The install of the new propane tank was seamless. A week after our change to Davis Oil for propane, our hot water tank died. Our elderly parents live with us and hot water is very important to meet their daily needs. It was a weekend so we called Davis Oil on Monday and by Monday afternoon (the same day!) we had a brand new hot water heater installed. We couldn't be happier with the service we received. I went into Davis Oil to address a bill that was sent to my parents. My mother had already had a…read morenegative interaction with Steve, so I was going in to de-escalate and pay the bill if he could show proof that it was owed. I had no ponies in this race, and had the money "owed" in my pocket. Steve immediately verbally attacked me as soon as I entered their storefront, and stated why I was there. He criticized me for being disabled (which I am ) saying that "people like you always like to play the victim", and that he could not actually produce any evidence that my parents owed any monies to their company. He continued to ridicule me as I left the building. Again, I had no skin in this game. I had money in my pocket to pay if he could prove why I should. I would be EMBARRASSED if I were Davis Oil. They ought to be ASHAMED of themselves. I was ridiculed and berated for being handicapped, and I didn't even owe them money. This was one of the most blatant money grabs I have ever witnessed, with no proof, and then subsequently attacking the people who said, "No." I will never use this company because I already thought they weren't great. After witnessing how they treat their actual customers/advocates for their customers? Hard pass.

When their delivery truck got to my driveway today, the driver got out of his truck to inform me that some of our overhanging branches were making it difficult to get his truck close enough to service our tank. I quickly grabbed a saw and started to cut down the offending limbs. Instead of waiting in his truck for me to do the work, he actually helped me cut them down and drag them to my dumping area on the other side of my property. This is what I call going beyond the call of duty. The best part, he was cheerful and we had a couple laughs. I can't remember his name, but he was the same guy who came to my house within an hour when I ran out of propane on a cold night this February. Now I'm on auto fill and guess what? I haven't run out since. Thank you Rymes, your drivers are the best! Glad I made the switch!

I gave him a second look because a good friend of mine said I just bought a new house and their tanks in the ground. I checked out the prices 30% less the Energy North. I have had Energy North for 25 years and consider myself loyal. Energy North stopped answering there phone or returning calls . Time to move on. Ciadelli were very professional and made it very easy to do business with them. So after waiting for my old tank be ready to be taken away, The day came on Friday. They came to deliver the new tank and were very professional. The staff seem to generally care! Ask me again for my opinion in 25 years

Then I saw Dead River advertising $2.39/gallon. When I called Matt about matching a better rate, he initially offered $3.79, and only matched Dead River's price after I said I was leaving. The final straw was a boiler service call: The tech replaced a thermocouple, but the issue persisted. Turns out, one of our two tanks (which they've filled for years) was empty--they forgot to fill the main house tank. We were without heat and hot water during a big family gathering from out of town. As a 'will-call' customer, I was told emergency delivery would cost extra, though they provided 100 gallons as a 'courtesy.' Worst part: The thermocouple wasn't faulty; the problem was the empty tank. Yet they still charged the full service fee for diagnosing their own delivery mistake. I've switched to Dead River (along with several friends and even some Ciardelli employees I've heard from). It's disappointing--wanted to support a local, family-owned business, but I felt treated more like a profit source than a valued long-term customer. Within a few months of purchasing our first home, our copper pipes in the basement started failing…read moreone by one. I called five different plumbers seeking help, but no one returned my calls. I finally reached out to Cota & Cota, seeing that they offered plumbing services. They said they typically only provided those services to gas customers (we were buying from Bob's), but I told them we were desperate, so they agreed to help. They showed up within 24 hours every time I called (which was at least five times over one summer) to get patch work done. Eventually, we decided on doing a full pipe replacement. They completed that work in 48 hours, and they did so despite a low electrical current running through the pipes thanks to dome DIY wiring the previous owners did and decided not to tell us about. We still need a new filtration system to reduce the acidity of our well water, but we now have functional pipes (mostly plastic). As far as I'm concerned, this company saved our home, and we are forever grateful.

Stay away from this company there management and communication is a mess and thus customer service is horrible. On a positive note I thought there on site service and delivery team are great. Here is my story. I came over from Fred Fuller when Rymes took over, and at the beginning of each winter season, I sign up for the season and sign a contract. Before the season starts we top off. So I called to do so, and they said you cant do that because it was already in the contract time frame. I asked for them to be flexible and explained that my sign up was based off this top off. Owen there manager said dont count on it, but I will ask. The next day the truck shows up and we are left a bill which is about $140 less than contract, and I think, good job owen and pay it. A few weeks go by and I get an invoice for late fees. I call and talk with Owen, he says he will get back to me wait a week. I call him a week later and leave a message, tehn another message and then a week later he is on vacation, I call him a week later and leave a message and then another message. I then get another bill for more finance charges via email and send a response explaining my issue. We get another fill up and I pay the bill, excluding what I consider an over charge. We have a small issue with the furnace and they come out and fix it, I get email invoice and pay it again minus this overcharge and email customer service asking where we are at with this. I get an response saying they are working on it. A few weeks go by and we run out of oil(last week) I call customer service and they say, no oil unless you pay that balance, when I explain they say pay or no oil. When I say why would you not send me something about me being put on hold, I pretty much get sorry but no oil. I tell them I dont think you can shut heat off in the winter, but they reiterate no pay no oil. So I am forced to pay it, and then they say I have to pay an additional $85 for emergency delivery. Again I say I have a contract with you and it is your responsibility to keep furnished with oil. Again no pay no oil. I sent an email back to my email contact and am told Owen would call me today and never got a message.

1 star is too many stars -- Five years of frozen regulators, water in my then brand new tank, and…read moreno accountability I've been a customer of Rymes/Superior Propane since 2018, and I can say without hesitation: do not use this company if you have any other option. Since May 2021, I have dealt with six separate frozen regulator failures at my property -- a recurring problem that multiple Rymes/Superior employees and my independent licensed plumber all attributed to the same root cause: water in the lines/tank. 5/24/21 -- Regulator failure; entire house smelled of propane. 2/04/23 -- Frozen regulator, pipes froze. Cost me $1,100 out of pocket. 2/18/23 -- Froze again two weeks later. 11/29/23 -- Froze again after a delivery. Cost me $250 out of pocket. Was told to have handyman insulate the regulator because Rymes wouldn't fix the actual problem. 12/14/24 -- Froze again. 12/06/25 -- Froze again, with the tank at just 18% and no automatic delivery triggered -- a failure of their own delivery system. This spring, they drained the propane in my tank (poof, in the air) and it was confirmed that there was water in my underground tank. They finally replaced the tank this month. To add insult to injury, in the process caused $4,498 in damage to my driveway (their insurance did cover this, to their credit). Beyond these failures, customer service has been consistently abysmal. I once spent 2 hours and 16 minutes on hold just trying to reach a live person about an active freeze up. In addition, I am currently paying $0.92 more per gallon than their competitor charges. In total: over $33,623 spent with this company, $1,600 in additional costs directly caused by their negligence, five years of stress, and property damage. If you're considering Rymes/Superior Propane, look elsewhere!
