A roadside must in Tennessee. This place has been serving burgers, fries and cones for almost 70 years. It doesn't miss a beat. You order at the counter from a select menu, featuring great cheeseburgers, the local fav pizza burger, chili dogs, and a small sampling of salads. Fries and onion rings (the latter is top notch) are the sides. Then a huge selection of milk shakes that are just outstanding introduced the ice cream selections. You gotta try one. Prices are extremely reasonable. Seating inside and outside or you take it to go. This place is a real throwback to local drive-in traditions. Warm friendly service with plenty of banter for the locals. Just sit back and take it all in. read more

The burgers, hot dogs and onion rings are good. The service is great, the store is an actual 1950s restaurant. So thats cool. Its a fun place to eat. The ice cream is really good. Never had a bad experience here. read more

I have been told by lots of my new neighbors have to eat here. So Just too hot to cook today and felt like I deserved a special treat today. So what better than cheese burger with onion rings and chocolate shake, well I am happy to report, everyone was right, sorry it took me a while to try. the burger was a large hand formed patty cooked perfectly, nice and juicy just right did not have to say "where's the beef". I choose to eat in but they also have car hop service. you could stay in car, love that no drive through. Now I have followed advice will be back, but what ever I order will include the perfect onion rings. read more

Best shake in East Tennessee..according to Tennessee magazine, and I have to agree. Car hop is a throwback but these ladies do it well in any kind of weather, so please tip them well ! Burgers, dogs, shrimp, sandwiches fries , onion rings, ice cream all worth breaking your diet for. The strawberry shake with real strawberries is my fav, but anything you like in a milkshake you're gonna love here. Also banana splits, ice cream and soft serve cones. Small inside and outdoor patio seating but most people just pull up to a park spot and wait couple seconds on the ladies to come take your order and again to serve you in the car. You gotta try this place. It's usually busy, but service is quicker than most. read more

Frosted freeze looks like it has seen some times good and bad. Food needs updating, crafting, and innovation. It seems to survive, but because this is the only " ice cream spot," I have no interest in traveling farther than the grocery store to pick up goodies. read more

This is a great little place in tazewell. Great food and great service. The hamburger was delicious. The dip dog was huge and crispy. They have the best milk shakes. Reminder they do not take cards cash only read more

I have eaten frostee freeze over 100 times, maybe more. It was My first job as a car hop at 14 years old also. The food here is delicious and makes you want to keep coming back for more. Their custard ice cream is like none I've tasted before. Add some wet walnuts and woohoo! Pizza burgers are one of my favorite things to eat! Very unique! The dip dogs are rolled in homemade batter deep fried crispy and delicious! Cheese munchies are a must!! The inside dining area reminds me of a 50's diner. The bathroom is kinda small but clean! Definitely check out the frostee if you get the chance. My hubby and I will drive back to Tazewell just for a burger and it's almost an hour drive just to get there. read more

Came here yesterday with my husband and the food was not that great - the French fries were not crisp they were soggy - wanted the mozzarella sticks ( cheesy sticks ) and the girl said no the machine isn't working with a sour attitude - ! The table was filthy so I decided to clean it myself - I'm just not impressed with this place - the only reason I'm giving this place two stars is the strawberry milkshake was delicious read more

My fish sandwich and onion rings we good and the milk shake was amazing! Service was fast a friendly.

Cute iconic place in town where you can grab breakfast/lunch and assorted ice cream goodies. We got some milkshakes and soft serve. Nothing special, but it was a nice treat while in town. Not a ton of seating and the place could use some updating, buy it adds to its charm. Cash or local checks only, by the way. read more

Definitely have to try the munchers when you go. I am from the Tri-Cities so I was missing my Pal's after moving here until I found out they served Munchers anytime of the day. That's a win for them. Their burgers are great to. Mom loves their egg sandwiches with mayo and tomatoes. Thanks Frostee Freeze for not making me miss my cheesy tots no more. Yummy. read more

Great service! Great food! Old school drive in fun! Brings back memories! Try the peanut butter milkshake!

The order taker was overwhelmed with customers automobiles.. one person trying to keep up with everyone outside is insane.. four times five people watching two people work inside... how about opening up the dining room.. having some accountability to the customers who are waiting a extremely long time and the human being that is working way to hard outside.. in the rain.... Five stars food and ice cream... Five thousand stars to the female outside doing all customer service... negative stars to the inside staff hiding inside and not helping read more

Honestly, if I lived in Tazewell, I'd probably give the place 5 stars. You know, they ain't got much up on that end of highway 33. But, being from North Knoxville, the Duke is pretty cultured and has been exposed to some finer establishments. Me, Steve and Austin was up doing some work for Sapphire's old ass papaw, and stopped by to get some milkshakes. Me and Steve got chocolate, cause we're men, and Austin got a strawberry, cause well, he's just not. Picked up a Ham sandwich with an extra dollop of mayo, too, for the ride back down 33. I mean they are practically giving it away anyway for only $2.06. Outstanding prices and good quality. #thedukeapproves read more

Cash only, you can dine in (even though it says drive in), and wifi! I'm a fan! I lived like 2 minutes away from here for a year and never bothered to check it out until I read the reviews on yelp. I was shocked to see that a lot of the sandwiches on their menu were cheaper than McDonalds. I got the fish sandwich + onion rings + mozzarella sticks. The fish sandwich and mozzarella sticks were delicious and worth the price. I thought the onion rings were just okay but they were only $1.39. I think I'll go for the french fries next time. I also got ice cream and it was pretty good too + they fill it up as high as they can in the cone (you get less in the cup). They were pretty busy when I walked in around 4:00 (Wednesday). They had a lot of drive ins and a lot of people dining in. They also have 3 tables outside if it's packed inside. I really liked this place and I'll be back often! read more

My earliest memories of this restaurant were forged with my father while traveling to and from Knoxville on shopping trips. Forty years later not much on the menu has changed and I mean that in a good way! Back then we would usually enjoy a a lunch of chili dogs or chili buns, crinkle fries, and the obligatory root beer. On this visit we sampled burgers, fries, and onion rings. My wife and I shared a Pizza Burger and Cheeseburger with all the fixings and opted for the quarter pound size of each. The pizza version missed the mark for us in that the sauce overwhelmed the other ingredients and made it nothing more than palatable. The Cheeseburger on the other hand was excellent with the mustard adding the contrasting sour hint the Pizza Burger was lacking. The beef seemed good quality and for us the upgrade to 1/4 pound size gave the right ratio of meat to bun. The fries were decent if not quite as good as I remember. For me fries need to be crispy (which these were) and salted as soon as they are removed from the fryer so the salt adheres to them (these were lacking in salt). Onion rings were also pretty good, not amazing but not bad. Would order the Cheeseburger again but looking forward to chili buns next time around! Can't wait!! read more

Prices are too high!!! It's just ordinary nothing special. Nothing else to leave other than we won't go back. Shame I have to hit a star when we don't care for them. Many do evidently from seeing a lot if cars in parking lot. I'm glad they support the business. read more

A great place for custard (soft serve ice cream) after a day at the lake. Never had their food, but the place looks nice enough. It's super cheap, tasty, and fast. I recommend the ice cream for sure. You can also order from you car and they'll deliver it to you there! read more

Food is pretty good. I go there every couple months or so. The people are super rude though... just unfriendly. And the place is generally messy. Burgers are good though, so it's a decent trade if I'm in a good enough mood to deal with rude folks. read more
