This was such a pleasant car rental experience. They called the day before to confirm. Everyone was so friendly and made sure I had everything I needed including a USC phone charger. They went over all the details and we're so friendly helping me with everything. I'm kind of surprised how well it went. Complete lack of customer service. Confirmation made through Country Insurance after getting set up for car repair. If I could give negative stars, this would be the time. I tried to call and set up a full size car. Was hung up on since someone's mailbox was not set up. Called back and spoke to someone who did not at all seem concerned with their lack of service. I needed a full size car, since I am tall. The person wanted to argue that insurance would pay $32/day, and I would have to pay $4/day out of pocket, when my insurance assured me that it would be worked out, and they covered $40/day. I was told I would get calls from the Enterprise office, and no one ever called with a phone call confirmation. I talked with my insurance and they assured me it was set up. Went to pick up and was told my insurance covered $32/day again. When I asked further, they became belligerent, and told me I could not rent a car from them, and at the same time left me stranded but offered to take me to Hertz. I was looking up the phone number for my insurance claims agent, and Enterprise interrupted my phone call. They kept escalating the conversation until it got out of control, and told me again that to be sure I understood they would not rent a car to me. I left and went back to the car repair business, and made phone calls, and they brought me home. The only thing I could recommend is to NEVER bother with Alec O, the local branch manager. He will not be able to offer any service to you, even though it should be his job. Look at all the other negative reviews, and choose some other location. Complete lack of service and lack of providing alternative solutions. Renting a car, which is their business should not be this hard or frustrating. read more

Today: 3 people at the counter, all 20 something year olds, doing nothing, claim they have no vehicles to rent out, parking lot full of rentals, and an empty lobby. Perhaps downsizing staff or ban cellphone use, restrict what they can do on the computer, idk... their motivation to rent me a vehicle was zero! A budget of $1,500 for a 5 day rental and they couldn't do it. read more

This is poorly managed. I was a loyal Enterprise customer for many years. I will be switching to Hertz. My last 3 rentals have all had a smoke smell. The site had about 10 customers waiting for cars so I decided to take it and put some air fresheners in it and see if it got better. No luck. So I called on Saturday to ask to exchange it, Nothing available at the time. Rep stated they would call me when something came in. No call by Monday . So I called again. Rep stated same thing. Never got a call back. Decided to just go up on my lunch break to speak with the manager. When I told him about the smell he stated "why did you take the car if it smelled". Kinda of had an attitude. He stated he had this product that would remove the smell and be like brand new. So I gave him the opportunity to use the product to try and fix the smell. All it did was mask the smell temporarily. I decided to call the 800 customer service line to vent about the poor service I have received. The CS agent listen to my rant and stated they would contact the area manager to follow up on my issue. No contact at all. Called back the 800 line 2 days later for more ranting! The agent stated they would escalate to district manager! What a joke !!! No one ever contacted me. Oh wait I forgot.. they called me after I dropped the car off to extend my rental since it was 2 days over due! Funny thing was, when I dropped it off .. I was checking the car one last time for personal belongings... and the car started to ring like someone was getting a call. As I walked away I saw a branch rep walk around the corner of building to get I another car. It must have been their call, because I never connected my phone to the car system. Given option to pre-pay gas at $0.7 or $0.8/gallon cheaper than current pump price and return it empty, but I knew I wouldn't drive enough - but great option. If I could give them negative stars I would. They over booked cars and told my mother-in-law, they were out of cars that day. What good is a reservation and very nice to strand someone. I called the location and was told she had just made the reservation in the last day or two and that is why it was canceled. This is false, it was made an entire week ago. She said I should call around and find something else. I told her that she should do that for me as I had the reservation. She then hung up on me. Pathetic. read more

Been on the phone for 1 hr waiting to talk to an worker at the location about an reservation. Still have not gotten in contact with an employee. After hearing the phone picked up, no one talked on the other end. I headed up back on hold. If there was a way to give zero stars and a review worse than not good I would do it in a heartbeat. Read on to find out why that is. Trust me you will be glad you did. I recently tried to rent a car from this company out of the Central Illinois Reginal Airport in Bloomington IL. Lets just say I WILL NOT BE MAKING THAT MISTAKE EVER AGAIN. I had reserved the car weeks in advance knowing that I was going to be needing it over a holiday weekend when they would likely be busy. I get to the location after a long day of travel and had to wait for the young ? guy ? (I question that because he did not look more than 16 years old and had a very quiet and feminine sounding voice and no name tag to let customers know his name) at the counter to look up from whatever he was doing on his cellphone. After telling him that I was there to pick a reserved car he asked me a question that I had to ask him to repeat at least 3 times before I could hear him enough to answer and it was very quiet for being an airport. He took my id and credit card to being the rental process and after having that card rejected because of an additional rental fee I was not informed of when making the reservation that would have put the total over the credit limit on the card. I give the guy another credit card that thankfully I had with me. Over a half an hour later while I am apologizing for the wait to the three customers that had showed up behind me that they guy at the counter couldn't be bothered to do because he was to busy texting on his phone. Supposedly he was having to get approval from his manager off site because the second card I gave him to charge the rental on had a card balance large enough to cover the cost was a reginal bank more known where I live then were I was at. Supposedly their system didn't recognize it and he was supposedly told that he had to call the company directly but because this card was a bank issued full on credit card and their offices by this time were closed for the holiday weekend. Finally after being at the counter for almost an hour this guy very nastily told me that he couldn't get a hold of the bank and could not rent to me. Never heard him actually talk to anyone. He did everything through text messages and no wonder he couldn't get a hold of someone at the bank. So I went to the next counter over and rented a car from a competitor with zero problems. Mind you I gave this other company the same card that supposedly Enterprises system wouldn't recognize. If the case was that they had over booked and didn't really have a car for me they could have just nicely said so and not have lost a customer for life or gotten such a bad review. read more

Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Bloomington, Illinois was the WORST car rental experience I've had in over my thirty years of renting vehicles. I was rear ended, had to drive my vehicle over 30 miles to leave it for repairs and Enterprise was suppose to bring me a comparable rental car, paid for by the driver's insurance company that hit me. Instead, I was brought a very, very small and filthy car (inside and out) ....actual dried food on front seats, that my own two children could not fit into. After trying for an hour, at the body shop that was to repair my vehicle, to get a larger vehicle for us, I ended up stuck with a horrible tiny car for 2 days until my own vehicle was repaired. The employee at Enterprise promised to call me by 3pm the same day or the following morning about a larger vehicle so that I could pick up my children, he never called. Enterprise also, to this day, has not refunded my $50 deposit on the returned vehicle. I was hit from behind, charged a $50 refundable deposit that has not been returned to me and provided the WORST vehicle that my family could not use. To make it worse, the Enterprise employee that brought this horrible rental car to me, delivered it with not even enough gas (not even a 1/4 tank) to get me home (30 miles) in 9 degree freezing temp. I will NEVER use Enterprise again, nor be forced through other insurance companies, to use Enterprise EVER again. I have contacted and filed a complaint with my auto insurance company. read more

We had to rent two cars within a 3 week Period. Pros: we got the cars on the day we needed them. Cons: we were disappointed with the customer service the second time. The first time we rented they were very friendly. The second time they didn't seem happy to see us even though the first rent went well. They also didn't listen to our request to have the car cleaned from the outside (because the first car we rented was FILFY from the outside). They said they would do it and lo an behold no clean car. Plus they didn't have a good selection (we needed SUVs both times). I called them the morning of the second rent asking if I could come in an hour earlier than I had reserved and they acted mad and said they couldn't do it. Anyway, it wasn't horrible experiences but it wasn't great. read more

While my Jeep was being worked on, Chrysler set me up with a rental car at Enterprise. I requested an SUV but they only had mid-size cars available. The guy at Enterprise sent someone to the CIRA location to get me a Chevy Tahoe. The service was great. I rent frequently for business. At least one car every other week either from Bloomington or an airport somewhere out of state. Sometimes there is billing problems and the car doesn't come with a full tank of gas, but for the most part I get a car on time to get me to the place I need to go. DO NOT opt for their road side assistance plan. It flat out sucks. I was stranded on the road for 3.5 hours once between Peoria and Galesburg. I was given a simple Sorry. After 3.5 hours I ended up finding someone else to come change the tire. I would have changed it myself but I was in a suit and 7 months pregnant. read more

This was the worst car rental experience I've ever had and I will never use Enterprise Rental again. I waited three days for a vehicle, after being told there were no available vehicles for me in the area. I received a phone call at 5:30 pm and was told a car was returned and I could pick it up in the morning. I was told by the sales associate the car would be ready and waiting for me. I arrived at the correct time I was told to come, to find out the vehicle had been rented to someone else. I was told to wait 15 min. for a different vehicle to be cleaned. I proceeded to wait over 30 min and received a call the vehicle was ready. I returned back to find out the vehicle was indeed not ready. An additional 30 min. later, I finally got a vehicle. This is the epitome of poor customer service, carelessness and dishonesty. This was a corporate rental, so you would think Enterprise employees would want to keep this valuable relationship and act in a more professional manner, but this was not the case. read more

Do not use Enterprise Rent A Car, especially in Decatur, Illinois. My husband is there now (Friday, September 4, 2015, trying to rent a car. They would not allow him to rent a car over the phone or take a credit car over the phone. He had to drive from Bloomington to Decatur to rent a car and then they asked him for a utility bill to prove he lived where his driver's license said he did. He showed them the car insurance and they wouldn't even take that! What the hell is up with this. I have rented cars before and never was asked for a utility bill. Someone please explain this to me. Rented a car this past weekend and the card I use I don't keep money on it, my money has been stolen MULTIPLE times with debit cards, so I load as I go. I did not plan on having my rental for as long as I did but at first they were nice enough to let me continue as long as I paid, of course but I was paying by day. So I missed their calls one of these days and saw they attempted to charge my card but I got off work later than usual and attempted to call but didn't realize it was way past their closing time. So I just decided to call them in the morning, I attempted to leave right after I called them and the car is gone..... I'm calling them the next day and checking to see if they have it and they're like "ohhhh I don't know, I just got here" per Gabe. Wait you're a small location that doesn't know where their car is , SUS much? At first I'm like okay well maybe somebody took it. I was letting them know about me filing a police report and they were like "Yeahhh okay uhhh just let us know." EXCUSE ME - I might have to pay for this car and your just non-chalant about the situation and then two days later they're asking for the keys..... well if you don't know where the car is "WHY ARE YOU ASKING FOR THE KEYS" . Then common sense doesn't kick in and tell them to collect the obvious items sitting in the car right in front of your face and you thought to grab NOTHING I will let you know now if I plan on stealing ANYTHING be damn sure it won't be a plan thought of within that week I had the car , trust and believe. read more

I absolutely love and frequent this location. I am never disappointed with my service. Brice and Sonni, both, go above and beyond to accommodate my rental needs. Not to take away from the rest of the staff because I've never had an issue. They all greet me and have friendly demeanors. I had reservations for several weeks so I could get my car repaired. I needed the car for 3 days. At 7:30a the day of, Enterprise called me to tell me they had no car for me. When I called back to inquire how this could happen the manager said it's been like that all week and I said he should have advised me earlier so I could make other arrangements. I have not used enterprise before, but my boyfriend had. Great service and great people. He wasn't impressed with the selection of car he got... Pretty sure is was a ford focus or something he would never buy! Anyways, I had parked my car at a friends house during her Bachlorette party last Saturday night, were it stayed over night, due to alcohol being consumed and not wanting to drive & chance that DUI! Then I got a phone call saying that her neighbor had backed into my parked car!! Ugh... Just my luck :/ everything is just at a stand still in my life right now as I'm in the middle of a bankruptcy claim... Then this happens... Just my luck. So after filing a police report & reporting the claim with insurance, the guy who backed into me was found at fault and his insurance would be covering my damages. Finally, something went right for me :) This also included a complimentary rental... Even better!!! So I called to set that up with the insurance company and they provided me with all the info I needed. I called Enterprise to set up a time & making sure all I'd have to do was sign paperwork when I came to pick it up, as I would be in a hurry to get to work... The guy on the phone was very nice & let me know everything would be ready & all I had to do is have my DL. Now only problem with that, is I had gotten a DUI in July 2011 & was still paying on fines, so my DL was being held at the court house until the fines paid in full. Very expensive mistake... Never again. Did I mention that the reason why I left my car at a friends in the first place?! I told him I had a state ID & was driving on my tickets. He put me on hold, then asked what they were for. When I told him they were for a DUI, he said he wouldn't be able to rent me a car. Even tho my driving status is valid with the sec of state... So IF I had my fines paid in full & in possion of my DL, they would have never known about my DUI and would have been rented my complimentary rental car with no questions asked.... SMH!!!! read more

Very courteous service at both ends, although the office was obviously very busy both times. I had to line this car up on very short notice (like, need it now - made a web reservation) and they had me on the road expeditiously. Reservation was for a 'standard' size, got a Titanium-trim level Ford Fusion that averaged about 30 mpg over nearly 2 weeks. Only glitch was with all the electronics on the car (which they didn't quite fully explain), a couple of days out I couldn't figure out why I was having trouble locking the trunk lid until I figured out it was the dang key-fob in my pocket. Took it back to the motel room and came back out and the car was locked! I would absolutely rent a car from this Bloomington agency again. read more

Recently, I was in an accident that totalled my paid off vehicle and it was the other persons fault 100%. While I was in the hospital recovering, my husband called enterprise to get a rental requesting an suv. When he went to pickup the car he ended up with a small car instead. My husband provided them with all the insurance information to use to charge the rental to and they still made him provide our personal credit card. (We only have an Emergency Credit Card) At the time of turning in the rental car, we find out that we had been charged "EXTRAS" not necessary and they charged our personal credit card over $500 because they said the insurance claim would not cover the "EXTRAS"...would've been nice to know this information at the time of picking up the car?? The rental cost of the car itself was $600. I was FURIOUS that I would have to pay for anything out of pocket after I was the victim of this accident taking away my vehicle. AND We have a family of seven...don't know about anyone else, but I know darn well I can't just throw $500 out the window. When I called to ask why they charged our credit card, they said it was explained to my husband at the time of picking up the vehicle that those were "EXTRAS"? I'm gonna tell you what, there is NO WAY IN HECK, my husband would've agreed to "EXTRA" anything out of our pocket!!!!!!! This company is a bunch of CROOKS!!!!
