Gerardo with AGC Contractors is fabulous! A plumber recently came by my parents' house to fix a leak in their upstairs bathroom. After he was done repairing the leak, it was up to us to find a contractor who could do drywall repair AND paint the area. I came on Yelp to find a company who could help us do that but there were so many companies out there. I didn't know where to start, so I just sent out a bunch of requests here on Yelp and waited to see who would respond. Some companies never responded. Others said they would get back to me and never did. Still others quoted me estimates that were crazy expensive. After a couple weeks of going back and forth with different companies, I finally whittled it down to just a couple. I was immediately impressed with how Gerardo would respond quickly to my Yelp messages. I was also glad to know that they are licensed contractors. We set up a time where Gerardo would stop by and give us an in-person estimate. On the day of that appointment, Gerardo called ahead of time and showed up promptly in the timeframe we had agreed upon. He was very friendly, patient and knowledgeable. His prices were very reasonable. Our project took a couple days to complete and Gerardo was so good at communicating and working with us to find days/times that would work for both of us. All the contractors who showed up at our home did a great job with taking the time to cover up areas to prevent dust or paint from getting on the floor, tables, walls, etc. The repairs look awesome and we are so pleased with AGS Contractors' work and plan to contact them in the future. Gerardo was even so kind to help me install a new light fixture in our kitchen when he was done completing our project. It was totally spur of the moment, so I would have understood if he had said no. I appreciated how he went above and beyond what was expected of him and yet still had a smile on his face throughout the entire visit. Even though he had another appointment after me, he still took the time to do this extra job and make sure I was completely satisfied with it before he left. All this was done at no extra charge. When I decided to have my bedroom, window converted to a slider, I already knew that I would hire AGC Contractor (Gerardo) again because he did such a fantastic job on my fireplace. When we scheduled the install date, Gerardo gave me a couple of options, when I picked the date, he told me that his stucco guy would be coming to do the stucco a different day and wanted to make sure I was okay with that, and I was. I found Gerardo and his partner, Francisco on Craigslist because I needed some work done in my kitchen and my bathrooms. He answered immediately and sounded really respectful over the phone. He scheduled me in for the next day to take a look at my house, that way he could give me an accurate estimate for the work. A couple of days later, he emailed me a detailed quote that was reasonable and within my budget, so I told him that I would order the materials and let him know once they arrived, so that I could scheduled the work. It took about a month for the materials to arrive, but I kept in constant communication via text to make sure the materials I ordered would work for my project. He helped answer all my questions, including what kind of paint he would use on my kitchen cabinets (because i wanted to make sure that it was going to be durable and would last). He was super responsive and wasn't bothered by the number of questions I asked (because I like to have all my information before I commit to anything). When the materials arrived, I scheduled the work. He helped me order new cabinet drawers and doors. He had his cousin Eddie (whose a professional painter) paint the cabinet doors, drawers, as well as the actual cabinets (they were a ugly oak color). He built new cabinet shelving and replaced the cabinet molding. He also replaced the flooring, back splash and installed a new hood range. In addition to the kitchen, he replaced 2 bathroom vanities and mirrors, as well a toilet and glass shower door. We ran into some bumps along the way with the materials, but Gerardo helped me resolve all the issues. The results speak for themselves. I couldn't be happier with the results and I am so glad I found him to do the work. I highly recommend him and Francisco! They are both trustworthy, honest and have great personalities, aside from doing amazing work. No matter how big or small the project, they can do it! read more

I am pleased to give a 5-star review to Cardenas Handyman Services for the level of service and professionalism that Gerardo Cardenas provided. I needed a window raised and replaced, some kitchen cabinets and granite countertop extended in my kitchen, a doorway widened with an arch installed on top, and my oudoor brick BBQ island cut to new dimensions and retiled for a new grill installation. His work was top notch, was completed in a timely manner, and was consistent with his quote. When Gerardo first came out to my home, he took the time to really understand what I was asking for, taking many measurements and copious notes, and explaining to me how he thought the work would be done. He was very courteous and professional. I received his estimate in a reasonable amount of time, and he divided it it up by job as I requested. He also didn't hesitate to answer all of my questions. Gerardo and his assistant, Francisco, did an incredible job in all of their work. The new cabinets match the old ones exactly, the seam between the old and new granite is seemingly nonexistent, and the paint and texture on the patched walls match so well it looks just like the original walls. Above all, Gerardo is honest. When the new granite was being installed, he called me to let me know that the existing countertops were not completely level and asked me how I would like to proceed. He takes his work very seriously and makes sure that it is done right the first time around and that the customer is happy with the job done. Gerardo has by far exceeded any of our expectations. I initially contacted him asking for a quote to remodel our 2 bathrooms. He responded very quickly- we scheduled a home visit and within a week, he provided us a quote that clearly outlined what each task was and what it included (and didn't). Once we had the quotes (after comparing it with several others we had), we decided to go with Gerardo. We had him remove shower tub and flooring and replacing it with tile. Once Gerardo added us to the schedule, 1 week prior to starting the work, he called and stopped by the house again to make sure we had all the materials and to answer any additional questions. On the first day of the remodel, he showed up promptly on time like we agree. Gerardo and Francisco (along with another gentleman) began by prepin' the area. they finished each day (took 2 1/2 days) by 530-6pm, which we appreciated as it allowed us to enjoy the evening with our normal family activities. I have used them for several jobs in the past, just recently (See Tom R's Review.....sorry Tom, they were doing a million different things over at my new home around this week) They have done so much work for my wife and I in the past that we called them back to do general demolition, some electrical, drywall repair, canned lighting installation (Gerardo is a spider monkey!), as well as building a beautiful hearth. In the past he has done tiling. In the future he will be repairing and adding stairs to our deck...hopefully sooner rather than later. Gerardo and Francisco do excellent work at a very reasonable price. Both are always very respectful, friendly, and very conscious to not leave a mess. Gerardo will listen to what you want and make it happen. He has always arrived when he says he will, and is very quick to return calls. He provided detailed bids quickly as well. Gerardo and Francisco have been over here so much that they are more like friends. In our huge renovation project, Gerardo was a huge stress relief because we knew that we could count on him. This review is long overdue. My husband and I have taken on several remodeling projects over the years. Some have gone better than others. One was a total nightmare. We hired Gerardo and his crew for a full house remodel (kitchen, bathrooms, floors, baseboards, paint throughout, etc...). I was incredibly nervous about the timing because I'm aware of how stressful projects of this magnitude can be and I was about 6 months pregnant at the time. We were hoping to move into the new house before the baby arrived. Gerardo did an absolutely amazing job and he ended up finishing earlier than anticipated! It was our best remodeling project to date. Gerardo is a true professional. He is hard-working, honest, reliable, and trust worthy. His tile guy is excellent! It turned out that he was very punctual, did what he did and knows his work very well. He is very methodical and into the details and we loved that. We've had Gerardo do work on our home prior to move in, this time he and his crew were here to do our dry rot repair which was extensive. Also after the repair they painted the house. During demolition the crew uncovered some shady work our original home builder had hidden. What was hidden was that they did not properly put water proof barrier under the T111. Gerardo's crew replaced all damaged areas and properly installed water proof barriers. The house looked brand new! In the process they pressure washed the house before painting started and blew off our roof and cleaned the gutters. Another job done was the installation of new light fixtures outside, as well as caulking our windows. The whole paint job took just 1 day. These guys work hard and FAST!!! EXCELLENT detail was paid and such cool easy going friendly workers!! The prior work we'd had done was scraping the popcorn ceilings and painting the entire interior of the home. He's also trimmed our counter tops to get our new stove to fit and did an excellent job!! Next up is our bathrooms and kitchen remodel. We have recommended him to family and friends. Agree with other reviewers. This guy visited us twice, once with his worker to get an idea about the job...and then silence. Never got back to us with either an estimate or a basic courtesy call. We wasted a month to schedule home visitations for him. Two things to know-he's not a handyman but a contractor. The person he brought over (the real worker) didn't speak a word of English. So unless you are fluent in Spanish, there's no way to communicate without an intervention once the work starts. Lastly, since this guy flaked on us, I can't comment about the job quality. Given that he has such poor (or non-existent) interpersonal and communication skills I wouldn't have hired him anyway. I would be more worried if he disappeared midway of a job. Good luck. read more

I have 2 bathrooms needing toilets and new tile flooring and base floor repair. I left Gerardo phone messages both in English and Spanish, texted him and left one on his "request a quote" all in about 2 days. I never got a response. It says on his page he responds in about a day. 5 days go by and again I leave messages in English and another in Spanish because his phone message is also in Spanish. And I texted him again. I waited another day or so, nothing!!!!...I left 1 last message asking him if he was out of business or super busy and if he could be professional and reply for once letting me know what the heck is going on with him!! I have hired many trades from Yelp and this has never happened. All have replied in a day or so, sometimes showing up late but not like what Gerardo does. I've heard that some businesses won't reply if they don't like the job request and I think this is very possible here. FINALLY Gerardo leaves a text now after 9 days and numerous messages. Maybe it clicked he thought I was a bit ticked off and may write a bad review??. Well he says he's sorry for not getting back and that he's booked for a month, thanks anyways, bye bye.!!!!..Now I do think he didn't want the job.
