The class is about 2 hours long and comes with all the ingredients to make the pesto. lunch and drinks were also included. Our instructor, who's also the owner taught us some great techniques so we can also make the best pesto at home. Just simple fresh ingredients and a good time. There was also a contest for whoever makes the best pesto. Whoever makes the best, wins a prize !!! We also got entered in to a dance competition. And guess who won? Yours truly. This was truly a one of a kind experience. We had so much fun learning, eating, drinking, and shaking our tail feathers all while having the best view of Manarola. We decided to do their famous pesto-making class, and honestly, this ended up being such a fun, enjoyable, and entertaining experience. The owner, who leads the class, was so approachable and eloquent, and I really loved that it wasn't just about making pesto. He actually took the time to explain the ingredients, the tradition, and the proper way to make it, so the whole thing felt surprisingly educational while still being very relaxed and fun. Music was great, lots of energy, beautiful views, and just a really happy, social vibe, that was the atmosphere. You're basically making pesto while overlooking one of the most picturesque views in Cinque Terre, so it's hard not to have a good time. At the end, you get to enjoy the pesto you made completely from scratch with a really good-size charcuterie board with fruits, cheeses, cold cuts, bread... Would I come here expecting a Michelin-worthy meal? No. But would I recommend it for the experience, the view, the ambience, and a fun afternoon in Manarola? Absolutely. We started with the cheese plate and some moscato. I didn't like a couple of the cheeses but the wine was great. For dinner, I ended up with the classic lasagna and I thought it was just ho hum. We waited an hour for the meal and it took us almost half an hour to get a drink and then they ignored us for an hour after that. Others around us, locals, were being charmed and served quickly and professionally. We were treated as if we were nothing of value. Dinner was the worst pasta I'd had in Italy. By the time we left I'd had it. I'm sure some people get good meals there. We are very respectful and kind to all servers wherever we go so there was not call for this. First she brought us our water and after we saw her leave the restaurant. We didn't pay any attention to it until we noticed her return holding a plastic bag. Now we got a little curious and sure enough she pulled out a frozen lasagna and put it in the microwave. At this point the only thing they brought us was a bottle of water so I immediately went to the counter and said no thank you to the food. I refuse to pay for something they are simply microwaving. Cinque Terre is a once in a lifetime experience for most, I can eat a frozen lasagna anytime. Our water was €2.50. My change only added to about €1.90 so I attempted to give him a €5 to pay for the water and he refused to give me change. He even threatened to call the police. After having to argue with him for awhile and him refusing to give me my change I decided to grab another water for the €2.50 and left.

We got lucky with a little table on the terrace overlooking Riomaggiore's tiny harbor. The setting was so picturesque and charming-- colorful boats, the sea, and quintessential Cinque Terre atmosphere. The service was nice and welcoming, and the food was really good. We started with burrata with sashimi and tomato, which was such a delicious combination. By the way, tomatoes here in Italy are the juiciest and flavorful that I had ever tried. For the main, I had pasta... and somehow I completely forgot to take a photo. I must have either been very hungry or it must have been really good, because I absolutely devoured it. Of course, we had a couple of Aperol Spritzes to match the vibe, and they were just as good as they looked. A lovely little spot with great local approval, beautiful views, and food that definitely delivered. Sometimes that's all you need.
