This place is one of Kentucky's most beloved little local diners. This place has been serving simple, old-school comfort food for generations. You can walk inside to a small counter with just a handful of tables, where everything feels warm, familiar, and unchanged. The regulars swear by the juicy double cheeseburgers, big footlong chili dogs, and some of the best coleslaw you'll find anywhere. They have a good line of milkshakes either, especially the butterscotch shake. The place fills up fast, and most of the customers there we saw did not even need a menu because they already know what they want. That is not the case for us, as we were just paying thru the area. But this is the kind of diner where the food tastes the same as it did years ago, time seems to slow down, and you're treated like family the second you show up. We both went with the Double Cheese burger with all the topping expect the chili one. The onions on these burgers were an outstanding. I could have ate a whole cup of them by their self. My wife had a large onion rings for her side, while I opted for the large curl fries. My wife noted that the onion ring were breaded correctly and the onion did not slide out of the breading when you bite in to them, the curly fries were also firm and just the right amount of crispness. The service is attentive and makes you feel like you are a regular, and expressed a fine example of true southern hospitality. This place is good choice for a solid quick and traditional meal with a very laid back environment that is very welcoming. We really love Engle's Drive In and always make it must-stop when in Pineville visiting Dad up on the hill! With COVID you cannot eat inside, but real easy to pull up in front and they come out to take your order. About a 10 minute wait (4 other cars waiting with us) and you are treated to an affordable lunch or dinner - remember cash only. Both wifey and I had cheeseburgers - mine a double. They had all the fixings and were a good quality beef. The 2 patties was more than enough for me - probably only for the real hungry crowd. We added Curley fries and onion rings - both arrived very hot and not super greasy like some diners. I finished mine off with a small vanilla shake which tasted really "vanillayee " and was a perfect finish to a really great meal. I highly recommend Engle's!! read more

We have driven past it many times and finally decided to stop in, glad we did! The feel is small town diner, the food is tasty and the girls working are friendly and welcoming. Always have wonderful food and wonderful service. My family has known the owner for a long time and it is our go to place to eat. Sometimes they aren't as fast at service as I would like. However, it is one of the only drive in eateries left in my small town. They may not have fast service but they have excellent food and I would much rather have that then fast service. read more

This place is right off 25E right before the city of Pineville. It's like stepping back in time to a small diner. The place only has about 10 tables. Me and my family got the last table there was. It's also a drive-in though. So you can pull up and wait and they'll come and take your order from your car as well. Me and my husband had foot longs and they were pretty good. Nothing out of this world. Their onion rings were good and they had the basic crinkle cut French fries. Service was good. Sweet tea was good. We also grabbed some milkshakes on our way out. I had the butterscotch milkshake and it was delicious. Their larges are like a small at fast food chains, so keep that in mind. Everything was really cheap as well. The biggest thing to keep in mind is: THEY DO NOT ACCEPT DEBIT OR CREDIT CARDS. When we were there, a man had to drive to an ATM to pay for his meal. read more

Came from out of town to visit family members last fall. I remembered eating there as a child. I convinced my husband and son to stop and eat there with me because of the memories. It was early in the night, there were quite a few cars sitting there when we stopped. totally unaware as to what the closing time was and considering they were so many cars sitting in parking lot.We proceeded to go on in and sit down to have our meal. The waitress on older lady seem to be annoyed that we had came in to eat.She was rude and seemed annoyed as well to another customer that came in to eat after us. Unaware of closing time I asked my husband to go look and see what time they closed. It was within an two hours of closing.As we sat there, we realised most of there orders were take out. Maybe that was why she was so annoyed.The food was good, but not good enough to treat your customers like we and the other costomer was treated because we came in a sit down to eat instead of pulling up.Have since went visit family members this July for the holidays and just pass on by.I will always have found memories of the dinner it once was but I'll never stop there again. read more
