The person who answered my initial call was professional and took my reservation--which was then fulfilled exactly as planned. I needed to be picked up at the bus station in the evening, and sure enough, the cab was right there when promised. The driver was courteous and good natured. The vehicle was clean and pleasant. I didn't have to hunt for a seatbelt, like you do in some cabs. Glad to know that a quality 24-hour can service is available when you need a ride from the Oneonta bus station to the middle of nowhere...or somewhere. I was also pleased to learn that this taxi company provides rides to the airports (Albany, JFK, etc.), New York City, or pretty much anywhere you might need to go. And, after many bad experiences with NYC cab drivers (and other drivers) who chat on cell phones and send text messages while driving, it was a relief that this driver kept his phone contact with the base quick and minimal. I've seen enough vehicular near-misses with folks on cell phones and other distractions to be very uncomfortable with this behavior. I was pleased that, after a quick check-in with the base, my driver focused on the road. I even learned a new short-cut home!

However, many of the available places in Cooperstown were either 1. overpriced, 2. trashy, or 3. both, so when I saw the Phoenix Inn online, and all the great reviews on Yelp, Tripadvisor, etc., I decided to book it. I was extremely frazzled the day we checked in, having driven from RI, with a GPS that didn't think Cooperstown existed, and lack of cell phone reception just added to the anxiety of driving 5 hours through barren parts of states I'd never driven in before. If this place had turned out negative in any way, I think I would've cried. Thankfully, it was adorable, pristine, and the innkeeper Vicki and her husband were extremely nice and welcoming. The inn is also really close to "downtown" Cooperstown, and is really easy to get to, which is nice since you can count on your GPS and phone not really working in the area. (Note: there is wifi at the Phoenix Inn, so we could use our phones when we were there, yay!) There's a tv for guests in the common room, but no tv's in the room. Normally, I wouldn't care about this, but I've gotten into a terrible habit of needing to go to sleep with the tv on. We stayed in the Garden room and the bed was amazingly comfortable. There was only one other room booked at the inn, so instead of cooking a big breakfast, Vicki asked if we wanted her to make us anything and we opted to just eat what she had already put out (Greek yogurt, fruit, and the most amazing homemade blueberry muffins I've ever had). When I told her how much I loved the muffins, she put one in a ziploc baggie for me to take as a snack, which was really nice. This trip kind of proved that, while I'm a small town girl, I will never, ever be a country girl, so, I don't know if I would make any plans to come back to Cooperstown, but if I did, I would definitely stay here.

We give 2-stars for "could have been better". However, the positive is: The actual grounds are gorgeous and historical and unique. But, based on the tangible product, increasing your prices for this tourney is unethical if you cannot provide a clean $640 room with working ac during crazy hot weather. For the broken AC, your staff said: "I guarantee it was working" when "said staff" was not in my room at 1 am, 2 am, 3 am and 4 am when I was up trying to get the ac to work. For that, this is why I came here to let future bookings know ;) Lastly, espresso was great, but breakfast was Mid and tiramisu was rotten from the cafe.

I went there in person yesterday for two nights at their "primitive" tent sites. After Hanna checked her computer, my dates were all clear ...great, then let me pay the $70... but no... she had to check with management first. I thought that was strange since that never happened to me before when getting available campsites. I was told I'd be called later that day but nobody called me. I went back the next day only to be told all sites for the summer were rented out. Clearly that was not true based on her computer check the day before. BOTTOMLINE: if you are not a baseball family spending $1000's here, don't expect to even get the time of day. Therefore, they do not deserve anyone's business.

Our cabins were clean and well appointed with sheets, blankets, towels, coffee pot, toaster, small refrigerator, microwave and several utensils that the prior tenant had left. The views are amazing, the grounds are beautiful. We had so much fun here. Here are some tips: *every cabin gets a fire pit and picnic table *buy a $10 chair at Walmart to put on your porch. It'll be the best $10 ever spent. *All Star Village is across the street. It's about a 15 min. walk on a steep hill. *have your team party at the Pavilion. There are 2 grills, fire pit, lighting, and camp host offers several chairs for seating around the fire pit. * the cabins closer to the pool are a bit larger, and they have a stove.
