At Rent A Wreck, we rented an economy car for 5 days and spent $95.78 after a military discount with no insurance through them because they don't offer it. -The only negative. I then get a call several hours later from the manager at that location telling me my card on file was to be charged $400 for a smoking fee. I then see that this location charged my card in addition to payment received from my insurance for charges that should never have been incurred to begin with. $400 from and $250 they knocked it down to from my insurance. I called the location, as had been the entire experience, the clerk was rude and said the manager started the refund but it wasn't approved through corporate and they'd let me know when it was. NO. Then when I tell her that is unacceptable, and that I want a receipt for proof the refund was processed to my card because I could give less than half a damn what the internal process for refunds that are FRADULENT charges is, she hangs up on me and turns the answering machine on so now I am unable to get ahold of anyone. . The extremely tan woman in neon behind the counter had attitude. She refused to let me use my work credit card because it didn't have MY name on it. Not only is that the rudest most unprofessional thing this older lady could say to me, but it was in front of a packed place! When we went out to go over the rental car before giving it to me behind schedule (which made me late for work) I asked if she had all of the scuffs and marks on the car documented beforehand. She shrugged it off and acted offended when I took pictures of them before leaving the lot. This lot is cram packed and tiny with narrow parking spaces and tow trucks just sitting around so its very hard to maneuver around. I was leaving my cadi there and she told me it was too close to the yellow line of the parking space so I had to move it... Once again, are you serious?!?! I backed my cadi up and pulled it back in an inch over because there was no more room or else I'd be too close to the other line. The car I got had hair in it, crumbs on the seat, and bleach stains on the seat. The stearing was loose and and hit bumps like I was riding in the back of a pick up truck going down a dirt road. The Enterprise in the parking lot saw me and told me that Enterprise is open and has cars! I went the Enterprise on 9000 Niagara Falls Blvd requested a full size car, didnt have one, they gave me a small truck for the same price. Very efficient process and I am renting again!

If you are coming down Pearl Street towards Downtown don't get confused as there is a Hertz sign (with an arrow) on the left however the location is actually on the right (follow the arrow). I've used this location twice, once was due to an auto accident and my insurance provider sent me here, the second was because of a different matter. Due to previously being a client and their location being downtown I took a gamble and went back. I used to travel frequently for work and used a variety of companies, I can't say Hertz was my favorite but once again they are nearby and I had a previous experience locally. For my own experience being a AAA member I looked up a quote online and saw a great deal, not making a reservation I went down the next day and made an inquiry which was quoted to me over $300.00! I then mentioned I was a AAA member and that "discount" only brought the price down slightly. I reluctantly put my reservation in and walked home, since I had not made one no car would be ready. This factor actually helped me. Upon getting home I went back to the AAA website and saw the deal they offered which was HALF of what I was quoted in store. So I called the location back and inquired what the deal was, the attendant had no clue and never heard of a deal that low so he suggested I book it there and so I did. The pickup was easy enough, even though you book online through the site they still place a $200 hold on your debit as I am an American that doesn't have credit cards so I begrudgingly accepted that fact and went on my way. I ended up extending my rental for a few days which was greatly discounted as well, probably because of AAA booking but it is easy enough to return due to their large parking lot and key drop box located on the garage door. The facility isn't large or comfortable and has very limited hours therefore I was not blown away by their facility nor was the service provided anything spectacular, I know I maybe a local but I assume a high level of service should be provided no matter who walks in the door. They provide a luxury rental service and although the only location that I know of Downtown they represent a company and if needed again I'll go to a different place.
