Great place, great stay! Was just in town for the night for a concert but wanted something with character and style. And the mansion delivered. The staff was welcoming and the extras were well above a standard place to stay. Definitely can feel the history and fun touches of artifacts and photo albums of the history of the house add a lot. The breakfast was great and neighborhood is peaceful. Would def recommend and stay again!

This is an amazing Bed and Breakfast!! I decided to book something different on our road trip to CA and so happy I did!! I encourage anyone interested a relaxing stay in an historic gorgeous house and surrounding property with 5 star breakfast and customer service...stay here!!! The owner Pam gave us a tour and history of the mansion when we got there and then was available if we needed anything..like wine glasses for a drink on the huge veranda that evening. It was a warm day but thankfully the mansion has been retrofitted for modern conveniences like beautiful bathrooms and a.c.. Water and other sodas were available directly from a frig in the kitchen and snacks and chocolates could be found throughout the mansion. The breakfast made by Pam was the best I have ever had at a Bed and Breakfast. I will try to add pictures although it won't do it justice. Love the Vrooman Mansion and hope to go back one day!!

My friend had her wedding here and I stayed for the weekend. Everything was wonderful..the food, the staff, the settings. Couldn't ask for anything more perfect. Highly recommend this B&B to everyone.

We wanted a little more privacy for our wedding anniversary weekend, so we paid extra for a room in the carriage house.

They did a great job carving a hotel out of a historic building. My favorite part of this hotel is the fun bar in the basement. My second favorite thing is the coffee shop on the ground floor. It is so nice not to have to drive for a nightcap or your morning cup of joe. Cornerstone is an exciting part of the rebirth of downtown Washington. It's way more fun to stay here than some corporate motel!! PS. Wife wanted fluffier pillows.

I wish I had seen the review about room seven! I would've requested to have any other room. We got room seven, and had a similar, but maybe worse experience than the review we read about it. Not only did we hear voices until late in the night outside the window, but trucks and vans, etc. loudly going by honking screeching, etc. The windows in room seven are so thin you can hear anything from the outside. Additionally, the windows that are inside the room facing the inside hallway light up your room all night long. If you're going to stay there, please, please, please remember your sleep mask! We were there for five nights, and never saw another person working there. We had to contact someone via phone for Internet service, for the code to get in after 8 PM, and for additional clean towels. I really felt that it was done on a extremely thin shoestring budget. One more item, if you are the least bit immobile, do not consider this place. There are many steps in and out, and up and down to the breakfast room. The steps are very steep and narrow. I would probably not recommend it to anyone over 40 years old.

This location only accepts cash or check, no credit cards. I stayed at this property for 2 days. It was very clean and organized. It is a historical building that has been remodeled and to accommodate tourists and business people but to also keep the building historic. The property is owned and operated by the Forrest Historical Society. The preservation of this building was completed by the previous village president who has passed on. His legacy and contribution to this property is on display here. The building is across from the mini railroad track. It was not open while I was there. There is also a hat museum next door. Visitatin is by appointment only. Look for Jerry's Hat Museum of Facebook for more information. WIFI is available and works well. There is an individual bathroom for each of the rooms. Beth took very good care of us while we were there. I chose to cook my own breakfast the first day and there was plenty available to cook. The 2nd day, Beth came at 6:30 in the morning to cook for myself and the other guest (who was from Switzerland). All of food was fresh and excellent. She prepped oatmeal with blueberries and then served with a choice of more blueberries in a sauce or syrup. The coffee choice was above average and would be equivalent to Starbucks. She also served chopped fruit which was fresh, not from a can. There is one TV in the building in a common area but did not turn it on. There is a bar within walking distance but they serve no food. You can get your own beer at the Caseys (within 1/10th of a mile) and use the refrigerator in the kitchen. Restaurants in the area are limited. There is a family restaurant (Eagle's Nest) that has excellent ground beef tacos. Their peak business is during lunch. They are not so busy in the evening. Another choice the Cow Catcher but they close when on vacation, etc. Call before relying on going to eat at this location. You can cook in the hotel kitchen if you wish. But if you don't want to cook at all, then go to either of the restaurants in Forrest or drive to Fairbury which is 7 miles away. Don't drink much as there are local police that patrol the area. Be very careful with this. The whole place is very clean and maintained. They historical society takes a lot of pride on this building. If I had one criticism, it would be there could be more electrical outlets. But the building was built when electricity was used for lights only. I would not want to see them modify this. Just consider that if you pack in 10 devices that need to be charged, you cannot charge them all at once. This was a very good stay and exceeded my expectations.

Not only is the facility in a great downtown location (which was not that important to me) but the grounds are well kept, and upon further observation the surrounding neighborhood's yards are also very well kept. Plenty of parking when I arrived. The instructions that were sent via email are very detailed, not one thing was left out. Be aware that there is no live human being to check you in or out...think of it almost like an airbnb because you get a contactless check in with key code for the door. Arrive and Thrive Co is the company out of Cali that manages this property, they are super helpful and responsive via email but when I have tried to call them I haven't been able to reach a human being. James was the main contact who was very helpful during my two stays. He also recommended another property they manage (The Audrey apartments) which I also stayed at for one evening and was stellar overall. There is no food service at the rooms in the Pasfield House other than you can order 24 hours ahead of time via an app. If you are short on time, and don't know your way around, I highly recommend the avocado and toast breakfast. It was super convenient, I was staying two nights in the George and ordered breakfast for my second morning. The housekeeping staff put the box breakfast in my mini fridge the afternoon prior. For $14 it was a good deal, with two pieces of multigrain bread, avocado spread, 2 hard boiled eggs, an orange and juice. They also put out a toaster for me. There are two tiny ice machines on the second floor which comes in handy. The building was very quiet both times I stayed. The rooms especially the bathrooms are nicely kept and the bathrooms have been renovated. I liked the Hive because there was a trundle bed in the living room and a nice sized kitchen, plus a large master bedroom. Plenty of room for two people and very comfortable. Beautifully decorated living rooms and bedrooms, loved the history of the building. I was very pleased with my stays and I would highly recommend this to anyone staying in Springfield. Yes it is a bit more pricey than the standard chain hotels but it is worth it! SO CLEAN.
