This company has been providing propane to us and neighbors for twenty years. The last five or so years, there has always some negotiating in June/July for better rates. They are great on prompt delivery and service calls. They will work with group or neighborhood rates to keep customers. They are a bit bombarded in summer with calls so the wait time on phone is long, otherwise, not bad. Just this year they are allowing on-line banking bill pay; but it needs a few extra days to process because the bank "cuts a check" to Energy North. Still, it's better than writing and mailing a check, or logging into a separate customer account. read more

Be AWARE of this companies overbilling process and not being able to rectify it because there customer service is over seas and you will get NOWHERE! There's no local representatives that you can talk to. This company is the WORST. STAY AWAY! BUY FROM SMALL ORGANIZATIONS THAT ACTUALLY PROVICE LOCAL SERVICE! Big corporate greed. read more

This has to be one of the worst companies I have ever had to deal with. I tried to get a delivery for 3 months and finally had to change companies. Now thay won't to change me over $400.00 to pickup there empty tank. read more

After 5 years of using them for residential propane, I became aware that we were the only household still with them and that we had paid a significantly higher price for gas than ALL of our neighbors. Before renewing my annual program I advised them I had shopped around and if they reduced their price, we could continue the relationship. The "reduced" price was still much higher than competitors. Fast forward and I learn that a common practice for propane suppliers is to buy out the existing tank to facilitate an easy transition. Not for them! They refused and so my property had to be disturbed to physically swap tanks. Lesson learned... read more

Again cust service and managers in this co. Dont give a shit read more

Absolutely the worst customer service ever in my history of buying propane! They said to call at 30%capacity , so we called at their requested number and they said I had plenty of gas to last 10 to 14 days, well being a service tech I new that there was no way during a zero degree week that the tank would last that long! Plus I told them that new equipment has been added. They told me I was slated to be delivered this Saturday on Monday the day I called, well it's day 6 and my tank is bone dry!!! Now they want to charge me 150 dollar fee for there screw up and lack of attention to detail ! I wish I could give them zero stars. Never agin will I use this company EVER! Btw way this is the second tome they have done this! read more

I am no longer an Energy North Propane customer. Customer service started giving me the run around on a Tuesday and today is Friday. I had to call many times to get them to deal with a dangerous situation. I was dismissed to the point of second guessing myself about the request. They did remove the tank, once finally came and acknowledged the tank was dangerously overfilled. I continued to get the run around afterwards about replacing tank and rectifying the situation. The issues started the Tuesday when Energy North Propane delivered ~29 gallons of propane. The issue is the tank was last filled in September and has been off since - so it was already full. With temperatures dropping, we were ready to start using the tank again. I called customer service to ask how an already full tank could take any more gas and was dismissed three times. Each customer service person assured the tank was safe; one even mentioned the driver used a spigot gauge to get the fill level right (it turns out the gauge on the ~1 year old tank was broken). On Wednesday I asked if the tank was leaking since so much gas was lost in such a short time (while off). This motivated customer service somewhat. They had a driver at the house within eight minutes to disable the tank. After an additional call, they sent a tech three hours later at ~5:30 to inspect everything. After inspecting the tank the tech found it to be dangerously overfilled and need to be removed immediate because it was unsafe. The tech knew the tank was dangerous because liquid propane came out valve during inspection. He called a colleague to help remove an extremely heavy tank from the house. This was well after dark during a cold heavy rain storm. The tech offered to replace the tank that night but also said it could be replaced on Friday. I agreed Friday would be fine since it was late and cold and I would prefer the tank be replaced during daylight hours when they can see what they are doing. Today is Friday and I just got off a few more frustrating calls with Energy North Propane Customer Service and now management. They could not provide a schedule to rectify the situation. During this process customer service has promised call backs that never happen. Customer Service also dismissed me when I expressed frustration about being dismissed over the last several days. read more

These people suck, weeks ago came on automatic delivery and left note tanks are sunken in ground. Well fix it then. Have called 3 times and no response and no propane. Been with them since 2008. No more! read more

Poor service even in the end! It took them 3 weeks to get the tank removed and then they billed me 59.00 to do it. I had them for 20 plus years and there rates were no longer competitive.I have a credit of 458.00 dollars and they tell me that it will take 4 to 6 weeks to get a check. They just do not get it! read more

Under absolutely no circumstances should you do business with this company. We had a house built and our contractor had them do the in-ground tank install, so we didn't even make the initial decision to work with them. They are invariably unhelpful and sometimes rude on the phone. The initial person you talk to will never be able to help you. Only managers can do anything, though there is little guarantee that they will. They will always have an excuse for why things are they way they are. In the summer, it will be: "we're training people for our winter busy season. Sorry things are a little crazy." In the winter, it will be: "It's our winter busy season! Sorry there's nothing we can do." Also used: The computers are down again. The website is getting updated. We're switching billing software. When we first moved in, we signed a contract agreement for automatic delivery and agreed to the monthly installment plan. The first check got mailed with the agreement and was cashed immediately. Several months later, they call and inform us we are behind on the bill and need to sign a contract, despite the fact that we had already done so. We still had the cancelled checks for all the months they claimed, so they cancelled the debt due but claimed we were not under the contract so the price would have to go up and we could get the contract price next year. On several occasions, they would call my wife during the day and say that the delivery truck could not make it up the hill to our house, and asked us to have our driveway sanded. Our house is not on a hill. They were attempting to deliver to the wrong house. Who knows how many deliveries we didn't actually get at our house. After we decided to not renew the contract for the next year, they tried to pretend the balance due to us, over $1500, didn't exist. Again, fortunately we had their own documentation saying that we had a positive balance on our account due to us. 2 months after switching companies, my wife comes home to see a bill from them hanging from the door. They delivered $750 of propane. Ineptitude at its worst. read more

I wish I could give half a star. Go with ANY other propane company. 1. They just recently started E-Billing and it's awful. You get no details, just what you owe them. 2. They have no idea where their people are. Other companies use fleet management and can give you an expectation of when they will arrive. 3. I installed a patio in my backyard and wanted to use the opportunity to hide the enormous ugly propane tank by getting it put underground. ENP gave the specs of the hole to my contractor who then dug the hole. Then ENP came back and said the hole was too deep. The contractor showed them the specifications. ENP then states, "Oh yeah, we have a bad spec sheet still floating around in some of the trucks. 4. After the inground tank is finally installed, I run out of propane in the temporary tank because they were late to come pick it up and connect the newly installed tank. 5. I get a letter yesterday saying their paperwork is incomplete (not surprised) and they need me to complete the customer agreement. It looks like they just try to sneak in the 5 YEAR agreement that they neglected to tell me about that apparently just goes along with the installation of the underground tank. Look at all the other reviews and trust them. Google Energy North Propane and look at the search results. These guys are like the Comcast of the propane industry. AVOID AT ALL COSTS read more

Follow up - I've been getting bills from them for the contract I never agreed to. I now have late fees and "collections" notes on them. I've had no propane delivered and never agreed to the contract. I got through today in about 10 mins - explained everything and the very friendly lady apologized and removed the fees and said its all good. She explained that during that time they had some computer problems and things weren't updated correctly. I'm still bailing on them for propane service but today's call may give hope to their service for others going forward. Good luck. read more

Absolutely outrageous prices. I bought a house in January but have yet to live in it,its totally gutted, no running water, no walls, except a water tank and a heater which has been off since January and yet I get bills in the hundreds. 1st bill was almost $700. I figured I was paying for the people who I bought it from..I called and they said no! That it was actually my bill .. 2nd bill was $580, 3rd was for $430ish, 4th was about $290 and the 5th was $230 I called and explained that I don't even live there, that construction is being done and that my light bill is only $16.23 a month... So how can lp gas be in the hundreds... Lol, they replied that it must be my water tank. One that has never been used and that I shut off when I got the keys in January. I'm Working on eliminating them. read more

Price gauging to the max! Called them for a fill in August (typically the "cheapest" time of year to get a fill) - was quoted over $4.50/gallon! I was shocked. Did some calling around, everyone else is closer to $2.75/gallon. Called them back hoping to negotiate - no chance, best they could do is come down to $4.20/gallon. Felt wonderful to be able to call them today and say "come pick up your tank, we no longer need your service!!" And, not surprisingly, I was told that they are backed up several weeks on tank pick-ups. Sounds like a lot of people are catching on to their pricing scams! read more

Having a monopoly is pretty much the only way this company can stay in business. The communication is confusing, charging process is unethical and confusing and customer service is atrocious. If you can, go with some other source of energy. read more

Leaving this AWFUL COMPANY after 8 years. They tried bumping my propane price up to $4.30 per gallon. NOPE !! Called around and found several companies around $2.80 per gallon without the extra "delivery fees, etc" that Energy RIPOFF charges. SHOP AROUND, DO NOT USE ENERGY NORTH !! read more

It's been 3 years since I moved on from Energy North. No regrets. I've been with same provider since leaving Energy North and my price per gallon has always been 1.79 until my last fill up in the midst of a significant cold spell. Price this time? 1.99/gallon. Very reasonable. I'm sure Energy North is substantially higher. read more

Clearly Energy North doesn't care about their reputation online. They have no social media b/c they know people would just skewer them. Before you decide to use this company do your homework. If you ever decide to leave them call them MONTHS in advance so they will come get the tank. I purchased a home and there was a big white fuel tank on the property. I am new to self stored fuel as I have always had natural gas. I called 2-3 companies and was told how the process works with fuel deliveries. I call energy north, the owner of the tank on the property and they basically "assume" that I will get a fill. I politely tell the woman I am shopping around as I am new to this type of fuel delivery system. She gets pretty terse at this point and almost confrontational. Her tone is "how dare you not just take what you have and be thankful." The main reason I decided not to go with them is because they couldn't tell me the price of fuel. They bulk buy in July and then set a fixed price for the year. Last year's price was something like $3.29 per gallon. At other providers I was quoted $2.29/gal and offered a promotional rate of $1.99 for the first fill. So I decide to switch providers. I call energy north to say please come take your tank. They want to charge me $39 for the pickup. I say no thank you, I didn't order the tank it is your property come take it away. They then offer to buy the unused fuel back from me. FYI by law they have to credit it back. So we come to terms that after I pay the fees I will get a check for around $29. I say let's just call it a wash. You don't have to pay me just come get the tank and we'll call it even. A week goes by, tank is still here so I call. The first woman says they can't tell when it will be picked up. When I press her she says sorry won't do it or something to that effect. So I ask for a manager. He tells me it will be 6 weeks before they can come get the tank. SIX WEEKS! This extra fuel tank has to sit on my property. Not only is it an attractive nuisance it is dangerous, I have kids. Clearly energy north has not ever looked at their on-line reviews nor do they seem to care about their potential or current customers. This is not a company to use for your fuel needs in NH. read more

Very disappointed in this company. Have been without hot water now for two days trouble shooting our hot water tank. Only to realize it is a gas flow issue. Called on a Thursday schedule a maintenance appointment and the representative stated I should her back maybe on Friday but likely by Monday, just to schedule an appointment. read more

I would give them a "0" if it would let me! When I got my home 7 years ago they already had Energy North providing their propane so I decided to stick with them. BIG MISTAKE! They overcharge for propane if you don't have auto refill, they charge you a tank rental fee if you don't use the full 120 gallons each year. For example last year I filled up, as I have done every year, and they charged me a tank rental fee because I only used 100 gallons instead of 120. SERIOUSLY? They only put 100 gallons in it........ I have filled this tank every year for 7 years and this is how they treat their customers? Over charging, threatening to shut your propane off when you call to ask why there are so many extra charges. I am disgusted. Stay away from Energy North Propane, I know first thing this spring I am having that tank disconnected and removed! I am done being robbed by them. read more

I wouldnt even give them one star. They r the worst. No customer service skills whats so ever. They could care less about their customers. They make things up as they go:(. read more

This is the worst company, but to be honest, all propane companies are crooks. I recently got a fill up and expected with the massive drop in fuel prices I would see a drop also in propane prices. Nope. The bill came back at $4.59 a gallon just like the fill up 6 months ago. When I called to complain, they offered me $1.88 per gallon if I paid a $125 fee for a program than ended in a couple months. I decided to end my agreement with them. I found a propane tank dealer online, bought the tank and I'm having a licensed gas plumber install it next week. Guess how much I'm paying for propane now that I can shop and get market rates, $1.41. They are price gougers and they intentionally rip off customers. read more

Very expensive and crooks. I received a delivery in December and had to call to get the delivery slip two weeks later. And now they are charging me late fee $36.00. Try to contact them on their website....NO WAY. Called them twice and nobody has done anything.... You can get propane locally for much much cheaper. They are overpriced.... I will be having my tanks removed very soon and get my propane locally in Laconia, NH. where the price is much lesser.... I agree with Brian T.'s Review. Just now 1/13/16 I got a shut off notice.....Are they crazy. I don't owe them anything. Still can't contact via website. Phone rings and rings. Like calling the IRS. read more

If Energy North Propane installs equipment, they may elect to strand you with no follow up maintenance. Be cautious.

Switched companies 9 months ago. Energy North has yet to pick up my propane tank. Every time I call they give me the run around and are extremely rude. The worst Propane delivery company in the region. Not friendly and very quick at charging punitive fees that keeps growing at a rate of $35 per month until paid. You are guilty of the charges until you prove yourself innocent which can take months to resolve. Check the complaints of the mother company Amerigas on the BBB and you will see the unresolved complaints. My advice is stay away from this Propane company. Stick with the small local Propane companies as they are friendlier and cater to the local customers. Managers at Amerigas sitting in their corporate offices are not connected to the small towns in NH and have no clue what the customers needs are. All they care about is charging fees and punitive charges and the bottom line. read more

This company is the worst company. I would give them a "0" if I could. They charge a tank fee, they charge to remove the tank. They double charge your for propane if you don't use a certain amount propane a year and don't get automatic deliveries. They destroy your property when they deliver. We are leaving them. We have used them for years but they have no loyalty programs or lower prices for long term customers. They also charged us $4.50 a gallon because we only got a fill up every two years. They charged us a an annual tank rental charge and then charged us to take out the tank. This company is a huge rip off. They don't care about customers only profit. I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

I have been a loyal energy north propane customer for 30 years. During this time I made all my payments on time. In 2015 I was let go from my job and out of work for 9 months and unfortunately fell behind on my payments. Energy north agreed to let me make payments every 2 weeks. With a new district manager hired they wanted an immediate payment of $800.00. I couldn't make the payment so they shut my gas down during the middle of winter. With my disability with MS it's been a difficult go of it. Thanks for all your help energy north . read more

So I left Energy North a few months ago, and now I get an enrollment fee bill and agreement. Apparently they don't know that I'm no longer a customer ( how the heck does this happen!) this is the worse company of any kind that I ever done business with and they got even worse every time I order propane from them. I know they won't be delivering any thing to my house next winter, if I have to switch to oil I will. I'm amazed they don't have a lawsuit or maybe they do. they rip people off. I put an order Monday today is Thursday and finally got a hold of them just to tell me not getting any propane until tomorrow, they are fast to take your money "ONLY MINUTES" to get the cash out of my account. they SUCK !!! do yourself a favor an stay away from this company if you can people they will scam you with fees and all kinds of charges. After 6 yrs. I went to another com. Due to high price, I changed gas com. Iam not one to complain only if I know I'm getting screwed, so , so far I've been told there should be no cost to remove tanks,oh no there going to charge 150.00 , plus I was told I have to pay for the siphoning of the tanks which is 75% in both tanks and labor, I have credit of over $200 so I told him to use that for the removal and then they're supposed to reimburse me for the gas that's left in the tanks so now I got a pay for siphoning and labor this is how they don't reimburse you they keep charging you the tank sit here over a month which I heard I could charge them after 20 days. Also we lost electricity I cannot get to my generator because these tanks are in the way, should I charge them for that? the thing is if they wore my shoes what do you think they would feel ?the same way I do ! So you see I probably won't be getting any money back. I can now see why they have so many bad reviews and people are dropping them, word-of-mouth goes a long way! They do not deserve a star, but to continue I had to hit star, what a joke ! read more

In contrast with some of the negative reviews I have seen, I have had them since 1987 and they are terrific. I always sign up for the budget plan and have automatic delivery. There are no surprises You get what you agree to in the annual contract. At the moment, they are higher than oil but that's because the market oil prices are very low at the moment. High prices ($4.85/gallon) if you don't use their pre-paid plan. They penalize you for not filling the tank on a regular basis. I only need 180 gallons a year of propane, and I don't need regular deliveries. Price should be close to the market price, but they charge $4.85/gallon. read more

Be very aware that EnergyNorth has added a new Fuel Delivery Charge or $3.50 per delivery, no matter how close or far you live from their terminal. In addition, they have increased their "Regulatory Charge" $4.98 per delivery. Thus far they are unable or unwilling to explain the calculation of these fees or what benefit the customer receives from them. Both the new Fuel Delivery Charge and the increase in the Regulatory Charge were done without notice or negotiation with their customers. read more

Just call customer service and see how long their wait times are. Their recording says they "are experiencing longer than usual wait times" but I have ALWAYS received this recording. Energy North was recently bought out by Amerigas and they have shareholders to make happy so your costs will ever be increasing from now own. They owe me over $1,500 from a tank that was removed since I changed companies and have since filed a complaint with the BBB in hopes of getting my money (it was due in 10 days and its been over 3 weeks and request as never put in to date (11/10/15) by Energy North to headquarters (Amerigas) which will delay my check again, yet they threatened to send me to collections and put a lock on my tank in August. read more

Do not use Energy North! Horrible pricing and reportedly poor tank maintenance. I recently changed to another propane supplier and saved over 20% off the current cost of my propane provided by Energy North. I wish I had done this YEARS AGO!!! I learned that propane companies will typically absorb the cost of replacing your propane tank or else "purchase" it from your current supplier if the tank is deemed to be in reasonably good condition. My tank needed to be replaced. I would have saved THOUSANDS of dollars had I comparison shopped years ago and realized that I would not have to incur the cost for the excavation and replacement of my tank! Also, I was pleasantly surprised that the company that replaced my tank spread loom and seed on the area of my lawn that their equipment had uprooted in order to replace the tank located in my backyard. Please do not make my mistake and waste money that could otherwise be saved by simply making a call and having a "survey" of your current tank completed. read more
