What is "a nightmare" about the 1st job? You never mentioned that before! That floor job was a simple one and it was finished in less than 20 minutes. I attached before and after floor pictures and described truthfully what happened later. I have your original quote and all the texts to prove what I described. The quote for the two jobs was $450, including labor, $25 fan and $50 pickup from HomeDepot. You asked us to pay $150 deposit, then you asked us to pay an additional $100, a total of $250 for the floor job. Hired Andres to replace compression valve on toilet to get working properly. Totally, improperly installed - not fastened correctly (whole thing turns now). He opened up the wall rather than extending the pipe from the wall, which left big hole and invites water damage inside wall (not up to code). Job not up to code, as pipe is INSIDE wall vs outside as it should be. No cover plate, no sealing or plumbers tape was used which also can cause water damage in the wall. Job lacked precision and adherence to standard procedures, leading to both functional and aesthetic shortcomings. He also insisted I pay in cash ($250), which I did. Stupid me!!! Update: thanks Andre, but you're being completely dishonest. You were hired to tape, mud, texture, paint and install plywood to the end of two cabinets. Quote was $400-$600. You never emailed me the invoice for the deposit or the bid. You guys didn't tape, did a sloppy mud job (see photos), left a mess (see photos), never textured or painted. $500 was the middle of your original quote. Since you did half the job I asked to be refunded $100-$200. Pretty fair. You said your reputation matters more than money, but apparently not. I'm not the only one on Yelp who's experienced you going MIA. You said your phone was dead, but all my calls and iMessages went through. But I suppose your phone is still dead, since you still haven't followed up. Original post: Took the money and ran. We originally agreed to a quote of $400-$600 to tape, mud, texture and paint a portion of ceiling and two walls as well as put end caps to a couple of cabinets. They taped, mudded, and sloppily screwed on two pieces of plywood to the cabinets. Got paid $500, and haven't returned a single text or phone call to either finish the job or refund us the difference. I've given him a couple of days to get back to us, but he's gone from very responsive, to MIA. That speaks volumes of Andre as a business person if he values a couple hundred dollars more than his reputation. He's also a real estate agent, and my wife and I were interested in making an offer on one of his $1M properties while using him as our agent. It's better we learned about his true character now than with a massive transaction like purchasing a home. In regards to the workmanship, NOT GOOD! Very poor job mudding. They left large clumps and streaks that I'll have to sand off to fix. They also left a mess in our kitchen and in the backyard, and left screws scattered on the front patio. It's been difficult finding a solid handyman. Hired Andres initially for a garbage disposal install, recaulking of a tenant's bathroom,etc which were done with no issue. He showed up on time and took venmo for payment. Haven't had to hire him for anything technically difficult, but I am willing to give him a try for my other units. Things I really liked: Great communication, also willing to do a followup when there was a potential issue. Pricing is competitive, but I was willing to pay a premium to get on someone's schedule the next day instead of 2+ weeks like some of the most popular handymen on this platform. I rarely ever leave reviews. Andres and his Father are worthy of one! I had a skylight that had been broken for some time and all 3 bathroom fans weren't working properly. I thought they needed to be replaced and would've paid for the replacements... after they took a closer look they told me they just needed to be cleaned well and lubricated, which they did for us. I would've never known had they been dishonest and only looking to make a quick buck. They fixed everything, saved me a lot of money, cleaned up well, and were fantastic all the way around. Wow! I am so glad I found Andres and Ygnacio. I found All Around Handyman here on Yelp and reached out about some fence work. I needed to replace several sections and repair/reinforce some other areas of my fence. I got a response in less than 30 minutes and sent pictures of the work. I was able to schedule time for the estimate just a couple of days later. Communication was great throughout and they were both very thorough and fair in describing the options and costs for the necessary work. Totally reasonable pricing, and again, with a good explanation of what was involved and included. The work they did was fantastic and looks great. These guys are efficient, professional, and also super friendly. When they came out for the estimate I also had them look at one of my bathrooms for installation of a new vanity (They can do a huge variety of work). It's a tight space and they were clear about the limitations and possibilities. Price quote for that was right in line with what I was expecting. Update: spent over an hour taking down and properly reinstalling one of the ceiling fans. Used the shower in which they "fixed" the drain only to find that the replacement drain DOES NOT FIT the drain hole and sits above the level of the floor. Unless you have time to babysit every bit of work being done (if you did, why wouldn't you just do it yourself?), consider any payment to All Around Handyman a charitable donation. read more
