The hosts allowed me leeway for breakfast, keeping the dining room open while I snarfed down an abundance of snacks, treats, breakfast items, fruit - they seem to have everything. Everything is so neat and so tidy, but not at all fussy. I honestly feel like I could stay here all winter. If you are ever in Champaign/Urbana, there's no other place to stay. What a delight and what a find - a glittering jewel amidst a pile of crass Comfort Inns and Highway Hotels. They initially gave me a room with no bed (likely the living room area for a suite) and they immediately fixed the problem. Once I got into my room, it was relaxing and wonderful. The king rooms have a walk in shower and the twin queen bed rooms have a bathtub/shower combo. I mention this as those traveling with kids might prefer the tub option. Every room has a mini fridge. Traveling with little ones here is nice because they can offer a microwave in your room if requested. Made a big difference for us traveling with a young one. The gym is small but they do have a peloton bike among other equipment like free weights and other cardio equipment. Complimentary breakfast has warm savory options like egg burritos both with and without meat. They also offer oatmeal, fruit, yogurt and bagels with plenty of refreshments. Parking is free and easy to find. There's also a complimentary shuttle to take you to places on campus if you have no car. There are also bikes at the hotel to get around. All in all, we enjoyed our stay as did our guests for graduation.

While I awaited repairs to the new home I bought, I stayed at Comfort Suites in Urbana, a brief four day sojourn, but LET. ME. TELL. YOU! Okay, so firstly, am I right on this or am I right?! Like, have you ever seen a Comfort Suites so highly rated? Maybe I'm unfamiliar with the brand, I admit, I think that might have been my second or third one (Chicago being my first and that one had windows that shook with the wind ;)), but not only was the room lovely (spacious for sure!) with all your typical amenities, but for me it was the STAFF. THE STAFF in this place (and yes, it deserves a shout) is like.... PHENOMENAL. STELLAR! OUT OF THIS WORLD. Now, before you think I'm over-exaggerating, let me tell you why... I'd not only returned to Champaign after being gone for 15 years, but I'd returned home after the dissolution of a 30 year marriage! On my own again, alone! Not only had I come back without a husband, but I'd returned without the awesomest use of my legs (after a tragic accident), so with two huge suitcases and a house I'd only seen through a videocam, I'd made a lot of big moves. Especially for someone with a pretty massive handicap! Well, Sales Manager Laura was there ALL. THE. WAY. She helped me physically, she sat down in my room with me, she like actually listened to me share my tale, she took GENUINE interest (there was no -hand out- or even an *ask*, I assure you!, (the only mention of money was my own, stating that I wished I could give her staff more for all *their* help (and her comment was only to say that they were hardworking and deserving, which they were!)). Laura was professional, but she made no effort in hiding her heart of gold, and I'm here to tell you, friends, it burst from her! She was professional, like I said, but she was so compassionate and caring and she shared her life with me in return! It made the whole thing feel like she was a friend! And, honestly, there was something really revelational in that (in that it was so rare, but sweet and earnest!). When my time was up, Laura helped me pack my bags, get the car around, and she hoisted those two huge bags into the my trunk like she'd been working life-long at the airport! From there, she bundled me up, sending me on my way, out into the great unknown! With a lot of hope, a lot of heart, and a huge smile! All of this hospitality -- yes, there's the word! -- all of this work in the name of care and concern for her customer! A stranger she'd just met! A person who, in the span of a couple days, made feel like family. Comfort as a brand, at least for a while, was using the slogan "Rested. Set. Go." but it was Laura who truly made me think of a real oldie. Something that felt more applicable to my time spent there... and like an old pair of jeans warm from the dryer, a real comfort classic, it was a staple in that industry -- "We'll leave the light on for you."

I was there during a snow storm & they did a good job of plowing the lot. Hot coffee available throughout the day which is nice since i work overnights. My big issue is that the room temp has a cap at 75 degrees and it shuts off frequently even when the auto is not on. We haven't even hit negative temps in the area yet so I'm curious how the heating is through the winter. There was also hair on 1 of the towns when I entered the room.

This hotel is in prime position. It's very walkable relative to campus, close to the hospital, restaurants are walkable, heck it even is close enough to my now favorite Chinese restaurant in town. It doesn't get too loud at night and getting onto the highway isn't too difficult. Additionally, I like their front lobby and breakfast. It is spacious, lots of room to work and have small meetings and the breakfast is solid, with plenty of options. Everything else is where the problems arise. To hotel itself feels a bit older and the furniture/rooms are a bit antiquated. Just little things like the shower tub not having proper water flow and the working desks being really small are what differentiate this hotel with others I've stayed at. My rooms have been a bit more cramped and uncomfortable. Additionally, I didn't find the pillows to be all that comfortable. Oh, and I can't forget to mention that I found bugs of the bed kind my first visit. At least the staff handled it efficiently for me! Lastly, my favorite hotel amenity, the gym, is simply not as built out as other hotel gyms. There are just three machines in there that again, feel really old, and no weight lifting equipment. For me, there are many reasons why I'd say this Hampton Inn is not my top pick, but depending on your situation, the location may just be worth it!

A drawer in a dresser in my room kept opening up just on its own - adding to the creepiness. Also, we didn't have a car and there is nothing walkable near this hotel so we had to Uber just to go get dinner. The coffee at the free breakfast was good. We stayed one night and checked out to go back to the hotel we had been at for the wedding which was only $30 more a night and where we could walk to things.

We didn't speak up about it because we didn't want to cause a problem and were only staying one night. Turns out we were making a $190 mistake without knowing it. Shortly after we checked out, we realized the hotel quietly snuck a $190 cleaning fee onto our bill without telling us. When I called about it, the front desk associate claimed our dog "peed on both beds." We explained that wasn't possible, as the dog was never left unattended in the room and was never let on the beds, but that didn't matter -- they were going to squeeze the extra money out of us and there was nothing we could do to stop it. The worst part: we realized we had slept on the same urine-stained mattress they made us pay to clean. Choose a different hotel, and if all else fails, just sleep in your car. Just don't come here.

The clean towels were in the vanity cubbies, but the only place we had to put our used, damp towels was one hook on the back of the door. Or draped over the furniture. We'd have been glad to reuse them if they were able to dry during the day. There wasn't a safe in the room. The in room one cup coffee maker had coffee, but the small tray that held the coffee pod was too narrow to fit the coffee maker. It clearly wasn't made for that model. Easy fix; order the correct pod tray. A sign on the mirror said we will change your towels and sheets daily, however you must let the office know if you need this service-unbeknownst to us. No signage indicated this. Over 3 days, we got new towels and trash taken out ONCE. No bed change-not even making the bed. Breakfast was what you'd expect at a budget hotel, coffee available 24 hours in the lobby, but was empty later at night. Staff was friendly and professional. I wasn't expecting the Four Seasons for the La Quinta price.

We ordered room seevixe for breakfast one day, and were disappointed that the food was cold & they forgot to provide salt, pepper & butter, so it was even colder by the time we ate it. The pool area was the same as when it was Hawthorn Suites, though this time the pool water was somewhat cold, cloudy, and the hot tub didn't work! We stayed here when it was Hawthorn Suites 4 years ago, and were disappointed with the changes.
