So we got a bid to have our kitchen remodeled it started out at 50 Grand. At Virgil come and do it the next year he up to 90 grand. We settled on some things and got things done for 55k something. The contractors came in and put in a broken countertop we had to contact Virgil to have him replace the countertop once. Now as I'm noticing it the painter painted all over the place sprayed my skylight with paint. Drizzled paint on several different areas. My cabinet doors don't line up some are perfect some are freaking out. My wife put some little ceramic bowls with candy on the counter and now the crappy countertops with the lowest quality product obviously that Virgil could get now have a mark where we have put cold ceramic bowls with candy in them. We realized we didn't have insulation in the walls and Virgil just sheetrocked it right back up and didn't care or offer to fill it up. The dishwasher came on hooked from where they mounted it the first year after. We've been trying to get him out here to work on our countertops but again he keeps running around and running us around and running us around. We also hired Virgil and his terrible team to come install three sliding glass doors. The doors came in of course one of them was the wrong direction. We also had a deck rebuilt and wanted to have a walkway removed and the labor or Virgil's boy said he couldn't remove it. Today Virgil sent over some chump to look at our counters again and he basically told my wife she was stupid and didn't know what she was talking about then cussed me out and bounced out the door. I found Virgil on Yelp when I was looking for a siding contractor. Virgil had great reviews and photos showcasing his work. I decided to give him a call. He was straight-forward prompt, and we scheduled a site-visit, that lead to a quote. The quote was reasonable, and after signing the contract, work began promptly. The agreed-upon job was: James Harding siding for the back, framing for the features of the house (windows and doors), and two new triple-paned windows. Virgil's team did a great job, and we were very impressed with the craftsmanship, details, and work the team did. Virgil's team also handled permits and working with the San Francisco Building department. We passed both our inspections. We added on a project amid our siding project, which was to demo and re-do our laundry area. Again, the quoting process was quick, the team took measurements, the contract was signed, and work began. The team did a great job, and we are pleased with the results. The total build time for both projects was two weeks from start to finish, not bad for the amount of work that had to get done. I was just not going to leave a review for ESC, but I think it's necessary. We are basically happy with our new deck they built, but boy did they try to take short cuts, (like not to code steps and railing) which we called them out on and they did fix. The staff was very nice, but I would not recommend them. It's been about 5-6 months after completing the job and we are still having issues. We're calling another contractor for help. Great deck design, it's just too bad some of the work is not good. Wobbling railing (which they came back to fix, but is now worse) and peeling stain (they stained wood in the rain)they also destroyed our sprinkler system when they demoed our deck, which we had to pay our landscapers to fix. It's a shame because they were very nice. read more

We hired Energy Savings Construction for a huge new patio, patio roof, sidewalk, 2 door replacements, and correction of some drainage issues. Virgil and his foreman, Brendon and the whole team were amazing, even though I requested several changes and additions. Every single member of their crew was polite & professional, from the electrician to the kid digging the drainage ditch. Every time I look out my new back door I am so happy with my gorgeous 25 X 25 stamped patio with 1/2 roof, skylights and fan-light. It was a VERY expensive package but worth every penny. Virgil is an expert contractor. We hired him to replace T-111 siding on a guest house that had rotted over the past 30 years. He suggested Hardi Plank siding which came factory painted to match our house and has a 30 year warranty. His crew was specially trained to install this durable product and we could not be happier with the results. Our 20 year old house windows started to fail. Not only did we have operational issues, but we couldn't get them clean anymore. Although we had a lifetime warranty on the existing windows, the 60 year old company didn't make it through the last recession. After meeting with several window companies, we purchased and installed new windows with Virgil McKenzie's company, Energy Savings California and couldn't be more satisfied with the results. Energy Savings California offered both replacement windows as well as new construction windows. Our preference was for new construction windows which meant we were in for a much bigger job and one that had to be done right. Unlike replacement windows, the stucco surrounding the old windows had to be chipped away to expose the studs and the house frame. The new windows would be nailed directly into the wood house framing. After the new window installation, the stucco had to be put back on and had to match the existing imperfect smooth finish of the rest of the house. Virgil's team, which consisted of the best stucco and windows guys in the area, did a great job. I highly recommend Virgil, Dave and his windows team and Luis and his stucco team.
