    Nutella crepe with vanilla gelato
    Frank P.

First of all, the little town this place is in is absolutely beautiful, by far my favorite of the 4 towns I have been to in cinque terra. This place provided me with one of the best crepes I have ever eaten. I got one with Nutella and vanilla gelato on top, did not disappoint. Very nice staff, reasonable pricing.

Cool little cafe with amazing breads and coffee, you catch a train from Florence and you make your way to the town, most of the locals hang out to have an expresso or an americano. It was a good stop and sacred a few euros by skipping the place with the ocean view for a good coffee and some pastries.

This place is all about the aperitivo hour. The food menu didn't look like much to write home about, but there's endless free nibbles with your drinks at aperivto hour (like every good place in Italy) and there's semi-obscured views of the water and sunset, so it makes for a pretty relaxing end to the day. You'll catch the locals inside enjoying the place as much as the tourists outside. Service was friendly and drinks were reasonably priced with all cocktails for 5 Euros at happy hour, many a negroni and aperol spritz have been enjoyed here.

Fantastic bruschetta and gelato, grazie mille. A place the locals enjoy and they can make almost anything you ask for.

This place is literally an oasis!!…read more When visiting Cinque Terre, you have the option of taking a train across all five of the villages. Each village is about 5 minutes apart, which makes for a fun day village hopping! However, there's one commute that I recommend you skip the train and take a hike ;) This is the hike from Corniglia (3rd village) to Vernazza (4th village). You can start from either village, but the pathway is more scenic from Corniglia to Vernazza. Now, why am I saying all this? I say this because Il Gabbiano is located at the middle point between the hike! The hike itself is not that challenging, but depending on the temperature, you will break a sweat! We went in early September and it was still hot! (80F). There's also a very chill cat that lives by the store - he/she might be the owner, so be sure to give the cat a pet as a sign of respect and gratitude. The store has a variety of different fruit, all freshly squeezed! I got the watermelon juice - it was a bit expensive tho, but I guess when you're the only store on a hike, you could charge whatever you want! It's worth it. They have a beautiful outdoor sitting area on top of the hill. Enjoy your drinks while basking in the views. Bonus: along the hike, you'll run into countless olive trees, lime trees, and even wild fig trees! I grabbed one fig off the tree and it was so sweet!
