Our train got into Springfield late and the original Enterprise location was closing at noon. Though we were only going to be a 1/2 hour late, the lady at that location would not help us at all and we were very disappointed and upset that she would treat us that way. I understand it was going into the holidays but really? 1/2 hour? Pathetic customer service experience with her and I will NEVER do business with that location. If I could give negative stars for her and her store, I would. However, this location at Dirksen went way out of their way to make up for our situation and got us what we needed and we were on our way. This review is for the Enterprise Rent-a-Car in Springfield, IL (east side). Enterprise provided me with the worst rental car experience of my life. I reserved a car over a month before the scheduled 4/25/26 pick up date. When I arrived, they told me they had no cars, but I was welcome to wait in hopes that one would return, which it never did after waiting an hour and a half. I was under the impression that if I reserved a car one would be there for me.It was like the Seinfeld episode - 'you know how to take the reservation, but you don't know how to hold the reservation. Horrible, horrible business. Rude employees. But how can a company accept a reservation and then have no cars?! Can hotels do this with room reservations? Can restaurants do this with dinner reservations? If you don't know if there will be any cars available, DON'T TAKE THE RESERVATION! The manager tried to tell me that a reservation with Enterprise was not a guarantee of a car. WTF! I will certainly not be renting from them again. Fortunately Hertz came through for me with a car, with no reservation and at a lower price! Don't rent from this horrible company. I hope they go the way of Spirit Airlines. read more

My honest suggestion: if you need a car, go to Hertz. If you need a headache, go to Enterprise. read more

Enterprise on Dirksen in Springfield IL has to be one of the worst experiences of my life... and not only was it this time, it was last time as well... On both occasions I reserved a car only to be told at pick up time that there are no cars available to me, and I will have to wait a couple days before I am able to get a car the I reserved for specific dates due plans pre made. And to top it all off when I went to cancel my reservation because a car was not available, I was not allowed to... I will not be going back and I will be sure to let people know NEVER TO BOOK WITH ENTERPRISE!!!!!! read more

Gave me nothing but issues first had an appointment to pick up at 2 then car wasn't available and was told it would be the same day so come back later was never given a time but was called at 5:30 just before closing time so I go over there just to get denied my license for having a small crack in it. read more

If I could leave negative stars I would consider a fundraiser to rent a billboard outside this business to warn people to not use it. The vehicles you reserve are never ready but unfortunately I don't have other options where we live. They try to convince you to switch vehicles or delay your trip a few hours. We got stuck with a Ford Explorer which had a cracked windshield and other little issues plus the back seat for our large family of 6 is like riding on concrete seats for our 6 hr drive. Bad experience. I asked to be picked up at 8 am. They said they would do so. A driver showed up at 8:20 asking if I was awaiting a car from Enterprise. I said yes and got in the car. He drove me past where he should turn to take me to the Dirksen facility and I asked where he was taking me. He said to Stanford facility which was not where I had made my reservation. He wasn't talkative. I had asked why he came in a different car that I was told would sent to me. I was told a black Jetta. He drove a black car but not a Jetta. No music or radio noise in the car. I refused to go as I did not trust the situation so he returned me to the Gietel bros. Apparently another driver from Dirksen showed up after I left. Very disappointed that they weren't there at 8. I had to call them twice to confirm my pickup. Finally cancelled and walked home over 10 blocks. read more

I had a very good experience with this particular enterprise. They came and picked me up 20 minutes before closing at my hotel. They gave me an excellent deal and really catered to my needs. I reserved a van in February for my vacation in August and the day before my trip they called and told me they didn't have a van for me!!!! They also wouldn't even bother checking the other locations in the city to see if maybe they had one. I had to drive almost 40 miles to pick up a rental van!!!! I did end up going to a different Enterprise that helped me out and were wonderful but I will never again go to this location!!!!!! read more

My one star would be for the local customer service. Otherwise I wouldn't even give a star at all. Honestly customer service deserves 5 stars. The rest well...car shook when accelerating. I noticed a crack after it snowed. I called customer service as it was a concern to me and I didn't want to be charged for something that we didn't do. I was told by customer service to keep the car. So a month or more after we return the car we find out they put in an insurance claim against our insurance. Which we have been fighting. Now a letter with a bill for over 400.00 for a windshield that we did not damage. So so sad!!! Needless to say we have no intention to pay this. And will not use Enterprise in the future. The only rental car company I use, even when traveling overseas. There are never any surprises, cordial, informed staff. Whether the rental is for the day, weekend or a month they get you into the vehicle you requested or upgrade you if ones not available at the time of your reservation...I'm sure that's not policy and others may or may not experience the same however, that has been my experience. Even when the Volvo I rented at the Dublin airport was nearly totaled, they came and picked me up and put me into another vehicle...all with a smile. read more

This is the only Enterprise I've used for car rentals so I'm not sure if they are all this great or this one just has the magic touch. This place has top notch friendly customer service and always delivers a 5 star experience. I always get good deals and never have a long wait or a bunch of unnecessary questions, paperwork ect. They always offer a ride to and from the location if you need it and allow me to park my own car on their lot until I return the rental when I go on my long weekend trips. Daniel is a sweetheart and is always super helpful, she always tells me I can call her if there is any questions, problems or concerns. The cars are always clean, run smooth and come with free satellite radio. I would highly recommend this place and will continue to only go there for my rental needs. read more
