I hired this company about 2 years ago and they did an excellent job for me at a reasonable price. They, however, are now called Advanced Windows, but they still came back and did some caulking for me and replaced a cracked window for me free of charge. They also arranged for me to get a rebate from both the power company and the gas company because of the energy cost they save with their specially insulated double-pane windows and I couldn't be more pleased with how they look and keep the sounds outside to a bare minimum. read more

We paid $19K to this company to replace our windows, but have a really bad experiences. On Oct 10, 2022, the workers of Energywise Windows Inc replaced our windows - six months after Greg Ginther did the measurement. During the installation, the workers found that the measurement for one window was incorrect, and one piece of glass of a new window was broken during installation. The old windows were already removed and damaged. Because of this, we had to live with plywood board patches for the whole holiday season until the replacement came in on Jan 10, 2023. We were told the windows have life time warranty. We thought we would not need to worry about the foggy issue anymore. However, on Oct 30, 2023, after a big rain and a sudden temperature drop, we found three pieces of glass with moisture trapped and fog. Greg Ginther was contacted, and he came and confirmed that three windows need a glass replacement. He said that the new windows would be delivered within 6 months and he would contact us when ready. This never happened. Recently, we found a big piece of exterior window trim missing and water damage. We contacted Greg - no reply. Called his number - directly went to voice message. Our messages were read and later blocked. We are easygoing customers and seldom complain. But in this case, it is outrageous that we spent around 20k and ended up in such a big mess. read more

We decided to replace some original windows and a patio door with energy efficient and more sound-reducing ones. We got 3 different quotes from top companies in the area, and Energywise gave us the best quote and with a shorter turnaround time. The owner, Greg, comes out to do the quote himself and he's very quick. That's not a bad thing! You don't have to worry about someone trying to oversell you on things you don't need or take up an hour of your time. He gives you honest answers and suggestions and a quote for exactly what you ask for, then leaves (telling you to get in touch with him if you're interested). No pushiness, no overselling! Lynn, who handles the scheduling, is great with communication! She responded very quickly every time we had a question or when they needed to reschedule installation (because of rain in the forecast). The day of installation we had a team of four that got here early morning, during the time frame we were given. They were polite, hard-working, and cleaned up very nicely after the job was done. There was a small issue with a couple of locks not working and Greg was quick to order new replacements and have them installed as soon as they came in. We are completely happy with our new windows and have already noticed a huge improvement with the sounds we used to hear from noisy neighbors! Woo-hoo! It makes a world of difference. We have additional windows we want to get replaced and will definitely be calling Greg again. read more

We loved working with Energywise! Their quote was fair and way better than other received for the same quality and quantity of windows from a well - known competitor. Their employees were fantastic, clean and friendly. We had our windows installed during the dog-days of July and they were speedy and despite the heat, they were all pleasant and in good moods. I'm currently pregnant, so I was not looking forward to having no A/C during the install, but they did things so efficiently that it didn't get uncomfortable in the house. They worked around our zoo (all three dogs and both cats) with no issues. The mason made sure that the exterior looked as if the windows had been their the whole time. They look perfect. We definitely recommend contacting them for windows or doors. And, we actually just put in a second order to create another window where there isn't one currently. read more

Jacob called us yesterday and sent his installers back to clean up for us. We had already done most of the work but they did clean up the remaining pieces of glass in the street and hose off our deck. The crew leader for the installation apologized and admitted he was too busy to check their work last week. I appreciate his honesty and quick response to our complaints and added another star to my rating. Plus, that bottle of Jim Beam was a nice touch. These are good people and I do recommend them. Just keep an eye on the installation and clean up process. The windows are wonderful. read more

We live in a house that was built in the 60s and had the original windows, which had basically ceased fitting in the holes properly sometime during the Reagan administration. They were single pane and dingy as can be. We got all new Windows from EnergyWise and could not be happier with them. I'm a bit of a picky person when it comes to decor, and I was hesitant about vinyl Windows because I've seen them done poorly and was concerned. Greg came out multiple times to the house to help make sure I got exactly what I wanted, and I didn't need to worry, these are super high quality and--bonus!--you can do one color for the part that shows on the exterior and another for the interior, so I did bronze outside and white inside. My house wouldn't have looked good with white Windows outside, and the bronze is perfect and makes the Windows look like they're made of metal rather than vinyl. I love them! The guys who installed the Windows did an awesome job as well; they were very neat and thorough, and left everything 10 times better than they found it. I'm super happy with my new Windows: fresh, beautiful, high quality, and quiet! Definitely work with EnergyWise because the product is great and the service is awesome. read more

Just got our second set of windows (10/16/12) changed with Greg and both times we had good experience with him. Greg is a nice and friendly guy, easy to talk to. He is never trying to sell you the more expensive window. He would give you suggestions/options when it is needed. He does use a lot of window terms and talk too fast for me to digest all the information, but he is patient, so just keep asking him questions. Write down what he said/suggested, because he will forget and you do want the best option for that window in that room. One thing to know, warranty on window does NOT means warranty on glass. That means broken glass is not warranted. Your insurance will pay if you got glass coverage which most people do not have. We do only because we live on golf course and once a year one of our window will break. Our first set of windows was changed in 2009 and the windows were very nice. Our house was build in 1999 by Standard Pacific. 4000 sq/ft house with A LOT of windows and none was low-E. Greg had his own installers at the time. Four people, one kid has minor ADD/ADHD, and to help the kid out, Gerg keeps him on the team. From them we learn that there can be a lot of mark-up in window business, like furniture, but Greg try to keep the price reasonable. Now, Greg out source his installing job to two handyman brothers, Don and Jason. Both guys are very nice and good people and very good at what they do. We actually planning to hire them ourselves for some handyman work. Our second sets of windows did not look as 'nice' as our first set, but I think that is more a person preference. Our first set had more curve look, less corners, which gives a softer touch/look. HOWEVER, the second set of windows are much better in keeping the outside air out, which in turn keeps our rooms cool or warm for the two seasons that Texas gets. How do i know that? Right after these windows were installed, we had a cold front. I notice the heater wasn't on much the whole night but it was warm. so I grabbed my kids' temperature measurement (the kind that scans the forehead) and measured the new window (by touching the glass), it said 73F. I think the outside temp was about 50 that morning. I went to the door on the other side of the room (we didn't change the glass yet) and the glass measured to be 66F. I have a thermometer near the door on the bookshelves. Guess what it said, 73F!! And the heater was set to ......... 73.... Nice!! my husband pointed out that our newer window's double glass is much thicker, almost 1 inch thick. The windows we changed out in 2009 was 3/4 or 1/2 inch. This matters, thicker double glass more low-E gas in between gives better insulation. we are thinking finishing the remaining windows with Greg soon. It is not pocket change and it is holiday/property tax season, but definitely, we notice the temperature variation between rooms with old windows and rooms without old windows. the new windows helps a little on the allergy also, we sleep better now. read more

I had 6 double hung and one casement window installed by Energywise. Could NOT be happier! Greg came to my house, gave an excellent and easily understood presentation of the window choices...gave a quote on the spot. Gave honest advice that I really needed. I am SOLD on this company! I got the VISTA windows and they are beautiful and expertly installed. From estimate to install I think was 2 or 3 weeks at the max. There needed to be one followup appointment and Greg was spot on about getting the follow through completed. Go with this company, I can't imagine a better outcome in product and process. We had a large job (39 windows) completed by Greg and his team. Team averaged about 10 windows per day. They were very nice and there is literally no mess to deal with afterwards. The bid process was great -- no pressure, and Greg's prices were very good. Some of the windows were unusual sizes and/or shapes but Greg problem-solved and figured out how to make everything work. My little 1979 house had metal window frames and foggy panes. I replaced the window in 2009 and it was one of the best purchases I have made for the house. Energywise put in beautiful functional windows. Recently I had trouble completely closing one window and asked for help. Friday afternoon - not hearing back, called the office (or is it Greg's phone, not sure). "Ugh, you know, we now experience issues with our computer, but we have all the data you've sent, so we call you back on Monday". Monday afternoon - not hearing back, called the office. "Ugh, sorry, we forgot to call you in the heat of the moment, but we'll call you back Tuesday morning and schedule the visit". Tuesday - silence. Wednesday - not hearing back, called the office. Left the message on voice mail, asking what the heck is going on. Needless to say, nobody called me back. They may do the great job, judging on existing reviews, but getting to them is quite a task. read more

Greg was great to work with. He gave me choices and was honest as to what he could do. This was because my house was older, built in 1972 and I just wanted to replace the glass, not the whole window. He said he thought it would work, but he wanted to measure it and talk to the glass company. It turned out that this would work and the glass looks fantastic in our house. This a three star company, and that really reflects the reality. They do OK work, but it pays to stick around and make sure things get done properly. They got the dimensions wrong for a couple of our windows, which lead to having to cut a section of the window frame, and also the wood frame. Some of the windows were installed without insulation. The price is also quite high. Regarding the business response: They care a lot about their rating, that's very obvious! The business rebutted my review using speculative statements, unrelated to the facts stated in the review, perhaps in an attempt to cast doubt on the reviewer. My review is objective, balanced, and is based on facts! The whole purpose of this site is for people to provide information on their experience for the benefit of others. It's really hit or miss with Energywise. If you get the owner, he's polite and very concerned about his business's reputation. Unfortunately we had to deal with some of his underlings who seem to care more about running off with the money than doing the job right. What happened to pride in one's work? They never offered a final walk-through to make sure everything was completed. The items that needed finishing out were well within reason, even the worker agreed. Instead Jacob asked only when he could pick up the check. He even had the gall to yell at me over the phone but was too cowardly to come here in person. A very unpleasant experience and total lack of customer service awareness. On the positive side, the windows are good quality. read more

So it generally has to be extremely good or bad to wrest me from my consumer slumber enough to want to say something publicly about the service. In this case, I can't speak highly enough of Greg and the whole team at EnergyWise Windows. From quote to installation, the entire experience was professional and efficient. The price was reasonable and Greg explained all the options in a very easy-to-understand manner. The scheduling was easy and the windows came in earlier than expected. The installation was stress-free and took less than a day (we had 8 windows replaced). They also cleaned everything up after - something that unfortunately isn't standard when it comes to contractor services. What can I say....Absolutely first rate company. We had our windows installed (whole house) approximately one year ago and I should have written a review at this time. Since moving to Austin 3 years ago we have had many contractors that were very poor, both in workmanship and customer service. Energy Wise windows is the best contractor that we have worked with, without doubt. In addition to our home in Austin, we own an additional 6 rental properties, so I certainly feel qualified to assess contactors. Greg and his team are courtious,professional and a pleasure to business with -They went above and beyond and repaired some damaged siding for us at no extra cost. I have read some of the more negative revews and can only disagree with them and state that these people have obviously not dealt with alot of contactors in the Austin area....His team are a credit to him and can be trusted with your most valuable asset... your home. In terms of price, Greg was extremely competitive and we were delighted with the end result. I would be pleased to be a reference at any time and show off the the first class job that was done on our home. Prior to starting the job, the team prepared the site to ensure that the interior was protected, then they spent time to clean up every night. Very nice. It has taken me a year to write a review, as generally people are only write when they are not satisfied. Last week one of our window mechanisms became faulty and my wife contacted Greg, he was on it immediately, ordered up a replacement part and fixed the window within 3 days, as we had to wait on part from the manufacturer. Greg ensured that all was to our satisfaction, even although the warrantry states that we would have to pay for labor - this was not the case. Greg is customer orientated and is keen to expand a quality business in Austin. I only wish that more contractors were like Energy Wise. Well deserved applause for a company that you should call whenever you require replacement windows or advise on existing windows. About 8-10 years ago, we decided we were tired of our old 1950s-era windows that were scarcely an improvement over cling wrap. We called one of Austin's major replacement companies but balked at the c. $10k price tag, which as I recall didn't even include the sliding glass door. We passed, deciding to wait for a time when we had more money. That time was a couple of months ago. After checking Yelp, we decided to call Energywise first, and Greg came out promptly. We were shocked that his quote came in at roughly $3,500 less than the one from 8-10 years ago, and this included a new sliding glass door. I suppose we should have, but we didn't even bother getting any other quotes. When the appointed day arrived, Dom, the installer, showed up, and by the end of the day the job was finished except for a few pieces of weather stripping on the inside. A couple of days later, he came back and within a couple of hours had finished. We've had two minor problems, one with the screen door, which had a small hole in in the screen (a factory defect), the second a casement window that last week decided it didn't want to close properly. Both problems were solved immediately and courteously. Every interaction we had with them was pleasant. Dom is a friendly, unobtrusive guy; even our dogs loved him. My wife and I had three sliding doors and a window installed by energy wise about 6 months ago. The installation went smoothly and the crew was professional, friendly, and easy to work with. We had a non-standard install as we swapped our old french doors with sliding doors and the opening had to be reframed to accomodate the smaller size. I also asked for fiber cement trim on the outside rather than the standard trim that comes with the doors. Everything was done well and fully insulated and caulked. We did have some minor cracking in the mortar work on one of the doors and the installer (Dominic) came out the next week and fixed it. We also had a factory defect show up in one of the doors and literally within an hour or two of my call, the owner Greg and and a factory representative were at my house with the fix. The aluminum doors we purchased are beautiful and have made a notable difference to the energy performance of the house. They come with a lifetime warranty, so I was happy to find a company that responds quickly if problems do occur. I've already had them measure for the next set of windows to replace and won't hesitate to use them again. read more

This is the wife here correcting Greg's comments below and setting the record straight as his version left out some very important details. After numerous attempts to get Jacob to come out and do a final walk though after the installation as agreed, I get a call SIX WEEKS later from one of the installers at 8:30 IN THE EVENING, saying he didn't know why he was being asked to call me instead of Jacob or the owner and was shocked that our job still hadn't been finished since it's been over a month now but that he was being pressured to collect the final check (I had held back a small portion with Greg's understanding that it wouldn't be paid until the job was completed). I reiterated that Energywise wouldn't get the last payment until a final walk though was done with my husband and all the hideous mortar work around the window casings and various other corrections we asked for was completed to our satisfaction. As it was 8:30 at night, we were in the middle of our children's bedtime routine and I told him to call back later. Never heard back from him again. Two weeks after that Jacob left a message and then sent me a text basically threatening to take us to court if they didn't get their money. Seriously? After ignoring my calls for almost 2 MONTHS now you THREATEN us? And, mind you, over the fact that they left their work unfinished. It's laughable really if it wasn't so ridiculous, and so easily resolved had Energywise lived up to its promise of coming out and completing their work as agreed. Our experience with this company has been extremely distasteful to say the least, from shoddy workmanship to the utter lack of customer service. Buyer beware! read more

Replacing windows is a big investment and we read lots of reviews and got several bids before settling on Energywise. The product seemed great and the price seemed fair. However, here we are months after we began this process with still an incomplete job. Greg asked us to pay half up front and pay the balance once installation was complete. Only wish we had done just that... On the last day of installation, there were some problems (a cracked window, a broken ballast, and the wrong glass on a bathroom window). The installer told us to pay the balance minus $500, which we'd pay once the job was complete. That was March and we're now almost in July. They came back once after multiple phone calls and emails. I doubt they'd ever fix the job if we hadn't taken the initiative. We still have two faulty windows and no responses from emails or calls. read more

I won't lie I couldn't get a hold of anyone at energy star for months so I wrote a bad yelp review because I hoped it would finally get someone's attention. It did. I got a phone call from Lynn the next day to schedule the window replacement then Greg called to apologize about getting us lost in the mix. We spoke about the tempered windows and figured out the problem was that they were installed in the wrong places so when Dominic came out with the new window panel he also switched the windows around to the correct places. One cracked while that was being done so they are reordering that window and will replace it once they get it in. I'm not sure they are the greatest with email because Lynn has said she sent me the itemized bill multiple times but It's not in my inbox, spam, junk or trash so I've still not relieved that. I'm not worried about it though because we got the windows sorted. In all if I hadn't been forgotten about they would get a 4 or 5 star so maybe an extra office manager would be a good idea. read more

We had a great experience with EnergyWise. The windows are really great (all their windows are custom-made locally) and the install crew was both good at what they do and fun to have around. It is so nice to have beautiful, clean, efficient windows instead of the nasty, outdated, inefficient aluminum windows that were original to our 1970 ranch. I can't believe the difference in terms of comfort level and NOISE reduction. Energywise replaced all of the windows in our home which was built in 1962. They showed up on time and began work immediately. The windows are great quality. The workers, salesperson and owner are friendly and honest folks. After the work was completed I noticed the following day that a couple of the windows needed a little more trim work on the outside. I called the owner on a Saturday. He apologized and sent a workman to improve the trim work a few days later. I would use this company again. My only suggestion would be to do a walk around inspection of the work with the workmen before they leave. If not for the additional trim work I would give them 5 stars. read more
