It gets the job done if you live nearby, don't mind the strange smell, and they happen to be playing a movie that you want to see. They typically only show a handful of new releases, and even then some of their showtimes are inconvenient. If you do come here, there is a 60% chance that someone is going to be in your assigned seat. That's because the staff does not check tickets here and a lot of people know about it. I see it happen to me or someone else whenever I come here. Their sales (obviously) and clientele would improve immensely if they had a designated employee to check tickets. I took my two Grandson's to a matinee show at the Entertainment Cinema in Leominster on a recent Tuesday afternoon because school was cancelled. The prices were fair, the lines were short and the items at the concession stand were similarly priced to other theaters in the area. I had a horrible experience here. After waiting in line for 20 minutes and still not getting tickets or concessions, the employee I spoke to treated me with total contempt. It was like she was actually angry I wanted to buy snacks from her while she stood at the concession stand. I was shocked and my young daughter was with me seeing all this. I have never encountered such a hateful worker anywhere before. She happily pointed me to her manager, which tells me the manager won't do anything. read more

I'm not entirely sure why this movie theatre is getting ripped apart by other reviewers, but I've been here several times and it's always been a relatively pleasant experience. Sure, there are some weird quirks: standing outside to purchase a movie theatre ticket is certainly not ideal. Especially when it gets wicked cold outside. Which it does. Because we're in New England. Maybe they move the ticket counter inside when there's snow on the ground, but I when I went in late November - it was a balmy 20° - customers were huddled together like penguins to shield ourselves from the biting wind and frigid air. Also, I've noticed that they don't always turn the lights all the way down or the sound all the way up in the theaters (the one time they did, it seemed like their was a buzzing during louder moments of the film, so maybe some of their speakers are blown out?). This doesn't make or break ones movie-going experience by any means; it just is what it is. But there are some great things about this place, too: the tickets are like $5! Movies that you borrow from On Demand on your TV is the same price these days, so you're getting an amazing deal. Who would have ever thought going to the movies would be such a great bargain?! Also, the theaters themselves, in my experience, have ALWAYS been very clean. The seats are CRAAAZZZZZZZY comfortable (and. they. recline. Now, reread those three words. Yum, right?). Went to see the movie wish tonight at 530 the movie didn't start until 6. Then the movie cut out 15 min before the ending and stopped playing. Now I understand things happen that is not my issue. When we asked to speak to the manager she was extremely rude and annoyed that paying customers got screwed out of seeing the end of the movie we paid for. read more

-sigh- I actually bought tickets online and "reserved" seats but upon showing up to the theater... no one even bothered checking our tickets. Actually.... no one was checking tickets at all even for the people who bought them at the door (several people made comments to this). We literally could have walked in there for free. To make matters worse, we tried to sit in our "reserved" seats and the whole row was filled, so it just being two of us we sat somewhere else. Of course.... a family of four shows up and says we're in their seats, and we explain someone is in our seats (it was a full theater with no where else to go) and it just made for a very uncomfortable situation. Not to mention they had 8 people behind the concession stand with only 1 person taking orders and the rest walking around with papers taking inventory? You need 7 people taking inventory at 5:00pm on a Saturday night on the heels of two huge movie premiers? It took about 20 minutes for the manager to notice (and yes I took count because we were late for our movie) before they opened up a second register for the almost 15 people waiting. By the time we got our popcorn and drinks, still no one was checking tickets... seats are comfy. Theater is cold. Food is movie theater quality. But my goodness is there an opportunity for management to step up- especially considering how much money they probably put into those new chairs. I grew up with Sack theaters in this location. I find the seats are quite comfortable and the recent renovations helped the flow of the lobby. The men's restroom should be cleaned much more thoroughly as it wreaked of stale urine and seafood. When the urinal was flushed it made me gag as the stale urine waffed up to assault my nostrils. The movies I've been going to most my life. I rarely go to the movies and now a days driving 30 minutes to theaters that have reclining chairs are for sure the way to go but when I don't want to drive to far Entertainment Cinemas will do. I love going to this theater! The staff is always friendly and helpful, the theaters are usually clean (nowhere close to how awful some other reviewers have described it as), and the atmosphere is simple and charming. Sure, it's not the fanciest, top-of-the-line modern movie theater, but I personally love the nostalgic and inviting quality the theater has. And if there ever is a problem with cleanliness or another patron, I've always seem the management and staff handle it very professionally! This is a theater I am at A LOT. Why you ask only two stars if you continuously go back? This theater is in a good location, the staff is decent (not the management, more on that to come) and it's CHEAP. Real cheap. If it was only these things this would be a four maybe even a five star review. But there is more. First, this theater needs a major face lift. Often you will find busted chairs and most of the theaters are not even converted to "stadium" seating. Even in the theaters that have been converted, the upkeep is not there. This theater could be so much more than it is. Considering Entertainment Cinemas also owns the Alewife theater is not surprising since they both suffer from neglect and could be so great with a little love. Lastly, after having an issue being overcharged by this theater. The customer service from the corporate office is AWFUL. I spoke with the manager here, was requested to drop off paperwork as proof of being overcharged. No problem. Then I get charged again. The back and forth started. During this time I called the corporate office since I was getting no where with the management at the theater. And this is what I was told "You need to talk to the theater manager" I told her I had and then this. "Well, what do you expect me to do?" REALLY? You are customer service at the corporate office and that is what you have to say? Also months after my original complaint on the website I got a generic response from the "president" of the company. This just stated they hoped they were able to resolve the issue. Nothing regarding the actual issue or how they would resolve it. Eventually I got the money refunded, after 3 months of phone calls. It seems that as a company Entertainment Cinemas cares very little for their actual paying customers. After this incident I am definitely here less, if there was any place else in the area comparable I would stop all together. read more

I am currently sitting in the theatre before our movie starts and am now remembering why we stopped going here. The prices during the day for tickets are reasonable but the snack prices are outrageous. The lobby was covered in popcorn and wrappers and trash. The trashes were overflowing. We finally got into our tiny theatre were the seats rows are SO tiny, you're basically sitting on each other's laps. The floors are disgusting. Popcorn, spilt drinks, and candy from previous movies everywhere. I sat in a seat covered in soda. It reeks of God knows what... I have seen over 2,000 movies in my life time, and most of those experiences were here. My first memory was watching The Empire Strikes Back over across the way where the music store is located, there were two movie screens back in the 80s, that is one experience that started my love for the cinemas. Prices are competetative and cheaper than most, plus they have a super combo deal that is perfect for families with a free fill up and popcorn. I've been in three different theaters at this mutilplex. All of them have totally unacceptable levels of HVAC noise. Cinema 3, where I recently saw Avengers Endgame has a terrible sound system. For most of the movie, the main channels lacked anything below 120Hz, and the surround speakers distorted during every effect that they were used. Finally, they bring up and flash the lights part way through the films, which is unacceptably distracting. I wish it was better since they are five minutes from home, but I'll be driving a little farther to get a proper cinema experience from now on. read more

I've submitted a formal complaint to their corporate office about cleanliness when we had to step over vomit on the way out after a movie (forever ago), but the constant messiness wasn't bad enough to stop us from going until one evening on our way out we passed another pool of vomit, except this time in the water bubbler. That was also a long time ago. We live in Leominster, but go to the drive-in's, or the cinema in Woburn with leather recliners. If this is the closest cinema to you, just pretend it doesn't exist and take the drive out to a nice place, unless you don't mind sitting in a sticky-popcorn-puke-theater. read more

I live 5 minutes away from Blackstone Valley Cinema de Lux in Milbury Ma But somehow I always find myself driving to Leominster Mass to go to the movies. It's a 26 minute ride But Entertainment Cinema is a great place to bring your family and friends the staff is always nice and unlike other movie theaters they care about US veterans so even though the prices are not that expensive for the movie tickets they still give us a discount. The only reason I go here is because the tickets are super cheap. The staff is pretty friendly too. However the theater is ratchet - the place needs to be knocked down and rebuilt. Minus the one large room with decent seating, most of the other rooms are wicked small with sticky floors and broken seats basically at floor level so you have to strain your neck to watch the movie. There's also a pretty general sus smell of stale popcorn and dank socks. You may enter with excitement but leave with scabies and a touch of torticollis. read more

Not impressed. Waited a half an hour to see Downton Abbey in a theatre. Apparently the ticket had the wrong theatre on it. We kept waiting and realized the movie wasn't starting. We go back to the front and they say it's in another theatre about to start. We go in the theatre and it's too packed for us. They kept apologizing and gave us some free passes, but how did you not say something when we first came in and checked our tickets? How about you put the name of the movie on the door? Entertainment Cinema, Now Showing: Mediocre Entertainment Cinema in Leominster is like an age-old abandoned theater that had resumed operations without dealing with renovations. The outside looks slightly worn from the elements from afar but the true disappointment sets in when you get close enough to see a heavily cracked window outside the box office, giving a clue of its state. Entertainment Cinema has a decent selection of the latest movies and it is the only theater in the area but you could not shake off the underwhelming feel of entire place. Going to a movie seems like receiving a Christmas present in an ancient birthday gift wrapping and a cheap Chinese knockoff of the toy you want inside. You expected something pretty good, as usual for standalone theater, but it was far from expectations. It kept its appearance up to the point where it is not down right revolting, or at least until you look closer. Entertainment Cinema is like a lone gas station in middle of a long stretch of road going through the desert; it only exists just to fill in the gap of nothingness between other theaters. Imagine walking into that gas station. You see wary employees biding their time and almost everything have some amount of dust on it. The theater was built to serve a purpose, to make money but they neglected the part of keeping it up to date as it does not have any other businesses to compete with. As any other place would fix these issues as soon as possible, Entertainment Cinema tries to get the most out of their theater and it is showing. When you enter, the faint aroma of popcorn permeates from the concession stand and manages to find its way to every other part of the theater. The popcorn itself is nothing special, it has a slight buttery taste by default. They offer to add additional butter to your popcorn but I would not recommend it unless you want to choke on excess diacetyl. Your choice is pretty much a selection of popular candies, popcorn, soda, and they may serve nachos but they do not seem delectable one bit. The restrooms are similar to the restrooms you see in fast-food restaurants such as McDonalds; they are not very clean in the afternoon as it seems like the staff cleans them once or twice a day. As for the movie presentation itself, you have a selection of ten screening rooms (although more than one room might be used for a single movie if the movie is popular) and all of them are unsatisfactory. The screens are relatively quite small as far as theaters goes and there are no stadium seating in what appears to be all of the screenings I have been to. Most of the floors in every venue seems like it have a permanent sticky residue from week-old soda spills. You may get an idiot who like to make running commentaries on the movie but it occurs rarely like any other place. The ideal or even a standard theater would not have any these problems and they would be better by default. Comparison to an ideal theater like IMAX will not do it good at all and the point of this theater existing is because it's convenient. It is not the worst theater in the world but if given a choice to go to any other theater, I would choose to go to the other theaters. If you are in Leominster, I would recommend going to the second closest theater over Entertainment Cinema as any theater may be better than it is now. It is only for people who can not be bothered to drive a few more miles and would not care about the shape of the building. This is aimed for people like families with children where the parents have experienced worse and the children would not care. It also benefits from people who lived in Leominster for most of their life without any exposure from other theaters, including myself until I started looking at this theater in a critical perspective. The only good comparisons it would receive are the comparisons with horror-story theaters that we likely heard from relatives or on the internet. I would rate this two stars out of five for just being bearable and not absolutely horrendous. read more

After my most recent experience at this theater (Tuesday), I was amazed by the quality of the movie-going experience. As a longtime patron, my last few visits have left me eager to return. There has been a noticeable difference in the appearance of this theater. The older building is constantly being updated; most recently with a new rug. The biggest, and most noticeable change, is in the management. Not only has the service vastly improved, the overall atmosphere of the theater is more welcoming. Went tonight to see Christopher Robin. Went to pay and of course I have this thick Amazon credit card with a chip that has never swiped well. The woman selling the tickets slides me back my credit card and instructs me to "read the numbers on the card then the expiration number" out loud. I slide her back the card. I tell her I am not comfortable doing that. She tell me "oh don't worry no one has that good of a memory!" And slides me back the card you know because it's "easier and faster" for her. I tell her I won't be doing that. So instead of just manually putting in the credit card number she tells me to give her another credit card that swipes like that's the only way my husband and I were getting movie tickets. my husband just ends up paying with his card while I'm just in shock she couldn't be bothered to take two seconds to type it in. Went inside got snacks and the man at the concession stand did it no problem. Didn't even bat an eyelash when I told him unless it's used as a chip the manual slide is pretty hit or miss.
