Enterprise came through for me when I needed a rental after totaling my car on some black ice. Customer service was top notch. The representative explained how the rental process works, what options I had as far as gas, roadside assistance, etc. The representative came to my house, picked me up ( just like the commercial says!) And brought me back to the office to finish the paperwork. And in no time I was on my way in a nice, clean, safe sedan! My only negative, was the price for the rental (hence the 4 stars) It was more than I anticipated, as I had not intended to ever need a rental car. But, I was in a pinch, so I tightened my belt and, was able to secure the rental. I actually needed it for longer than I thought, I gave them a quick phone call and they easily extended the rental. If I find myself in this sitch again, I will def. turn to my local Enterprise. They really will pick you up!!! read more

If I could give 5 stars to an individual person instead of just the company, they would go to Josh at the Augusta Enterprise location. We rented our car in Boston and had driven all the way to Augusta Maine when we got a flat. We (ourselves) changed out the tire with the spare in the trunk but didn't feel comfortable driving the car afterwards. After a few unsuccessful attempts at contacting a real person on the Enterprise 800 number, we finally got a customer service rep (Ashley) who told us that we would have a new vehicle us at the Augusta location 6 miles away from us. Once we got there, we were greeted by Josh who helped us get through the transition of swapping out our car without any hassle. He was very friendly and helpful. read more

Very unhappy with my recent rental experience. Reserved a Tahoe sized SUV in July for the Xmas Holiday for an 11 day rental. Picked up my SUV on the date and time of my reservation and received a Ford Expedition. No complaint/concern with the make/model provided what I never gave a thought to was needing to check the unit was road legal. The unit we were provided was 4,500 miles overdue for an oil change, was 2-month past due its annual inspection and 2-month expired on its registration. I called asking for a replacement to be told I was ok that it was a rental and their was grace periods we wouldn't get pulled over or fined. Than I was told don't worry any fine goes to Enterprise. I continued to push the issue and told Enterprise to find a new rental from the surrounding stores and to call me back. The rental agency NEVER called me back. Beware you may be drive units that are not road legal. Very disappointed. Gave 2 stars because the vehicle while not legal was great, otherwise would have been 1 - star. I also had to call the agency 4 times to get the satellite radio activated. read more

Had reservation for car yesterday and waited over an hour after being told a car was being returned we could rent. Unfortunately, no car was returned and we had to leave. Two stars are for the manager's who drove us to our next destination, since this is a city with very limited ride shares and taxis. This has happened before where Enterprise.com will confirm reservations and locations do not have any vehicles. Call before going!!! read more

I don't understand the bad rating for this business! I couldn't have asked for a better experience during a very difficult time in my life. I was in a wreck that totaled my car at about 10pm, I called my insurance company at 3am, who put in a reservation for a rental car. I called them as soon as they opened and they picked me up within 15 minutes (or less) of me calling. The checkin process was very fast and efficient. The condition and cleanliness of the car was superb. I kept the car a few days after my insurance company stopped paying and they did not call to harass me about it. The checkout process was exceptional-I paid my balance, he checked the car, and I was on my way. Thank you Enterprise. read more

Worst experience I have ever had. I heard from lots of other disappointed customers the day they arrive to get their rental vehicle, they have some excuse of why they don't have the car you asked for. I was needing a car for a family vacation, so thought if I ordered it well enough in advance, I wouldn't have the problem that others had. I rented it 9 months in advance and checked on it a month before my vacation, all good..but still checked again 2 weeks before, then the week before we needed to go, still all good..but the day of pick up...ohhh boy!! I worked on this vacation for 9 months, was taking my 86-year-old mom and 4 generations to Disney's 50th.. So I rented an 8-passenger Chevy Suburban. When we got there to pick it up, low and behold, as others have told me, they did not have my car..Oh but they could give us something else...a Nissan of some sort...it wouldn't even hold a cooler, never mined 7 people and their luggage. I have no idea why they run a business like this but I can say one thing...Never Again will I use this company, and if you are smart you will STAY FAR AWAY FROM ENTERPRISE RENT A CAR FROM AUGUSTA MAINE!!! read more

I rented a vehicle after an accident through my insurance. The vehicle was reserved under a different name incorrectly and when I mentioned this to the branch manager he told me it was fixed. Took my money. Let me sign for it. And gave me the keys to a small SUV that was filthy both inside and out. To his credit Joe M. Did apologize on the mess, but not his overall rude attitude of someone that was taking his bad day out on customers. For insurance purposes I needed him to follow through on fixing my paperwork, but never did. He lied about the condition of the car (bad alignment/damaged electrical) and said he would note those issues as to not fall against me. He never did. Since my name was never corrected on the forms he let me drive off the lot an unauthorized user. And he's the manager in Augusta, Maine. Avoid this headache location and business. read more

Worst prices. This location charges $48 a day for an economy car when Portland charges $14 a day. Save lots of money by going to Portland. I also called to have the price matched or reduce and the young lady working on January 18 at 3:31pm said "no." read more

My employer rented a car for me from enterprise Rent-A-Car in Augusta. They picked me up to an a half hours late. When I called to find out when they were coming to get me a woman named Lexi was very rude and unprofessional. Some of the worst service I've ever had while renting a car. I always rent from Enterprise and any issue that I do have are when I enter in the wrong information.

I rented a car from this location that was inoperable and waited two days without transportation and unable to get food and provisions due to no transportation. I was fully assured that the car was operable in the snow which it was not. I was informed by a tow driver 2 days later that the car had summer tires and the car they gave me did not have good traction for driving in the snow hence the reason the car was sliding all over the road and I was unable to get to the main highway. I incurred non refundable hotel and pre paid holiday dinner expenses for 2 days due to no car and was also charged the days the car was inoperable as well as the daily car insurance. I've left several messages for the "corporate office in St Louis" but as the other reviews no return phone call or email. I am contacting the FTC and making a complaint. To charge customers and cause customers to incurr out of pocket expenses and say to a customer to use their AAA service and have the car towed to enterprise is rude and unprofessional. I agree with the previous review they do not answer the phone as I also observed when I was at the enterprise office. I will in the future use a private car service if enterprise is the only available car rental. I am asking for full reimbursement of this charge to my credit card. My husband was hit by another vehicle and he decided to rent a vehicle from Enterprise in Augusta ME until his truck was ready. The employees at first were very nice and friendly, set up the paperwork and verified coverage with the insurance company. They took our credit card number "just in case the insurance company did not pay". I verified with the insurance company that the car rental would be covered 100% and forwarded the email to one of the employees at Enterprise. We returned the car after my husband's truck was repaired. A month later, I noticed on my credit card statement a charge of $600.60 for Enterprise. I contacted Enterprise and they claimed they received only partial payment from the insurance company. The insurance company emailed me a copy of the cashed check (paid in full) that was sent to Enterprise. It took months, but my credit card company finally credited my account the money. Enterprise in Augusta must have caller ID because they would not pick up my calls when I phoned. I also contacted corporate office and the gentleman was very nice and told me he would look into it for me and get back to me via email or phone call. Never received that call. My family will never rent a vehicle from Enterprise, very bad experience for us! read more

Read the fine print. Enterprise closes at noon on Saturday. You will be charged for the weekend even if you drop the car off anytime after 12:00 pm Saturday. The fine print reads "If Vehicle is returned during non-business hours or to any place other than the Branch Address on page 1,all rental charges incurred through the time an employee of Owner checks in Vehicle are Renter's responsibility. " In my case, I rented Thursday evening for a week as I did not know how long I need the rental. As it turned out, I was able to return the rental Saturday at 1 pm, dropped key in drop box and would have been charged the weekly rate had I not said 'you've got to be kidding me.' Charlie did discount me; I still ended up paying $300 for less than 48 hours. Silly me. I expected the fee to revert to the daily rate and only be charged for actual time the vehicle was used. read more

I needed a car for work as mine was in the shop getting body work done. I used the online site to reserve the car I wanted and then called and asked about having someone pick me up. The lady who picked me up was an intern for the company and she was professional, courteous, had a warm smile, and just put me at ease. The rental process was super fast, and we walked out to do a walk around of the car I was to rent. While doing the walk around I noticed the tread on the rear tires was low and the manager immediately put me in another car, which happened to be a little bigger, but kept the price the same. The fact is, that I have done business with Enterprise several times, and they have always taken care of my needs and made sure I left happy. The cars they provide are very nice, and while other companies provide lip service in regards to customer service, Enterprise delivers actual results.
