I was in the area and wanted to try something different. Glad I came in here! I've tried a few Venezuelan spots in south Florida that are overpriced and/or the food doesn't taste great, this was the complete opposite. The place is on the smaller side but there's plenty of tables if you want to dine in. Service was super friendly, Adriana did a great job with recommendations and was very sweet. The food came out completely fresh and quickly. I ordered Arepa La chama - shredded beef, cheese and avocado. Wow the beef was so juicy and flavorful. The arepa was cooked perfectly, almost as good as my grandmothers. The protein amount was generous. I also added two fried eggs which were also cooked great. 5/5 ($10.95 + $2 for fried eggs) Awesome spot with authentic Venezuelan food. It's a shame I don't live close because I'd be in here all of the time. I definitely want to bring my family to try and if you want real Venezuelan food I recommend coming here! read more

Doña Arepa - La chama arepa - delicious - Venezuelan Near Me - Greenacres, Florida

We came for lunch on a Sunday. We were greeted in Spanish. We seated ourselves at a table and a server brought by menus. Luckily, we do speak some Spanish as the staff was very limited in English. Neither of us was very hungry so having looked at the menu in advance, we thought we'd get some soup or something small. Turned out that on Sundays, they don't have their regular chicken soup available. However, they do have a Sunday special of Hen Soup (gallina), so that's what I ordered. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich. The soup came in a large bowl. There was ample chicken with various vegetables in it -- some of which I didn't know what they were. I could identify the cabbage and I think a lot of large chunks of either yucca or some sort of potato. The broth was good -- made better when I added some lime juice to it. In addition to the soup, alongside was served a very plain and bland arepa and a hunk of fresh avocado. They also had a small cup of vinegary chopped onions and peppers on the plate. My husband's sandwich turned out to be more like a chicken salad sandwich with a mix of chicken, mayo, and avocado mashed together. He said it was okay. To go, he got a small container of their passion fruit mousse dessert. He ate that later at home. He said that was very good. We were here once many, many years ago. Since then, we've passed by many times and said we needed to return. If we come back, I'd like to try some of their other arepas. read more

The food was authentic and made to order. Just what you'd expect from a Venezuelan restaurant. Their attention and enthusiasm when you arrive at the door was very warm and welcoming. We even took some "pan de jamón" home for the holidays. read more

This place was amazing! Their fried cheese portion under appetizers was excellent. It tasted like the famous cheese we would typically get in Costa Rica. Then we also ordered the Doña Arepa Mix and everything was excellent. The chachapitas were my favorite. They were the perfect amount of corn pancake with cheese on top. Highly recommend! read more

I visited this restaurant several years ago and the service/food was terrible. I decided to give them another chance. I don't know if it's under new management or they hired new staff but the service and food was really good. I was greeted when I walked in and the lady took my order right away. The food was delicious! Happy they improved. I will visit again. read more

Food was great, nice location, however it is too expensive for what it is! They need more English speaking employees!

Authentic and absolutely wonderful. While everyone next door was waiting for over an hour at a "hen" place, we were seated in seconds, had an absolutely wonderful meal and the price and service was beyond comparable. The food is an Anthony Bourdain described gem. read more

Nice little spot. I love these fried plantains, thinly fried. The food is tasty. Coffee is always perfect; nice and strong. Due to covid they started using paper products (not a big fan but I do understand). You order and pay at the window and sit in if you choose to. They did some remodeling but less inside seating. The ladies who work there are very nice and they are always asking and making sure that you're happy with everything. read more

¡Sí, sí, sí! While we were driving around checking out some barber shops in the plaza, two Hispanic restaurants caught my eye! We went in to get a snack & ended up taking a mini-lunch to go! I chose the La llanera arepa and Sal decided to get the La Vemex arepa! We also got two drinks: jugo de guanábana (guava juice) and lemonade. I really enjoyed my arepa, it was super delicious! It was nice and hot, just how food like that should be! The sauces that came with it were good, the green ones which seemed like a salsa verde and the other being something of an avocado crema background. The white one I believe was cilantro garlic, which I preferred! The juices were good, he loved the lemonade and the guava juice was tasty! The guava juice had pulp which was to my liking, I'm a pulp kind of gal! Only con is that it was a bit pricey, those 4 items cost me over $20 not including tip. However, I would still come back because the food was fresh and homemade (OUT HERE SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES :-)) along with good service, the ladies were sweet! Overall, I recommend it and would definitely go back! TIP: They have lunch specials! :-) read more

Nice small Latin themed menu. Arepas are corn cakes of different thicknesses and grilling. I liked my experience.

My husband and I really liked this place. The arepa sandwich was very tasty and satisfying. Menu has a lot of options. The restaurant is small but has a little market inside with Venezuelan treats. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in a casual Latin meal. read more

I had lunch here a couple of weeks ago with a friend. The lunch menu is very reasonable and delicious. I had the chicken and mushrooms with black beans and fried plantains. She had the steak with fried plantains and yuca. Both of us received a bowl of rich chicken soup. The meal came with little cups of garlic sauce, avocado sauce, and chili sauce. The service was stupendous. The bill came to about $26. The only thing I found odd was the meal came on disposable service ware. It didn't change the pleasure of the meal. It actually made taking home leftovers very convenient. Highly recommend! Do I have never been, they seem very popular for breakfast for their arepas! read more

Delicious arepas and helpful servers. I got the pork and cheese arepa excellent and it came with good sauces. Also got a Soursop juice very good, too. read more

Great food! That's all that is needed to say. Can't think of anything else. I came for the food and the food was good. LOL

Great food! We did have translation issues with the staff. But who cares with great food! Wonderful place .

Primo Venezuelan fare!!!! Family owned and very very nice vibes here. Emily, my server, is native Venezuelan who speaks excellent English. Off course, I got to practice my order in Español. Not only Latinos frequent this place. So come in and enjoy the ambiance of South America. I asked Emily that I wanted something special and different. She then recommended the Plato Navideño ( a Xmas special ). I had no clue what it consisted of, but ordered it anyway. It had Pernil, ham, chicken , raisins, peas, potatoes. It was super tasty. $13.95. I had Blackberry juice to drink. Since they noticed that I was enjoying my meal, they came over with a cream drink and a bit of sweet fruit, gratis. That was a nice touch. I'll be back. Ample parking, very neat interior. read more

I went today for lunch and wow. The arepas were amazing!! We ordered some Tajadas con queso and Yuca fries as appetizers and they were delicious. I ordered La Sifrina, which had a chicken, avocado, and mayo salad and cheese inside. It was the best arepa I've had in while, and it was the perfect size. Our severe was also super nice and friendly, and the store was small and cozy. Definitely will go back to try their other options. :) read more

Doña Arepa - La Sifrina- chicken, avocado, and mayo salad with cheese - Venezuelan Near Me - Greenacres, Florida

The problem with Doña Arepa is that the menu is simply too big: you want to try everything and there just isn't enough room on the table for the plates. The arepas have a light, non-greasy taste and are also non-filling (so you can eat more of them.). I tried La Pelua ("The Hairy One"), which had perfectly cooked and spiced shredded beef. The maduros were cooked to perfection--also non-greasy--and when topped with the shredded white cheese, were simply perfection. I need to make this place a regular hangout. read more

The rating has to be lowered to one star because of the service plain and simple. i have never been treated so rudely. The owner has no manners and was extremely rude when i brought my family of 7. Never again will i give my hard earned money to to these people there are farrrrr better options to deal with such unpleasant treatment. After she was extremely rude and my entire family was uncomfortable she then had the nerve to say i was indecent for not saying please when i asked for a cup of ice. Stay away. Pretty much everything lacks salt and is on the bland side but the flavors are there just needs salt lol Reina pepida arepa was perfect and only $5.95 but its veryyy light on the chicken Tequenos 5 for $3.95 Toddy containers $9 They had all the favorites, cocosettes, susy, samba, cri cri, postobon frescolita etc Menu prices are reasonable, service was great, food was fresh, and came out within 5 minutes of ordering They lost a star simply because the tequenos were a miss and that is a staple. They were overcooked burned and i dont think they had the correct cheese although they were still good they didnt have the signature taste of a Venezuelan tequeno. Would definitely return to try the patacon! Edit: tried the patacon it was very good but like everything else lacked salt. Cachapa was delicious too just too bland read more

I'm learning Spanish, but El Mejor (The Best) isn't hard here. Easily the best Venezuelan food in Southeast Florida, and a very respectable second to Q'Kenan in Orlando. Best arepa I've had locally. The fried pork, the fresh cheese and a little ripe, but crisp avocado were perfect in the very light arepa. The fried pork chunks gave big flavor and textural contrast. E.g.: Deliciousness on steroids! Anyone complaining about these amazing arepas over those grilled rocks of yellow corn and cheap queso that they serve at stands in Miami needs to have their heads examined. My mixed salad was awesome, nice and fresh. I had outrageously good coconut flan and espresso to finish. Service is gracious and quick. Lots of native speakers here, but everyone is welcome. Super clean and a happy place full of folks who love the food! Prices rock too! If you live near Greenacres, you probably know. If you're from elsewhere MAKE YOUR WAY OVER HERE. This is a cool hidden gem! Right up there with Tacos al Carbon as one of the Acres gem eateries. read more

On a take out I was charged $114 for six Yuca's and one pan. That is almost double of what it should've costed. I will never return back to this place. There are plenty of other places. Very disappointing. read more

We visited for a late lunch after reading an article about Venezuelan food in the Palm Beach Post. They recommended this restraint. My husband had the shredded beef lunch special that came with soup, rice, beans and plantains. We also shared a chorizo appetizer. I had an arepa with chicken and avocado - think chicken salad. The arepa was crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. The chorizo was good but a little over cooked. The lunch special was good value. The soup was a fish soup which we love but it was too fishy for our taste. Servers were friendly and the food is very reasonably priced. read more

Delicious & Affordable. We called ahead and it was ready in 5 minutes! Definitely get the coconut flan if it is available.

Our favorite Venezuelan spot! Their empanadas are our favorite. There is usually never a wait. And they are fairly quick.

I just spent $21 on a sandwich and a soda had to ask for a cup of ice. The girls were very pleasant. Somewhat of a language barrier with English will not go back. The sandwich consist of pulled dried chicken. They were supposed to be a tomato that was missing and the meat was dry. I had to use a lot of their seasonal sauce. read more

Amazing! The texture, the flavor, the sauces, the spice! My favorite place to order from - will ALWAYS recommend

I love Venezuelan food and my hairdresser recommended this place, so I waited for the weekend to go. It's located in a small shopping center, and there is outside seating. I explained to the person taking my order that it was our first time, so I asked her for recommendations. She gave us a few, I ordered the sample platter as she recommended and my husband had an arepa. I had a tamarindo drink that tasted horrible. The food was good, great flavors, good price, I just didn't like the service. My two toddlers were running around while we were placing our order, and I apologized to the lady. There was only one other customer inside the restaurant. We completed our order and went outside. It was very windy so the only table that would be kind of protected from the wind was not clean, I went back inside the restaurant to kindly ask the lady if they could clean the table for us, and to my surprise, she was talking about MY kids to the other customer. I acted as if I didn't hear it, and asked her if she could please clean our table and she responded, "you'll have to use the another one". I just didn't care to explain why we didn't want to seat in the other ones. I noticed that she tried to make up for being caught speaking about my kids, but it was too late. When we left, my husband said, I'm not coming back to this place. I'd give them a second try. read more

Doña Arepa - The sample platter, a salad and an arepa with shredded beef. The best part were the tiny empanadas. - Venezuelan Near Me - Greenacres, Florida

Three little old ladies running the show, they are as sweet as loud calling people to get their orders which explains why they can't hear when you are the one placing the food order. I loved it though, it reminded me of my place of birth. They offer all the Venezuelan food under the sun. I ate cachapas con queso Guayanés, one empanada margariteña and shared an order de tequeños along with a nice café con leche. The food was great, well prepared and presentable. I highly recommend this place, great food T great prices. read more

So as a non-Hispanic person sometimes going into a very authentic restaurant is intimidating. Everyone speaks Spanish and you feel out of place. I have been here twice and have had exceptional service. I just feel like the employees are so caring and so sweet and I never felt judged at all. I felt like even the patrons that eat here are so kind. Their food is delicious the coffee is amazing and I would highly suggest for anyone to dine here. read more

This little gem is proof that you don't have to drive all the way to Miami for good Venezuelan food. I never thought I would be taking my mom out to eat arepas in Greenacres after introducing her to these griddled corn cakes with various fillings at a favorite restaurant in Las Vegas. I was impressed by the extensive menu offered at Doña Arepa, full of plates and items I'd never come across before. I'm a vegetarian so I didn't try the cazón, a small shark species, but it is an option for the adventurous eater. This was my first visit to Doña Arepa, so I ordered my standard Venezuelan favorites: tequeños, arepas, and cachapas. Cheese is the common ingredient in these three items, and Doña Arepa knows her queso. I was able to try queso Guayanés and queso de mano and found both to be very delicious and unique Venezuelan varieties of queso fresco. I will definitely be back to try some of the other offerings after this memorable initial tasting. The food is very affordable and lunch specials are available. You can also find cerveza Polar and a fun assortment of chocolates and candies from Venezuela at this 100% Venezolano establishment. read more

What a pleasant surprise! We walked in from our morning walk and decided to grab a bite. Very casual, reminds me of the cafeteria type restaurants in Miami. The arepas were awesome! We had a cheese one and a chicken, avocado and cheese. My hubby was drooling over the hot sauce served with it. We will definitely be back and already sent a recommendation to a Venezuelan friend. read more

¿Verdad, Scannone? read more
