Virginia is a sweet host. Very nice stay there about two years ago. That's why I'm heading back there tomorrow.

The good: ... beautiful views of the Webber Pond... granted there are about less than 10 sites that…read moreare waterfront but from our site, we were still able to see the lake. Swimming... not possible. The dock is just an iffy looking porch with some steps leading directly into the lake.. no beach area. There is a dock area for some boats which looks newer and is somewhere you can take a book to sit and read or bask in the sun. The ok (not bad):... nothing to do for the kids. No pool, no real swimming area, no activities. One small swing set with a wooden fire truck looking structure where the kids can play in but beware of giant spider webs and spiders... This location isn't too far from the Waterville area where there is still nothing to do but many shopping areas and food. Children'a museum, two cent bridge... 5 below, McDonald's play place. The bad: Poison Ivy... be careful when going to hook up your camper to the septic and electric and water. Poison ivy ruined my husbands week(s). Not bad for the full hookup and price.

Beautiful place to get away that offers family fun and from what I've seen fishing. The sunset was…read moregreat when we got there and just as beautiful when we had to go. People were nice and the place was comfy, tidy, and the owners where understanding of after hour check in and very accommodating. Definitely a place to stay again when I'm back that way and recommend it to anyone.

This is our fourth treat to camp megunticook and probably our last…read more Has the camp ground changed no, still nestled in the Maine woods, with a cliff top view you can walk to and see the ocean beyond. However it's been sold out to a corporation and as it's typical they are only after the $$$. You can not pre book for the following year, and the have a season camp manager, who although very nice has no answers to anything other than call the 1-800 number. We met many ppl over the week we were here and most of them repeat travelers who agree this may be their last year due mainly to the attitude and corporate hospitality, aka none. It's a shame, this was a nice family feel and accommodating camp ground. Our family have been coming here for three generations. The campground itself is pretty much unchangeable, the amenities could be upgraded and spruced up, but we come for the feel of the grounds. The cold corporate feel it's already having is making us think twice sadly.

Overall this is an adequate camp ground. I felt like the website was somewhat misleading because…read moreit seemed like there was access to the sea (if your a rock climber you can make it otherwise it's not safe. The river that is on the property is more like a stream and aside of looking at it there isn't much else you could do with it... You have to pay additional for Internet Access which is typical for state campgrounds but I thought it was included... The site itself was clean and well maintained. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well kept. This place was ok overall but I expected more based on what we paid per night....
