Empanadas house made packed to capacity with savory fillings, I immensely enjoyed the chicken seasoned to perfection, light delicate dough excellent!! But BABY.... The OXTAIL EMPANADA is pure heaven, I LOVED IT, I will drive WEEKLY to get them! The Broiled Snapper was beautiful, not over cooked and juicy and presented superbly!!! Mofongo was the best I ever had! I want to work my way through the entire menu. The Service was PERFECT, genuinely welcoming and helpful with suggestions and the crew there worked together like a well oiled machine!

The flavors were rich, comforting, and straight-up authentic. You can taste the love in that food. And let's talk portions... they are NOT playing with you. I had enough leftovers to run it back for dinner later, and it still tasted just as good! The service? Super attentive and welcoming--exactly what you want when you're trying to sit, relax, and enjoy a good meal. And the decor is such a vibe--cute, cozy, and full of personality. Even the restroom had a unique touch... a big pot turned into a sink! Like... come on, that's creative Will I be back? Oh absolutely. Probably next month though, because it's about an hour drive for me--but listen... it's worth it. If you're ever in the area and craving real, authentic Dominican food... don't even think twice. Just go.

The plates were visibly…read moredamaged, with melted burned plastic visible, and no wrapper in between the food and the plate. The cheese on the pupusas was visibly not melted, despite dining in. The slaw also looked less than appealing- it seemed like a different combo than I am used to here- but also just looked old. On the upside, my son loved trying his first pupusa (without slaw). Service was wonderful, and I love supporting local businesses. I can see from my previous photos that the plates were ceramic. Maybe it was an off night?

After reading an updated review from Sr. CM West Palm, Melodie M, we just had to come here for…read morelunch to try their pupusas while in the area. In fact, I'd never had a pupusa when some time back I read another review from Melodie and decided to try them. We found a Pompano Beach restaurant near our other residence that we frequent with Salvadorean food and have now visited often. When we came in, I guess they could tell we were "gringos", so they switched servers to one with better English. But we usually can get by with our school Spanish okay. Most people dining here were Spanish speaking, but you should be comfortable if you don't know the language. My husband decided to have a pupusa with beef and cheese along with a salad. The salad came out first. It was a plate of lettuce with tomatoes and cucumbers and some ranch dressing. His pupusa came with coleslaw. And they put a container of thin red sauce on the table for us to share. He said he thought the pupusa was good. He also got a passion fruit drink, medium size, to have with his meal. I had to try the "squash flower" one (per Melodie's review) so I ordered the loroco pupusa. I looked this up to see what these flower buds looked like. As mentioned online, this unique green vegetable was a bit crunchy and reminded me of a broccoli stalk or asparagus spear. But it is unique to El Salvador and used in Salvadorean cooking in many different ways. There was more cheese than loroco in the pupusa. It was fine. I'm glad I tried it. But I also ordered a "mixed" pupusa (revueltas) of pork, beans, and cheese and this one was the better tasting of the two, I thought. Of course, I put the slaw on top of the pupusa and sauce on top of that (as I'd learned from Melodie) and that really makes the whole experience in one delicious bite. I didn't realize how large the pupusas would be, so I'd also ordered a coctail de camarones. Not to be confused with an American shrimp cocktail, I'd had these when they've been made like shrimp ceviche or like the one I had here. The cooked shrimp was mixed in a remoulade dressing (mayo based) and topped with pico de gallo and avocado pieces. It was very good. It was served in a sundae glass. And came with a package of crackers, as well. Now that we've come here to try their pupusas, I'd also like to try one of their signature soups and other meal specials. Prices are quite reasonable. Please note: This isn't fast food as everything is cooked to order, so just be prepared if you're really hungry for a short wait.

However, I know from traveling that some of the best spots are ones that appear to be a hole in the wall. I walked in, very cute inside! Staff was welcoming and I cozied right up at the bar to wait for my friend. I was immediately brought chips and salsa and a cold beer. We ended up sitting at a high top and our waitress suggested that I try either carne asada from the Mexican menu or Vaca Frita from the Cuban menu. I love me some carne asada but I was intrigued but this 'fried shredded beef' that was marinated in mole and cooked in a hot skillet until crispy. She suggested sweet plantains to go with it and white rice with beans which is traditional Cuban (instead of yellow rice). IT WAS FABULOUS! It was crispy on the outside and juicy. The mole was flavorful but not spicy and i appreciated that the meat was not dripping in sauce. My dinner date ordered chicken tamales which were seasoned in a Cuban style with yellow rice. She is used to Mexican tamales but said these really hit the spot! The only blemish on the nice was her second margarita which was the cucumber one which she didn't like at all. However, the first one she ordered (pictured) which was a different flavor was a show stopper.

The restaurant is located in a small strip shopping center just north of the Greenwood Shopping Center on Congress Ave. in Palm Springs. We arrived at a good time as the inside is rather small. By the time we left, almost every table was full. Many people picked up take out orders throughout our meal. La Cosinita is a very busy restaurant! This was our first time trying Puerto Rican food. My husband ordered Mofongo stuffed with chicken and peppers and was very pleased with his choice. The portion size was quite generous. I ordered the Chicken de Plancha. My chicken was grilled to perfection and accompanied by plantains and black beans and rice. I enjoyed every bite. Our server checked on us several times during our meal. She was also very patient when we ordered as we weren't familiar with some of the menu items. The prices and portion sizes of our meals were a good value. I was the only one here, so the food was fast, fresh and prompt. I got a chicken and a steak taco and a Gatorade (it's got electrolytes). I ended up absolutely destroying my meal and it was as authentic as you can get. None of that cheap Taco Bell stuff here, this is the real deal. Delicious!!! They also have a some little shelves in the back with some misc. stuff for sale. My only complaint would be he atmosphere. Not really the place to take a date, but definitely the place to get food to go. Maybe pick up some authentic Mexican food from here to go and head to the beach Overall, come here if you want 5 star food at a inexpensive price, just don't be expecting a a 5 star atmosphere.

A bit off the Lake Avenue main drag, it's worth coming over here. Lupitas up the way may be long on restaurant polish, but their food is tired and fast foody. By contrast Del Sur will give you a foot long burrito that's totally legit and made with love. Plenty of parking on the side and rear of the restaurant. Grab the horchata and try the flan for dessert. A great off the beaten path to try out!
