Swimming... not possible. The dock is just an iffy looking porch with some steps leading directly into the lake.. no beach area. There is a dock area for some boats which looks newer and is somewhere you can take a book to sit and read or bask in the sun. The ok (not bad):... nothing to do for the kids. No pool, no real swimming area, no activities. One small swing set with a wooden fire truck looking structure where the kids can play in but beware of giant spider webs and spiders... This location isn't too far from the Waterville area where there is still nothing to do but many shopping areas and food. Children'a museum, two cent bridge... 5 below, McDonald's play place. The bad: Poison Ivy... be careful when going to hook up your camper to the septic and electric and water. Poison ivy ruined my husbands week(s). Not bad for the full hookup and price.

I had to come up to Augusta for my college roommate's wedding. Rather than drive at least 6.5 hours…read more(or truly 8 or so including breaks and traffic), I did the slightly more expensive, but much faster alternative: fly. I flew into Boston and then took one of those fun 6-7 seat Cape Air flights straight into Augusta. That was a fun experience on its own. The airport itself is small, but has a few fun things of note. It's one of the rare situations where you can arrive within 40 minutes of your flight, get thru security, and then end up on your connecting flight without having to undergo more security. With a couple people at the counter and a couple TSA security guards, staff is tight, but effective. You get called to go into security one by one, thus leading to a pretty fast process. What's nice about this is if you have a connecting flight in Terminal C at Logan. You bypass doing security again and can end up at your connecting gate within minutes. I ended up booking two separate itineraries (Cape Air to/from Augusta and Jet Blue to/from Boston) just because it ended up cheaper. I wasn't checking in baggage, but I was able to book my flights within a short connection of one another to optimize my time. My flight into Boston landed at 4:14 and departed to Augusta at 5:35, plenty of time. I was more ambitious on my return and booked the 7am to reach Boston at 8:15ish to depart at 9. Still plenty of time, although weather can definitely play a role. When arriving, one thing that's available here is the Hertz car rental. I didn't use it, but it's good to know for business travelers. Just make sure you arrive when Hertz is actually open for the day. If you take one of the last flights, the Hertz station is closed. Also wanted to note that one of the women behind the counter (think she works for Hertz?) was nice enough to drop me to my hotel as it seems like taxis/Ubers/Lyfts are quite infrequent in the area. Unfortunately Sweet Chili Thai is closing soon, but that's a random perk of this airport too.

She was very polite and explained if we needed anything to call anytime and also who the housekeepers were at the rental. Upon going to my room we ran into both housekeepers and right away they also treated us like family; my husband found that relieving. The room was very clean, spacious, filled with all the cooking and accessories a gal could need. Full fridge, full stove and oven, microwave, very, "very", comfortable beds, and flat screen T. V. For the person that needs space to get business work done, there is a quaint area in the room; plus a dinner table for 2-3. Laundry is on site along with a swimming pool during the summer months. WOW, now that is saying a lot!!! There are plenty of shops and stores in the area. Sheila & Kent makes this place easy to give an AWESOME review!!

I saw an article about RailCycling, and we thought we'd give it a try. We were not disappointed! So what are RailCycles? Think of a tandem recumbent bike, that runs on train tracks. We started at a historic train station in Unity (unfortunately, we were there too early to partake of the ice cream shop that was housed in one of the buildings, but we did browse a soap shop). Check out the tiny museum, which doubles as a rudimentary gift shop. We then sat down on our Cycle. They are somewhat adjustable for height, but not completely. I'm short (5' tall), and the closest I could get to the pedals had me reaching, because of the placement of the brake cable. When I tried one of the others, the closer setting was too close (maybe sized for a child). My seat also seeped water (though it hadn't rained for days), and I ended up with a very wet butt. The seats also aren't very wide, so take that into account. Once we got started, it was a lot of fun - one major roadway across which Logan stopped traffic so we could cross, followed by a stretch of track that traversed the woods with their beautiful fall colors, then hugged past Unity Pond, through a swampy area (where we were treated to three lovely herons flying past), and across a railroad bridge before stopping to turn around and head back. All the while we pedaled steadily, getting exercise as well as a fun ride through the woods. When we did reach that halfway point, I was disappointed - it all goes by so quickly! The entire trip takes an hour or so. It's not a difficult pedal, though there are some slight grades (remember, these are train tracks, and trains don't do well going up and down hills). I think that if the group (there were five couples, including us) were having trouble keeping up, our guide would have slowed down to accommodate us. But if you're looking for a strenuous workout, you won't find it here. We enjoyed the ride, spent some time together laughing, talking and taking in the scenery - great activity for a beautiful autumn day in Maine. Longer would have been better for us, but Logan did say that a longer ride is planned for October!
