Tip: This store features Kawartha Dairy products, including take-home tubs.
I love that Enniskillen General Store has a few locations. The old location in Bowmanville used to be in the same plaza as the Cineplex. The owners decided to close it down in favour of being in downtown Bowmanville. I finally had a chance to visit it last Saturday.
Street parking is fairly busy on a Saturday. I was at Markets first, so I was parked there. I made a shortcut through the store and made a left to walk over to Enniskillen General Store.
There are a couple of shallow steps to get inside the store. If you need a walker or wheelchair, it will be a challenge to get in and out of this store.
I like that this store carries Kawartha Dairy ice cream and sorbet. I saw The Tragically cHIP flavour on the menu, which is a collaboration between the band and Kawartha Dairy. I'll need to go back and try it. I've heard that it's good.
This store is much smaller than its old store. It doesn't have a public washroom and seating inside. The merchandise is also scaled down.
I was waiting in line for a while. It's a popular store. It was also because one of the female staffers had lost control of making a milkshake. I frankly didn't witness the catastrophe. I saw the aftermath of milk and ice cream all over the counter. Another female staffer came back from her break and cleaned up the mess.
A man behind me had habits that were annoying. Tapping on the table. Whistling when you can't whistle for beans. Ugh!
He was clearly impatient. He asked me if he could go ahead, as he wasn't buying ice cream. Sure! I don't want to be subjected to your nervous tendencies and horrible whistling. Go away!
Finally, a third female staffer came over to help me with my order. I got a baby cup of juicy orange sorbet. Cups range from big baby, baby, and little baby. I essentially got a medium cup, which is the store's most popular size.
This store also had raspberry sorbet. I love it so much. It's my usual sorbet flavour. I had never tried the juice orange sorbet, so I jumped sorbet ships.
I paid at the front. It was not a cheap purchase. It was over $8, but the scoops are generous. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done.
I grabbed a spoon and walked over to my car to enjoy my cold treat on a nice summery day. I had to eat some as I walked because the sorbet was starting to melt.
There were a few chairs and tables outside the store. It was more comfortable having it in my car with music and air conditioning.
The juicy orange sorbet was indeed bursting with orange flavour that made me automatically salivate with every spoonful. It was excellent! The baby size was perfect. I was sad that I had finished it so fast.
It was nice dropping by this location. I have one location left to visit, which is in Peterborough. I wish that I had known about it back in June when I was in the city. I'll need to do another trip.
In the meantime, driving an hour to this location from Markham was worth it. I'll be back again for more yumminess.
