I was in the area and wanted to try something different. Glad I came in here! I've tried a few Venezuelan spots in south Florida that are overpriced and/or the food doesn't taste great, this was the complete opposite. The place is on the smaller side but there's plenty of tables if you want to dine in. Service was super friendly, Adriana did a great job with recommendations and was very sweet. The food came out completely fresh and quickly. I ordered Arepa La chama - shredded beef, cheese and avocado. Wow the beef was so juicy and flavorful. The arepa was cooked perfectly, almost as good as my grandmothers. The protein amount was generous. I also added two fried eggs which were also cooked great. 5/5 ($10.95 + $2 for fried eggs) Awesome spot with authentic Venezuelan food. It's a shame I don't live close because I'd be in here all of the time. I definitely want to bring my family to try and if you want real Venezuelan food I recommend coming here! read more

We came for lunch on a Sunday. We were greeted in Spanish. We seated ourselves at a table and a server brought by menus. Luckily, we do speak some Spanish as the staff was very limited in English. Neither of us was very hungry so having looked at the menu in advance, we thought we'd get some soup or something small. Turned out that on Sundays, they don't have their regular chicken soup available. However, they do have a Sunday special of Hen Soup (gallina), so that's what I ordered. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich. The soup came in a large bowl. There was ample chicken with various vegetables in it -- some of which I didn't know what they were. I could identify the cabbage and I think a lot of large chunks of either yucca or some sort of potato. The broth was good -- made better when I added some lime juice to it. In addition to the soup, alongside was served a very plain and bland arepa and a hunk of fresh avocado. They also had a small cup of vinegary chopped onions and peppers on the plate. My husband's sandwich turned out to be more like a chicken salad sandwich with a mix of chicken, mayo, and avocado mashed together. He said it was okay. To go, he got a small container of their passion fruit mousse dessert. He ate that later at home. He said that was very good. We were here once many, many years ago. Since then, we've passed by many times and said we needed to return. If we come back, I'd like to try some of their other arepas. read more

¡Sí, sí, sí! While we were driving around checking out some barber shops in the plaza, two Hispanic restaurants caught my eye! We went in to get a snack & ended up taking a mini-lunch to go! I chose the La llanera arepa and Sal decided to get the La Vemex arepa! We also got two drinks: jugo de guanábana (guava juice) and lemonade. I really enjoyed my arepa, it was super delicious! It was nice and hot, just how food like that should be! The sauces that came with it were good, the green ones which seemed like a salsa verde and the other being something of an avocado crema background. The white one I believe was cilantro garlic, which I preferred! The juices were good, he loved the lemonade and the guava juice was tasty! The guava juice had pulp which was to my liking, I'm a pulp kind of gal! Only con is that it was a bit pricey, those 4 items cost me over $20 not including tip. However, I would still come back because the food was fresh and homemade (OUT HERE SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES :-)) along with good service, the ladies were sweet! I had lunch here a couple of weeks ago with a friend. The lunch menu is very reasonable and delicious. I had the chicken and mushrooms with black beans and fried plantains. She had the steak with fried plantains and yuca. Both of us received a bowl of rich chicken soup. The meal came with little cups of garlic sauce, avocado sauce, and chili sauce. The service was stupendous. The bill came to about $26. The only thing I found odd was the meal came on disposable service ware. It didn't change the pleasure of the meal. Primo Venezuelan fare!!!! Family owned and very very nice vibes here. Emily, my server, is native Venezuelan who speaks excellent English. Off course, I got to practice my order in Español. Not only Latinos frequent this place. So come in and enjoy the ambiance of South America. I asked Emily that I wanted something special and different. She then recommended the Plato Navideño ( a Xmas special ). I had no clue what it consisted of, but ordered it anyway. It had Pernil, ham, chicken , raisins, peas, potatoes. It was super tasty. $13.95. I had Blackberry juice to drink. Since they noticed that I was enjoying my meal, they came over with a cream drink and a bit of sweet fruit, gratis. That was a nice touch. I went today for lunch and wow. The arepas were amazing!! We ordered some Tajadas con queso and Yuca fries as appetizers and they were delicious. I ordered La Sifrina, which had a chicken, avocado, and mayo salad and cheese inside. It was the best arepa I've had in while, and it was the perfect size. Our severe was also super nice and friendly, and the store was small and cozy. Definitely will go back to try their other options. :) read more

The problem with Doña Arepa is that the menu is simply too big: you want to try everything and there just isn't enough room on the table for the plates. The arepas have a light, non-greasy taste and are also non-filling (so you can eat more of them.). I tried La Pelua ("The Hairy One"), which had perfectly cooked and spiced shredded beef. The maduros were cooked to perfection--also non-greasy--and when topped with the shredded white cheese, were simply perfection. I need to make this place a regular hangout. read more

The rating has to be lowered to one star because of the service plain and simple. i have never been treated so rudely. The owner has no manners and was extremely rude when i brought my family of 7. They were overcooked burned and i dont think they had the correct cheese although they were still good they didnt have the signature taste of a Venezuelan tequeno. I'm learning Spanish, but El Mejor (The Best) isn't hard here. Easily the best Venezuelan food in Southeast Florida, and a very respectable second to Q'Kenan in Orlando. Best arepa I've had locally. The fried pork, the fresh cheese and a little ripe, but crisp avocado were perfect in the very light arepa. The fried pork chunks gave big flavor and textural contrast. E.g.: Deliciousness on steroids! Anyone complaining about these amazing arepas over those grilled rocks of yellow corn and cheap queso that they serve at stands in Miami needs to have their heads examined. My mixed salad was awesome, nice and fresh. I had outrageously good coconut flan and espresso to finish. Service is gracious and quick. Lots of native speakers here, but everyone is welcome. Super clean and a happy place full of folks who love the food! Prices rock too! If you live near Greenacres, you probably know. If you're from elsewhere MAKE YOUR WAY OVER HERE. I just spent $21 on a sandwich and a soda had to ask for a cup of ice. The girls were very pleasant. Somewhat of a language barrier with English will not go back. My husband had the shredded beef lunch special that came with soup, rice, beans and plantains. We also shared a chorizo appetizer. I had an arepa with chicken and avocado - think chicken salad. The arepa was crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. The chorizo was good but a little over cooked. The lunch special was good value. Delicious & Affordable. We called ahead and it was ready in 5 minutes! Definitely get the coconut flan if it is available.

I love Venezuelan food and my hairdresser recommended this place, so I waited for the weekend to go. It's located in a small shopping center, and there is outside seating. I explained to the person taking my order that it was our first time, so I asked her for recommendations. She gave us a few, I ordered the sample platter as she recommended and my husband had an arepa. I had a tamarindo drink that tasted horrible. The food was good, great flavors, good price, I just didn't like the service. My two toddlers were running around while we were placing our order, and I apologized to the lady. There was only one other customer inside the restaurant. We completed our order and went outside. It was very windy so the only table that would be kind of protected from the wind was not clean, I went back inside the restaurant to kindly ask the lady if they could clean the table for us, and to my surprise, she was talking about MY kids to the other customer. I acted as if I didn't hear it, and asked her if she could please clean our table and she responded, "you'll have to use the another one". I just didn't care to explain why we didn't want to seat in the other ones. I noticed that she tried to make up for being caught speaking about my kids, but it was too late. Three little old ladies running the show, they are as sweet as loud calling people to get their orders which explains why they can't hear when you are the one placing the food order. I loved it though, it reminded me of my place of birth. They offer all the Venezuelan food under the sun. So as a non-Hispanic person sometimes going into a very authentic restaurant is intimidating. Everyone speaks Spanish and you feel out of place. I have been here twice and have had exceptional service. I just feel like the employees are so caring and so sweet and I never felt judged at all.
