Sign in front of the door said "fresh homemade pasta." My friend ordered the pasta for 20 euros. I saw 2 boxes of Barilla pasta behind the counter and asked if this is what they would be serving us - they told us that this was just for emergencies. What came was pasta that looked like boxed pasta. Had the consistency and flavor of boxed pasta as well. When we asked the waiter, he was adamant that the pasta was fresh and even brought us 2 separate bowls to show us what their pasta looked like vs barilla.... they totally did not serve us the fresh pasta! Great customer service! Waitress's very friendly unlike other restaurants in Cinque Terre. Food was very good and creative. If your tired of traditional cuisine this is the place for you. Enjoyed the octopus with potatoes and the spaghetti which was very simple a delicious. Also tried the salmon tartar and swordfish that was seared on one side. I would go with the salmon burger which I saw someone else order over the tarter . The burger looked great. The coconut flan was also very tasty. Excellent service and food. We got there early (for Italy), just after 7, and were able to get in right away. I'd highly, highly recommend the lemon scented spaghetti with mussels. First off, the Buranco winery is a great experience and they also own this restaurant which didn't disappoint. There were four of us and we all had different meals. I had the pesto gnocchi which was succulent and a good serving size. My friends had the pesto lasagna and the spaghetti in lemon sauce with shrimp. The lasagna had great flavor and was a good sized portion. The spaghetti was unreal and everyone was jealous with the fresh lemon sauce and shrimp which was actually shelled (this was rare for most of the other restaurants we visited). My wife had the pistachio tuna where the looks were deceiving because we thought it was over cooked but we were so wrong. The tuna was juicy and the pistachio crust wasn't overwhelming. We were too full to have dessert but the limoncellos were a perfect end to a great meal. read more

This place was DA BOMB! My wife and I returned here again for a 2nd night. The servers were super fun and cool, and the food was freaking delicious. We couldn't believe that there wasn't a longer line here as many of the other more popular/well-known restaurants in Monterosso all had at least hour long waits with tourists standing outside getting hungry and cranky on a weekend night. We were seated right away here and all our entree's and apps were great: from the octopus salad to the tuna steak and pesto lasagna and tiramisu for dessert. I think I even got a couple free shots of grappa and limoncello at the end. One of the more memorable meals we had during our 2 wks in Italy. read more

We ordered the mussels for starter and their today's special which was lasagna bolognese and fresh anchovies pasta. The muscles were very delicious especially with lemon juice! The lasagna was good but it wasn't anything special. I feel like it was a flavor I encounter often in other restaurants in the States. For some reason I was expecting cold pasta but it was served hot with cooked anchovies. The texture of the pasta was excellent but the flavor was a little too salty for me. We had a wonderful wine tasting at Buranco vineyard just up the hill and the owner of the winery told us they also had a restaurant in town. What started as a memorable wine tasting turned into a complete evening experience by having a local bottle of Buranco Syrah with the family at their restaurant, complete with the BEST tiramisu and a sweet taste of the Buranco Limoncino at the very end. Absolutely recommend! Great ambiance, service, food, and drink! read more

Pistachio crusted tuna steak is high quality and comes with potatoes that are crunchy outside and perfectly seasoned. Spouse had house made pasta with mixed seafood. Not my thing but he really enjoyed it. House salad was so good! Local arugula and carrots, walnuts, prosciutto topped with balsamic reduction that we will try to replicate at home. Panna cotta was light and satiny. Kid friendly and most other customers spoke Italian. read more

First off, this place is very clean and has a cool, modern look to it. If you like prosecco and/ or mojitos, so yourself a favor and get a Hugo spritz - was delicious & refreshing. My husband had the house red wine, which was local from the 5 Terre- he said it was good. I had a dinner special that was gnocchi with tuna and pesto- it was good, especially the homemade gnocchi. My husband had lasagna with meat sauce & it was amazing! They'll give you a postcard at the end of your meal to take with you & you can write a note from home and mail it back to them to post on their wall. Such a fun idea! We wanted to get a spritz and negroni before catching the ferry. This place got good reviews, and our other choices were either closed for the day or opening later. We ordered a spritz, negroni, and an anchovy app. My spritz came out first - it looked pretty watered down and unimpressive. My husbands drink didn't come out for some time, and when we inquired she said she had forgotten. Okay. So the negroni finally comes out and my husband takes a sip, and says- OH GROSS. There were 3 dead flies floating on top of his drink. He looked at the bottom of his drink to find 2 more. ... When we told the waitress she said "oh I'll take them out." .... no thank you. The anchovy app was also not appetizing - we offered it to our neighboring diners, but I guess no one found it appetizing - we left it uneaten. Just... bad. read more

We were looking for lunch at 4 pm in Monterosse and a restaurant that was closed gave us a card that recommended this one. It says it's recommended on tripadvisor, but this is simply a lie, I haven't even found this place on tripadvisor. Only nice point was that the service was friendly. Dishes were very small in portion size, barely warm and tasted average at least and not very fresh. We ate with 5 people and payed 72 euros for drinks and one course, way too expensive. There was loud party music playing, which they did turn down when I asked to do so. This is a restaurant that lives of hungry, uninformed and dissapointed tourists. Don't go there! read more

An outstanding meal at a unique and intimate restaurant. Off the beaten path just a bit, it's worth turning the corner off the Main Street for a great meal. We ordered the octopus salad, bread with pesto, and swordfish apps. The octopus salad was finished almost perfectly with some potatoes and spices and the swordfish was smoked without being overly strong. Dinner included burgers (kids) pesto pasta and lasagna pomodoro (the nights special). The service level matched the meal with each of the servers checking on us frequently. Monterosso is a beautiful town in cinque terre. For our last night, we decided to walk the side streets to find a restaurant. It was 9:30 and we were turned away from one restaurant as the kitchen was closed. We came to Pae Veciu and the waitress was very sweet and told us the specials. We decided to eat here and later realized their kitchen had closed but they still accommodated us. We had the local red wine from Tuscany which was delicious. We also ordered the lasagne bolognese and muscles in a lemon garlic butter sauce served with linguini. Both dishes were delicious but highly recommend the lasagne. Dessert we had the tiramisu which was lemony and pudding like, very good and handmade by the chef. Highly recommend if you are in Monterosso! read more

Although we did not have reservations and had to sit in the rear dining room, this was our best meal and experience in Monterosso. The waitress was very attentive and helped us with our choices. We had the seafood appetizer which was fresh and delicious. The pasta with pesto was excellent. The restaurant is fairly new and owned by a family member of the Buranco winery in Monterosso, which we did not learn until the following day when we enjoyed the most relaxing day of our Chinque Terre vacation at the wine tasting at the Buranco winery. This is a small out of the way gem worth finding. Then visit the winery (advance private reservations required). We are limoncello snobs, and their's rates at the top. Be sure to order the Buranco limoncello ($5 euro) because the one that comes complimentary is not the good stuff. We had both. read more

Most of the nicer restaurants in Monterosso serve the same dishes and the atmosphere is the same...aka tables in narrow alleyways. This is not the case here. The restaurant interior is quite nice and inviting, as for the food, I had the special, lasagna bolognese which was quite good and different from the others I have tried. The staff was nice and inviting which as an American, you will find isn't always the case in Cinque Terra. Not rude, just ignored or the occasional comment where you here them repeatedly say "Americano". I brought my 12 year old daughter and she enjoyed her pasta and liked the atmosphere and the staff. No wifi. Get that at the store called The Net which is in range of this restaurant. This place adds bread to bill so no additional tip required. read more

Yum-a-licious! We were in town for the day and the people at the table out front raved about their meal so we had to stop. A bit hard to find down a side street, but worth the effort. Excellent service, relaxing but modern decor and a menu full of dishes not seen in every other restaurant in Cinque Terre.
