I went to have a root canal done at the California location with Michael Aregbesola. My initial visit went well but the tooth couldn't be saved on the second visit. I contacted them two months later because they still put the claim through. Almost 5 months latter I received a bill for a balance due. They didn't due the root canal and charged me over $500 dollars. I would think twice before using this company for any dental work. Never again for me. read more

I just had another root canal done by Dr Aregbesola in Clinton and I was so pleased. He was very kind and attentive. I have been to him before and when he came in he actually remembered that I have a bit of a phobia for dentistry work so he made sure to leave the topical numbing cream on for a good while and also he let me sit for a while to fully ensure that the lidocaine took as well. He even did the cold test before starting which not every dentist/endodontist does. He explained everything he was doing and what I would feel as a result. At one point I felt a little pain, he stopped immediately and gave me some more lidocaine in the exact spot I felt the pain. And after that I felt nothing else. I really do hope I don't have to get any more root canals but if I do I'm so glad I found someone who knows what they're doing. read more

DO NOT GO HERE EVER!!! I went to the Waldorf MD location where Dr. Michael Aregbescola told me he cares very little about my concerns of the treatment I was given from Dr. Campbell and BeBe (the assistant). I had an appointment today at 1010, I arrived at 0950. I was told I was having a consultation and possible root canal from Dr. Campbell. Because I was afraid of pain and that I may not have a tooth, I called my mom for comfortable which took 2 mins if that. I agreed to the treatment plan and paid my money, as I was under the assumption that everything would be done! Dr. Campbell walks up to me with a flat affect and says "It can't be done." Confused, I inquired why and he gave my no explanation and walked from me. I spoke to the manager Holly, who said he has the right. After speaking to Holly, I spoke with Dr. Michael Aregbescola who told me "all you are doing is complaining and I am not seeing you at my place of business. I am firing you as a patient!" Dr. Campbell also wrote false information in my chart, which made Dr. Aregbescola disrespect the way he did. I was so hurt, I drove home mad and in tears due the humiliation, disrespect, and the inconsideration was given. read more

I went to see Dr. Acosta yesterday at the California office to have a root canal retreated. First of all the entire staff is so welcoming and friendly. I cannot say enough about Dr. Acosta. His bedside manner is the best! He explained what he was going to do and made me feel comfortable and at ease. I didn't feel a thing during and after my procedure. I was thinking I would be in some discomfort but nothing! I was a little nervous since I had never had a procedure like this before and it was painless. The assistant Billeigh was great also! EVERY single root canal I got done at this location had to be redone due to dental error. My new dentist was discussed by the work done and asked if I new why he would put 3 post in my tooth instead of 4. I they told me that I needed several more root canals, because the nerve was dead, after getting second opinions the dentist said, those teeth were healthy, and the nerves were intact. They are inhumane. I can't begin to tell you the trauma that I have experienced behind my dental work from this location. Don't do it! Go elsewhere...Run! Save your money and your teeth! Ok so I never thought I would be on Yelp giving a positive review for a dentist however that is just want I am here to do. I went to the location in Waldorf 605 Post Office Rd Waldorf MD 20602 to see Dr. Petley. I was referred here by my new dentist for a number of root canal therapy (never heard that term until now) and honestly I was dreading it since my previous dentist did little by way of preventative care to help me avoid getting to this point. Anywho, I scheduled an appointment after some procrastination for October 8th and I was on my way. First I have to say that when I walked in the office I was greeted by two very pleasant ladies and I was checked in and waiting within 5-7 mins. In another 5 minutes Diane came out to get me and get me situated for my consultation. After taking xrays Diane went over my referral and it was at that time that I advised her that I was having pain in a tooth that was not listed on the referral. She set me up to be prepared to have treatment when Dr. Petley came in and advised me she would let him know about the additional tooth. When he came in he introduced himself, shook my hand and sat down. Right, literally sat down to have an actual conversation with me. *mind blown* When he started talking he explained everything he planned to do to assess my teeth. He went over my xrays with me and told me what his suspicions were and asked me (yup I said asked) if it was ok if we focused on my pain. What??!!! Of course it is. He said that he likes to listen to the patients and although I may have areas that LOOK worse than others the goal is to address the pain. He completed a very comprehensive assessment and advised me that it was in fact another tooth that he felt was the source of my pain and it wasn't the one where my filing had come out (that's a whole other story about my inadequate precious dentist ). He said before he got started he wanted to consult with my dentist to make sure they were on the same page and in agreement with the treatment plan (can you say efficient and professional). He felt that two of my teeth needed root canal therapy but the others did not and he felt that we should try to save those teeth through filings instead of going straight to the worst case scenario (which also saves me hundreds of dollars in copayments). After his call with my doctor he came back and advised me that they were on the same page and in agreement with the treatment plan. Dr. Petley sat down and started the root canal. He used a topical on my gums to lessen the pain of the injection of Novocain and I barely felt the needle (thank goodness). He was very gentle and his chair side manner was more than I expected. Not to mention we had a very pleasant and positive conversation able the care of seniors in long term care facilities. We had this discussion because I advised him that I worked with seniors. He was very compassionate and shared his story about the care of his parents and I felt honored that he shared that with me. The entire time he was talking to me I was totally relaxed. Usually I am very tense and uncomfortable in Endodontic offices but not this time. Although I could only respond with the occasional grunt and hum (my mouth was gaping with dental damn covering it. I was getting a root canal for goodness sake) I felt really engaged in the conversation. And let's not forget Diane, also a very pleasant, gentle and soft spoken woman. She was right there, engaged in conversation and making sure he didn't miss a step with what he needed to do and making sure he was handed any instrument he needed. Great team!! During each step of the procedure he paused and she led his work through X-ray (yup. Paused and checked his work. I said it.) and explained to me where we were and what was next. By the time I was nearing the end of the procedure I was so relaxed that I think I may have dozed off a little bit. Exactly!!! I said dozed off in a dentist office during a root canal. That's how careful and compassionate this Dr. was. I sincerely felt that he was invested in my treatment and cared about the outcome and in making sure I was comfortable and I sincerely appreciate that. After the numbing wore off I barely had much pain. I didn't even need to take Tylenol or anything and I thinks that's because of how gentle and careful he was during the procedure. I never in life thought I would EVER put pleasant, dentist and root canal in the same sentence however on this day I had a very pleasant root canal with a world class dentist. Thank you so much Dr. Petley and Diane. You guys are phenomenal. read more

The most pleasant dental procedure I have EVER experienced (and I'm no spring chicken!). Dr. Costa, in the Waldorf office, was very cordial and explained everything about the condition of my root and how he would resolve the problem. He asked me if I wanted him to tell me the steps he was taking along the way and as a former Forensic Specialist I was very interested in knowing all about the procedure and how he concluded the root was dead. He took about 1/4th the time and in the same day to perform this procedure compared to the last root canal I had by an Endodontist in an other office that took 2 appointment to finished. His assistant was detailed oriented and helpful as were the 2 young women working the front office who were very personable and helpful too.I would highly recommend this business. read more

It feels odd to be writing a review for an endodontist but my experience was so fantastic with the Waldorf office that I wanted to share it publicly. From my first interactions with this practice, they were nothing short of wonderful. I called in a lot of pain with a referral from my dentist and the receptionist actively looked for the soonest appointment, initially scheduling me for a few days out and then calling back to get me in sooner. When I arrived to the Waldorf office (feeling anxious of course), the team was very understanding and calming. Despite the fact that my dentist was recommending a root canal, they took additional scans and did the tapping and cold/sensitivity test to really determine what I needed. In the end, Dr. Acosta correctly diagnosed me as not needing a root canal, gave me the proper medication and I was feeling better in just a few days! I don't know many practices that wouldn't just do the root canal, since certainly it would have brought in more revenue. I can't thank Dr. Acosta and the whole team enough! Would recommend them to anyone that needs specialty dentistry in the DMV area. read more

I have an appointment for a root canal at the College Park location today, overall the dentist was very efficient I believe he did a good job the staff was good as well. My concerns and major anxiety just having a root canal, after the doctor tested to make sure that what kind of pain I was having, the office reception came in went over the treatment plan and then I looked at her so she was kinda still sitting there and said, I need to pay and I was like right now before I had the procedure and she was yes, this is office procedure. I was humiliated, nervous upset I actually stopped in the procedure during the numbing process. I was so upset, I've never been treated this way before in a dentist office they take your money prior to service, now this was my first time in this office, payment was not a problem, I had my deductible, I did not like with the fact that just before I'm getting surgerical procedural, you ask for money , I was more than willing to pay either before, I was in a waiting office filling out paperwork this was one of the most disgusting situation that I ever had , it was hard I felt like I was nothing and I felt like I was trash this is a poor unorthodox association. Root Canal Re-Treatment complete. And, if I can tell you that a Root Canal Re-Treatment went well and was not uncomfortable would you believe it? Well, Dr. Schermer, Myneek and Rosa did a wonderful job on my Root Canal Re-Treatment. Dr. Schermer is GREAT and his Assistant Myneek is very, very good. She is friendly, comforting and absolutely knows her stuff. Dr. Schermer called out so many numbers for almost two hours and kept asking for more Chloro that I knew I would hear it in my sleep. Myneek has only been with this Office about seven months and I know she is an asset to the Practice. I was nervous and her calmness made me comfortable. Her attention to detail was truly appreciated. She and Dr. Schermer have a great working relationship and that kept me comfortable the entire time. Comfortable during a Root Canal, imagine that! My first two visits were with Dr.Schermer and Myneek, so imagine my surprise when on my third visit, it was Dr. Schermer and Rosa--I almost panicked. However, Rosa quickly realized that I was uncomfortable. She talked to me and I quickly became comfortable with Rosa, as well. Rosa has been in this Office for years and apparently helps to train some of the Staff. I believe she trained Myneek. So, I said all of this to say that if you unfortunately ever need a Root Canal, Dr. Schermer, Myneek and Rosa are highly recommended. And, they also have a great Front Desk Staff. It is extremely rare to find a Doctor's Office that has highly skilled Staff and all of them are in love with their jobs. Lucky me!
