I drove by the office of Energy Conservation Solutions today. It is EMPTY and there is a "For Lease" sign on the door.

Thanks for the response, Heather. The review was actually in 2022. It took a year after the…read moreinstallation, a lot of emails with attachments and explanations and some very frustrating conversations, but the issue was finally resolved. One of several things that could be vastly improved, if not already, is the sales pitch. There were things that were explained wrong and things that just were not true. There's all the hype about you can go solar for no cost. That's not true. It does cost. There's a finance payment. I was told I would get a huge state rebate as well as a federal tax credit and I could use that to pay off part of the loan. The sales guy even joked "or you can use that for going on a vacation". No one mentioned the balloon payment and the re-amortization. I didn't see that till I sat down and read through the two separate contracts I was sent via email. The second contract was supposedly an improved system that showed a higher offset. The state rebate, I didn't get that. North Carolina lets Duke control that and they run it as a "lottery system" so not everyone gets it. The federal tax credit is on your tax return. You don't get that credit all at once, it's spread over several years. So, there was no way to come up with the large balloon payment. So, that increased my finance payment. Each month I was paying practically the same electric bill amount I would have been paying without solar even installed as well as the finance payment. Like most people, I don't have the disposable income to be paying extra bills when it's supposed to be saving me money. I spent an entire year researching online; calling Duke Energy, Solis and even other solar installers to try to figure out what was wrong. I found a lot of useful information. Equations to figure out what my solar should have been configured for. The system installed and what the contracts showed for energy output was insufficient and the offset was therefore incorrect. The system installed wouldn't even provide half the energy I historically used and I had asked to configure it a little higher than the historical use. There was no way that it would provide the amount of offset on the contract. I tried pointing that out several times, but it felt like no one was really reading the emails or checking things out to verify. I was told to contact the salesman, but he wasn't answering phone calls and told me via email that I needed to be contacting Brady. Since no one was effectively communicating I did the only thing I could think of and reached out on your company's Facebook page, not a personal page for help. That wasn't met well with Brady and again, instead of trying to work out the problem the interaction wasn't optimal. I learned from my research what I should have been told in the sales pitch. There were no brochures, no written explanations, not even documentation about the solar panels or inverter. There was nothing on your website. If that stuff did exist, then for whatever reason I wasn't given that. I even had to install and configure the datalogger because the people that came to install it at least twice couldn't make it work. I figured how to install it and set up the net-monitoring myself by searching online and finding instructions from Solis and YouTube. It was only then that net-monitoring was possible. There are quite a few other people that were experiencing the same thing (some who probably also wrote reviews) and we started talking to each other trying to figure out what we could do. It took the help of a State agency to do anything. I will say, I was very happy to have received an email from Brady afterwards apologizing and letting me know that the information that you all had for my house was in fact incorrect, the system installed was not configured correctly and he offered to fix the issue. I only wish that had happened sooner and not a year after. I cannot adequately express how stressful that year was. That leads me to one of the other things that could be improved. Communication. My mistake was not knowing anything about solar and relying on other people's expertise and for them to follow through with their promises. I've been fairly lucky in the past years. There was a historic hail storm in our area. It beat my roof all to hell, but it didn't hurt the panels. I had to have my roof replaced. Your guys came out to do a LPI. Another improvement, the solar panels were stacked all over the each other. The corners of some dug into the solar panels below them and shattered them. It literally started as they were leaving. You could hear loud popping and creaking. Stack fewer on top of each other. I took pictures and let you guys know and they were replaced. So, I have updated my review. I moved it from 1 star to 3 because the situation was finally corrected. But my entire experience would not justify going higher than that.

When you're replacing a roof while living in another state, trust becomes the most important…read morefactor. We bought a 2003 home that still had its original roof, complete with solar panels, and had to coordinate everything from a distance. That could have been incredibly stressful, but Marcus made it feel surprisingly easy. He was consistently proactive, communicative, and transparent throughout the project. We never felt like we were wondering what was happening. When rain threatened the schedule, he immediately brought in additional crew members so they could finish before the weather rolled in. Instead of excuses, he found solutions. The installation itself was fast, organized, and professional. The crew arrived when they said they would and got the job done efficiently. One unexpected highlight was the documentation afterward. The drone photos of the finished roof were outstanding, and the detailed paperwork made getting approval from our homeowners insurance company simple. It's one of those little things you don't think about until you need it, and they absolutely delivered. We did run into some frustrations with the separate solar vendor, but as far as Elite Roof & Solar is concerned, we'd hire them again in a heartbeat. In fact, our parents are buying an older home in the Asheville area. When that roof eventually needs replacing, Marcus will be our first call. It's rare to find a contractor who combines excellent workmanship with great communication and follow-through. Elite Roof & Solar earned our trust, and that's probably the highest compliment we can give.

They cleaned up nice too; no scraps or bit or pieces or wrappers or anything laying around; a little raking, some blowering, and a couple guys did a couple passes with the nail finders and the place looks a little better than when they showed up. Good news/bad news: they do such nice work that I'm probably never going to see these guys again.

The estimate was scheduled promptly and the estimator was friendly but kept pushing drippage rails on us saying it required by NC building codes and we would not get a warranty on the new roof if it was not installed which we found out later was not true. It is RECOMMNEDED but not required by NC building codes. On top of that their estimate was the highest of all the estimates we received and $3,300 higher than the roofing company we went with to install our new roof. That's a lot of money we saved to put into another project on the house. Follow up to owner's comments: If drip rails are required by Nc building code as you claim then why did none of the other estimates we received even mention them?? Much less tell us that we needed them to get the warranty on our new roof? Maybe that why your estimate was so much higher than any of the other estimates we received.
