The manor is decorated for Christmas throughout and made it even more spectacular! The history of the manor is interesting and primarily featured Hazel Buck Ewing's life. She was an equestrian and the stables were part of the tour. In each room a docent shared interesting factoids and historical facts about the manor. The cutting edge technology for the time period was also promoted, such as the concrete beams made to look like wood, and the "automatic" horse watering troughs. The manor was actually lived in until 1969, but was decorated for the holidays in 1930's style. The tour is a one night event and could easily become a holiday tradition.

Palace Events provided drapery, lighting and a chandelier, which created the perfect setting! Courtney was the coordinator we worked with and she was polite and very organized. She also was proactive in seeing an issue with the lighting and fixed it before I had to mention anything. In addition, we used their Standard Photo Booth and were so glad we did! Sam was easy to work with and created the perfect photo design for our wedding! There were many options, including videos and GIFs--our guests had a blast with it! Upon arriving in our room - again first glance was okay. But there was a large flickering light fixture in the bathroom, and when we visited relatives in another room the same thing was happening there. Not a deal breaker, but oddly annoying - though not as annoying as the barely lukewarm shower in the morning. Oh yeah - no bathroom exhaust fan either. WHY DON'T ALL HOTEL BATHROOMS HAVE AN EXHAUST FAN? For heating/cooling there was no 'constant fan' option in our room (though our relative's room DID have that feature), which meant overnight the a/c went ON AND OFF loudly on an irregular basis, usually just went we briefly dozed off. And when it was off you could hear every door slam, people talking in the hallway, doors slamming, and people running back and forth down the hall. That is until the a/c went briefly on again. Loudly. We asked the front desk for a fan (to use as some kind of white noise device) but they didn't have one. Pillows were flat and hard, only compounding what was easily the worst night sleep (or lack thereof) I have ever had in a hotel. And I have stayed in a few skeevy joints. The hotel bar apparently closed early on the night we wanted to stop in for a cocktail, so we missed out on that. The whole 'closing early' thing is also a pet peeve of mine. We were told we could not bring our own cocktails down to the lobby, though there was a large table of boisterous teenagers playing poker - so I guess that was ok but not four adults sharing a quiet drink. The room keys were very temperamental - working sometimes and not others. We were told when signing in not to keep keycards near credit cards or they wouldn't work (never had that issue other places, but whatever). Even keeping the key in a separate and empty shirt pocket did not prevent the wonky access issues, which required a few visits to the front desk to have the keycard 'fixed'. Complimentary breakfast was ok, though our party did have some disagreements on the food quality. In all fairness it was about what I was expecting. Short version: noisy, uncomfortable, noisy, and uncomfortable. I can't stress how horrible the overnight stay was here. Sure - your mileage may vary but you have been warned.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would…read more I don't even know where to begin. Room problems - Room keys and censors are awful! I think I had to go up to the front desk at least 23 times and had to get about 8 different new keys because of how much the keys would not work when I needed to get in my room. - during one of the occasions where I needed my key fixed the man said "you need to be more careful and keep the card away from your phone you've been up here way too long many times" like excuse me maybe 1. Learn manners 2. Figure out how to fix the damn key censor - No comforter for beds just a cheap thin scratchy blanket covered with sheets - only 1 singular sheet on the bed - bed was lumpy and EXTREMELY uncomfortable - pillows were ungodly lumpy - I asked for extra pillows because my mom was staying 1 night with me and it took them 3 HOURS TO GET ME EXTRA PILLOWS and yes I did go up to the desk multiple times during those 3 hours to get those pillows - No phone in the room to contact front desk Breakfast area - Breakfast was awful - The waffle maker had 2 types of waffle batter original and banana bread. The banana bread was rancid and sour and when I told the front desk about it they said "well there's nothing I can do about it" - Breakfast was only 2 hours 7-9 during the week and 8-10 during the weekend. and for a person who either has class or work during the weekday they have to be gone before breakfast even starts WORST PART - I originally booked my stay with my debit card but life happens and I had to switch to my chime card. THEY CHARGED ME TWICE so instead of just $485 being the cost of my stay I payed $970. Like this hotel isn't even near nice enough for me to be charged $1,000 and I've called about it countless times and they REFUSED to refund me one of the charges. So technically they STOLE almost $500 dollars from me. Don't come here I've stayed at run down motels nicer than this place.
