated alternative menu, which I was pretty amazed by. Heshy and the Epic Bites team really go above and beyond in accommodating people's special dietary needs while producing fantastic food that you want to photograph and then polish off. Highly recommend! read more

I had two months to plan my wedding and out of the chaos, my one relief was knowing my caterer was professional and reliable. He is collaborative and really listened to what we wanted. He helped guide us through the meal planning process and timeline. What can I say? He made it incredibly easy! Wedding Details and Comments: - He catered for approximately 175 people. - Kosher, Fleishik - For us, Epic Bites did catering, provided dishes/glassware/utensils/napkins. - Tish Food: Beef Bacon wrapped dates, yam fritters, house smoked pastrami on crostini, olive selection, seasonal fruit platter. - Let me say... the BEEF BACON! My favorite food items he served were beef bacon wrapped dates, yam fritters, and the chicken legs/thighs braised with lemons, olives, rosemary. The chicken was cooked to perfection! - Heshy prepared a plate of the tish food and sparkling for us in our yichud room. Pre-planned, but so thoughtful (and delicious), am i right?!?! - Nice surprise: juices at the bar via beverage dispenser. It was an added bonus. - Dinner Buffet: Chicken legs and thighs braised with lemons, olives, and rosemary; saffron rice w/ toasted nuts, fresh herbs and dried fruit; grilled seasonal vegetables w/ romesco; honey lavender glazed root vegetables medley; toasted faro and arugula salad w/ roasted mushrooms and smoked onions; white bean hummus w/ roasted garlic. - Dessert: we opted to not have a wedding cake. Heshy/Epic Bites served brownie mousse cups w/ macerated strawberries; lemon lavender cake; seasonal fruit. My guests feedback: - I heard several comments of how delicious the food was and how glad people were the meal was gluten free minus the Challah (unintentional, I had no idea I picked a gluten free meal haha). - My friends were using a poster prop for their speech, which was lost momentarily. Heshy's crew took the time to help them find the poster. What a nice team Heshy has! Ok. I have to stop. I'm getting hungry. read more

Heshy and his team were an absolute delight to work with at our daughter's Bat Mitzvah. We were searching for a quality kosher caterer in the Bay Area who could deliver memorable food for 100+ guests. From the nosh (high end lox, cheese, credit, homemade humus, babaganoush and more) earlier in the day to the appetizers and dinner in the evening, every single bite was superb. You could see and taste Hesh's passion and pride for kosher food. His crew was extremely polite, professional and friendly. Food presentation - five stars! Food taste - five stars! Modern take on classic dishes - five stars! Dinner menu: Bacon wrapped figs w/ chipotle aoli; Coconut cauliflower soup shots; Duck rilletes on crostini w/ moustarda; Potato knishes w/ honey mustard; Chicken liver pate on fried chicken skins w/ pickled mustard seeds and shallot jam; Morels stuffed w/ smoked onions and peas; Classic brisket braise w/ carrots and onions; Bone in chicken w/ lemon, fennel, rosemary and olives; Saffron rice w/ orange zest and fresh herbs; Honey and lavender glazed root vegetables; Charred broccolini w/ roasted garlic and lemon; Arugula salad w/ pickled onions, shaved fennel, cherry tomatoes, garlic croutons and creamy caper dressing; Dessert buffet featuring a chocolate fountain and all the goodies to dip into said fountain. Fruit, cake, marshmallows, etc... We will definitely hire Hash again in the future and highly recommend him! read more

We just hosted a baby naming catered by Epic Bites. Working with Isaac was an exceptional experience. I had Heshy cater my wife's birthday party and it was amazing. The food and presentation was exceptional. I could not be more pleased. read more

Went to the pop up on Jan 22, 2017. Ordered the pulled bourbon brisket sandwich which was lip-smacking great! Food came out pretty fast. There could have been some more meat on the sandwich. And the price was very expensive, even for kosher food standards. I'll definitely go to the next pop up though. Thanks! read more

While it is true that there are not that many options for kosher caterers in the area, Epic Bites would stand out, regardless of the number of rivals. Heshy makes delicious food, period. I've used him for social and business events, and I've been to his pop-ups several times. It's all legit. Grilled cheese bar? Sure! Stuffed roasted chicken with half a dozen side salads? No problem. Barbecue and fried chicken? Absolutely, and throw some beef "bacon" into the corn salad on the side, just for fun. It's delicious, he's creative and really easy to work with . . . no question that Heshy is amazing! read more

Heshy recently catered our sons Bar Mitzvah. We needed food for two different events. It was a total success! Heshy is a top shelf pro and his food is delicious! He was super easy to work with!Everything was timely and smooth. I highly recommend him for any event, big or small. read more

I have been lucky enough to have had the pleasure of eating some of the amazing food the cooks at Epic Bites have served up, all beautifully presented: Orange Chicken that is sweet, a little spicy, and authentic as can be; Cheesecake that cooks on Shavuot can only dream of delivering; perfect schnitzel that my son still bugs us about not being able to reproduce; salad with veal bacon that was hard to stop eating, etc. With gourmet food like this, fairly priced, served up by a friendly and professional crew, the Bay Area is very lucky Epic Bites has chosen to make its home here. Easy to work with and delicious, I would highly recommend selecting Epic Bites for any catering gig, particularly if you want to impress guests. read more

Heshy and Epic Bites Catering recently catered our wedding for 180 people in Palo Alto. Recently had two separate meals cooked by this team: Veal, and a bunch of salads and sandwiches. Very tasty on both counts. I really liked a tuna, bean arugala salad they made with a yummy dijon vinagrette. My 9-year-old daughter loved a Greek salad they made. My 6-year-old who doesn't like to try anything new, begged for more veal. Here's a little bit that I learned about these kosher caterers, after talking to them: The company was co-founded in August 2011 by Eitan Esan, 26, originally from Rochester, NY, and Yitzchok Bernstein, 27, who grew up in Rocklin. The two friends, who met at Congregation Beth Jacobin Oakland where they both attend and now cook out of, offer an array of dishes, from Indian to French, from Italian to Chinese. Their niche is providing custom-made menus for any occasion. And they are supervised in the Orthodox kosher kitchen of Rabbi Dardik. "We have no real specialty," Yitzchok said. "We just do everything well." Eitan studied economics and public administration at Yeshiva University in New York. Yitzchok was trained at the French Culinary Institute in New York and had internships with Amy's Bread and the San Francisco Baking Institute. To contact them, call 510-469-1624 or email epicbites@gmail.com. read more

We just had Epic Bites cater a baby naming for us in our home. With over 100 people, Epic Bites fed us all an amazing brunch and everyone was impressed by the quality of the food and the variety. They created a unique menu for our event, were responsive in the weeks leading up to it, and arrived promptly to set up. Some favorites: Apple pancakes with sour cream (a fresh interpretation of potato latkes), cheddar and scallion biscuits with mushroom gravy, and a veggie frittata. I would highly recommend them to anyone. read more

We've used Epic Bites Catering for two events now, both staged in our home, buffet style (i.e. no service in our case, though they can do this). First event was a more formalized/ scripted affair centered around an Asian cuisine theme. A very diverse and hard-to-please crowd (including restaurant owners, btw). Everything was perfect and the guests were literally clamoring for more/ complimenting the food the entire evening. I actually witnessed the restaurant owners pressing for (and getting) EBC's soy & chili glazed beef short rib recipe...so took that as a pretty good sign. Our 2nd event was a more casual party for a couple dozen friends- incl. 10 teenage kids known for consuming quantities of food defying the laws of physics. For this EBC suggested a pizza party. Perfect! But this was not your typical pizza... Gourmet cheeses, olive oil marinated wild mushrooms, all fresh herbs, their own home-made/ freshly baked breads and pizza dough with the pies baked on site on big honkin' stones and continuously brought out all night... Throw in all the salads, sides and freshly-made desserts... everyone including the teenagers were beyond elated and satiated, which also says a lot. Over the course of these 2 events EBC have arrived promptly, have performed a superlative and hugely generous job in terms of both quality and quantity and have cleaned up after themselves rather nobly in the aftermath. Could not ask for more! 5 big ones. read more
