The room was very clean, spacious, filled with all the cooking and accessories a gal could need. Full fridge, full stove and oven, microwave, very, "very", comfortable beds, and flat screen T. V. For the person that needs space to get business work done, there is a quaint area in the room; plus a dinner table for 2-3. Laundry is on site along with a swimming pool during the summer months. It's in a grove of pine trees, and from the picture window I could see Osprey, Eagles, Herons, and loons. This place would be ideal if you were a self-contained family with young kids that wanted face time and easy activities. At night you could not hear even one internal combustion engine, but the loons kicked up around 3 a.m. - fantastic!. The sheets were clean, the kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies though you need to bring your own food. it does have plumbing and hot water. I didn't use the fieldstone fireplace but it would be a fine way to spend the evening. the folks at the next cabin used the outdoor fire ring.

The cottages are clean, well stocked, safe, and beautifully decorated. Each cottage has a grill, well stocked kitchen with utensils and pots and pans ready for every need from burgers to lobsters! They also provide recreational equipment for fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and just chilling out on the lawn, in the houseboat, on the dock, or in a hammock under the trees. The next day we kayaked over to another island where an eagle nest had been reported. We enjoyed swimming at the beach. Be sure to bring water shoes as there are some freshwater clams living here. I truly felt like I was finally on vacation when we were all sitting by the shore of the lake at sunset, listening to the loons sing, with fellow campers playing guitar. Kids were playing by the swings waiting for the campfire to be ready for marshmallows. I wish I could have stayed longer. This place is well taken care of, very friendly hosts. They allow well-behaved pets too, which was nice for our new pup.

The cottage sleeps up to 6 people and has an fully equipped kitchen with basic essentials. I was surprised to see there were coffee filters, garbage bags, dish soap, and basic kitchen appliances. The bathroom comes with toilet paper, hand soap, and a blow dryer. The beds were comfortable (we weren't expecting that considering we've slept on stiff beds many times during our travels). The biggest surprise of all was that the fireplace comes with firewood! You can also use one of their rowboats or kayak for free during your stay. We are very happy with the cottages and would love to come again. It really is a great getaway.

The cabin I rented was perfect for me and a very large dog; we sat on the deck and watched the boats come and go. There was a dock with boats to use and Adirondack chairs scattered throughout so you could just watch the harbor. All the cabins are off the main road and tucked back towards the water. We use the library built by the Thompsons, with a focus on books by Maine authors, or set in Maine, plus the latest bestsellers. We use the books on local trails and sites to explore the area. Karen and Merle and the staff are always helpful, and have really helped us get to know the area. We'll be back in years to come, and are considering adding a May visit. After all, we want to get to know Maine in the springtime, as well as at the height of summer. And we know a wonderful place to serve as our home base.

Our cottage was nestled in a lovely pine grove and had a view of Long cove and "Southern Island" (Owned by Jamie Wyeth) at the mouth of Tenants Harbor. We were able to keep the cost of our vacation down a bit since these were "housekeeping" cottages with a refrigerator and a dining area as well as pots and pans and plates and dishes----so we "cooked in" for breakfast and lunch. Debbie Johnson, the owner was a wealth of information about what to do and where to go...especially with recommendations of places off the beaten path. We plan visit again next time we are in this part of Maine.
