I'm rounding my rating up to four stars because this place is a favorite for my grandparents and remains an excellent value. Every meal starts with basic bread rolls and butter, which I don't personally eat, and each entree includes a small starter salad. On this visit, I ordered the classic snapper broiled and substituted potatoes for the rice. As expected, the portion was quite generous. I actually preferred this broiled preparation over the grilled version I had previously; it seemed to use less oil but was perfectly seasoned. The potatoes were flavorful and well-cooked, and while the sautéed vegetables were fairly basic, they rounded out the plate well. My snapper came with an island sauce on the side, but the fish was flavorful enough on its own that I skipped it to keep the meal a bit healthier. I also sampled my grandpa's order, the Snapper Florentine special. It was very good, featuring a bright lemony sauce and a rich spinach-and-cheese stuffing. While the stuffing meant there was slightly less fish than the standard entree, the portion was still substantial. That being said, I have hesitations regarding the quality of the fish and oils used here. Even though it's a "light" meal, my stomach occasionally feels a little off afterward, so it may not quite meet the highest quality standards. I personally wouldn't return without my grandparents asking me to go, but, it's still a reliable and filling meal. I'll likely try either the roasted half chicken next time or stick with the broiled snapper, which I prefer out of everything I've tried so far. read more

Our first time here meeting friends who raved about this restaurant and we were skeptical driving up in an unassuming area with a unimpressive outdoor appearance. Well, the indoors is warm, inviting and the owners run, cook, serve and are very attentive and most importantly the food is terrific!!! Not a good experience all around. They mixed up the orders, the wait staff couldn't recommend a single Cuban dish, but suggested Italian. I found this odd since it calls itself Cuban. To start the staff is so rude. I don't know if it's a husband and wife but you felt rushed and yelled at. There were 4 of us and we aren't used to being treated poorly especially when it was a night out. And we all felt that way. I had the lechon and it was so dry. So I asked for mojo and was asked why and told that mojo isn't Cuban ... what??? Our Cuban friend who was with us confirmed that it WAS Cuban. Anyway ... portions were small. Vegetables, potatoes and rice were also VERY dry. Drove up to meet friends in Del Ray and they have been here before. It's a Cuban fusion inspired restaurant with many Italian dishes. I went with something out of my Norm and had the garlic steak with garlic bread under, fries and broccoli. Cant comment on the broccoli as not my thing. The fries were ok but I'm not a fan of small stringy fries- I prefer steak size ones. The steak though was out of this world. Perfectly cooked and seasoned and with the chimmchurri on side. I could have eaten 2 of these it was so good. Also comes with a nice little house salad. Also tried the tres leches cake for dessert and oh man it was good with what tasted like homemade whipped cream. Def will come back for another dinner read more

Cuban Food in Palm Beach county ??? Yup. All the usual favorites were on the menu. Dinning room is a bit cramped and no frills. We started off with the worst part of the experience - the Sangria... as a lover of quality drink ingredients this wasn't it. This version lacked the punch of the real 8th Street Miami variety. However, it got better quickly, as the traditional Cuban food starting rolling in... Pallomilla steak, local fish in coconut sauce, etc. All very tasty and in large portions for very fair pricing. Overall, we will be back to try the rest of the Spanish Food when the visitors leave it to the locals. read more

Service was amazing, sangria the best I've had (I'm NYC based) and fish and latte- freshest. The ambiance- intimate but not on top of everyone and the wall is made of sea coral. In a word: Inconsistent. Some of our food was delicious and some of it was simply stale. Even our drinks were inconsistent. I had the sangria with white wine. It was refreshing and tasty. One of our friends ordered a glass of chardonnay, which had become rancid. The server apologized and opened a new bottle. Much better. The salads were good, with a nice mix of ingredients and a pleasant dressing. But the rolls were not fresh. We ordered more and they weren't much better. Although the new ones were warmed, they tasted as though they were old rolls heated up in a microwave. The entrees were all excellent. The coconut grouper and the Havana snapper were flavorful and prepared well. However, each came with a side of rice that was bland and chewy, as though it was sitting around for a while after being overcooked. Similarly, the side of veggies was not properly cooked, and the side of black beans was drowning in liquid. The plantains were nicely prepared. The chicken parmesan and the chicken alfredo were both very good. The alfredo sauce wasn't too heavy, and the portion sizes were generous. The chicken was tender. The service was generally good albeit not impressively so. The server seemed a bit over-worked and was quickly running from table to table. The restaurant has a rustic feel with stone walls and lots of wood. Although there is plenty of covered seating outdoors, it is not used much in the summer, so total seating is limited. As a result, reservations are encouraged. Reservations must be made by phone because there is no online reservation system available. I made a reservation several weeks in advance, and I'm glad that I called the day we were going for dinner to confirm it. The restaurant had "lost" my reservation, but they were able to squeeze us in at an earlier time. Would we go back again? Probably. Primarily because the entrees are good, but we'll have lower overall expectations. read more

This is a mixed rating review: food is 4-stars, service is 2-stars. Friends raved about Enigma, which is sort of a Cuban-Italian fusion restaurant. Judging by the crowd at dinner (reservations are a must on the weekend during "season"!), my first impression was positive. We sat outside with a table along busy Federal Hwy. The billowing curtains mostly blocked the view of the cars going by but not the sound. The tables were crammed together and the seating on the plastic chairs became uncomfortable after awhile. Enigma's featured drink is their delicious sangria, which is available with either red or white wine. It conveniently comes in 3 sizes: glass, carafe, or pitcher. Bottoms up! We waited a bit for the server to come by to take our order. We then waited over an hour for the food to arrive. We even asked the manager about the delay - after asking several staff members to have the manager stop by - and he gave the standard "kitchen is backed up" response. In the interim, the server never stopped by the table to update us on the delay or refresh our water glasses. (The sangria was long gone by then.) The good news is that when the food did finally arrive, it was general quite good. The side salads were a nice mix of greens with slices of tomato and cucumber with a vinegarette on the side. The menu did not mention that the entrees came with salad, so we were pleasantly surprised to see them. The accompanying small rolls were not very fresh. They were probably microwaved because after sitting on the table for awhile (did I mention we were waiting for our dinners for a loooong time?) they became very hard and inedible. My wife had the chicken parmesan with a side of linguini. She said it was the most tender chicken she can recall ever having. And it was a sizeable portion with two pieces of chicken. Unfortunately, when she asked for some parmesan cheese, it came in a shaker bottle right from the refrigerator. Who wants cold cheese on their hot entree? One friend had the macadamia crusted grouper with veggies and rice. It was excellent. She requested some extra banana liqueur sauce because it was so delicious, but the server said the sauce was only used for cooking and wasn't available to be served on the side. Darn! Another friend thoroughly enjoyed the Havana snapper, which was covered with peppers, onions, tomatoes and a "Cuban-style" sauce. It was accompanied by rice and black beans and fried plantains. T'was the best meal of the night at our table. I learned a difficult lesson: don't order Italian food in a primarily Cuban restaurant. I had the chicken marsala. It was unexpectedly spicy and the chicken was tough, which was also unexpected since my wife's chicken parm was so tender. After we finished eating, the manager apologized for the excessive delay by providing us with a piece of chocolate cake. While this was a nice gesture and we appreciated it, sadly the cake was as cold as the parm cheese, as it too came right out of the refrigerator. It was generally tasty though. Overall, I see why this is a popular place, especially for the Sangrias and Cuban-themed entrees. But best to avoid the busy times if you want decent service. read more

Be absolutely sure to check your credit card receipt very carefully. They added in a $125 tip on a $90 bill and claimed that I had typed it in that way on their hand held computer! No way did that happen. And they give you nothing to sign, so if you are careless and don't check the receipt you will never know what amount they are actually charging to your credit card. Then they claimed they couldn't void out the overcharge to simply start over. Next they offered $25 in cash to try to settle the mistake. When that didn't fly, In the end it became $110 cash, but there was no apology. The food isn't bad, but Just avoid this place. It's not worth the aggravation. read more

Well, we can't wait to go back. The is a Cuban restaurant run by a lovely couple who are always present. They serve beer and wine. There is a wide variety of menu items and a lot of fish which I love. Our friends highly recommended the coconut grouper. It was a large portion perfectly cooked. It came with rice, veggies a house salad with home made italian dressing. Btw, we ordered a pitcher of red sangria which was out of this world. My husband had the garlic steak which he loved. The side could be plantains if you like them. They were delicious. Seating can be inside or outside in the courtyard. There is a private parking lot. Large menu with very reasonable prices. Husband and wife team, Nas, the chef and Adita, runs the front and makes great flan. All entrees come with Cuban bread and a house salad. Started with one of my favorites, Nas"s Bahamian conch chowder, always good. My wife ordered Stuffed Snapper, Crab meat stuffing broiled. Served with rice and vegetables. Really good. Brazilian and Cuban cuisine, sounds like something I don't make at home. There was a large lush patio in front and lots of parking all around the restaurant. Located on Federal Highway between Delray and Boynton. A very extensive menu with lots of fish, seafood, poultry and meat. They did not serve cocktails but had red and white sangria, a wine list and some beer. All of the entrées were under $30 and included a garden salad and bread basket. Service was on point, our meals came out very quickly, we were checked on a few times, and did not feel rushed. I ordered seafood paella which arrived in a large pot filled with lots of shrimp, mussels, clams and half a lobster tail. It was very large, juicy, tasty and flavorful. My husband enjoyed his dinner as well that came with plantains, rice and beans and broccoli. We brought home enough for another meal. Very nice evening, we will be back! read more

Always delicious! We actually went here last minute on New Year's Eve had to come in early because they were so booked up. They were able to accommodate us at like 530 and given the late planning on my part we were good with that. The restaurant goes along with healthy eating in my opinion. There are many fish Dishes available and with wonderful flavor. They usually have snapper and grouper as a choice. There are also Italian dishes available. My husband had veal piccata and enjoyed it immensely. Everyone at the table did enjoy their dish. The prices are very reasonable and the service. Very good. There is inside seating as well as outside. This is not a fancy place, but it is very reasonable good wonderful tasting food. I called ahead and first they said no room but then they said come on and just remind us that we were the three that just called. So we went and we sat outside. It was a beautiful night. We ordered paella and the skirt steak. Food was absolutely delicious and I will definitely go back. Cuban food! it was delicious. The prices are reasonable as well. The waiter was very nice and accommodating. They also did bring out the bread to snack on. ( because it was so chilly out the rolls got hard quickly). A must have reservation for outside seating on a Saturday evening. The parking lot is small but we found a space in the back. There were people with a reservation waiting past time to get their outside table so we opted, with our reservation, to eat inside where it was not crowded at all. The service was great and although we were warned that the service would be slower than usual, we were dining with good friends and wanted not to be rushed. Dinner took about 2 hours and we enjoyed the evening. We started with the Beef Croquettes which are 2 large chopped steak inside a mashed potato shell fried and sliced into halves with a cream sauce on the side. We would definitely recommend them and they are good for sharing. Our entrees came with a small side salad that was simple but fresh. I ordered the Seafood in a savory sauce from the Specials menu and the portion and variety of seafood was great including the small half of a lobster tail all in their shells was fresh and very reasonably priced. I even used a spoon to finish the broth because it was so good. It came with rice but I opted to have sautéed veggies instead and they were well seasoned and fresh. My husband had the Paella and it came in a steel pot and was piping hot. Loaded with fresh seafood in their shells. The rice was well seasoned and he scraped the bowl clean. Our friends were not as thrilled with their entrees and did not finish their meals. The Chicken Alfredo seemed to have a lot of tendons pieces that were not edible and there was very little sauce on the penne pasta. It even looked very dry. I was a little perplexed why they would have Italian entrees on the menu when they are clearly a Cuban restaurant. I really think their menu is too large and they could do without the Italian food. We ordered a bottle of house wine that was priced well and although they were out of their Marequitas from the appetizer menu, I would return for my entree again. read more
