The New office manager is insane & saying that she lacks professionalism is being nice. Having been a patient here for at least 15 years & then being told over the phone, that im banned is the wildest thing I've ever encountered in a doctor's office. They never contacted me to let me know that im banned, I found out when I tried to make an appointment. This all stemmed from me being a few minutes late & I was rightfully upset. I've been a patient here FOREVER...but no more. ONE of the dentists is good & he is the onIy o would see in their dirty office building. Anwya I was 15 minutes late & the receptionist stated they don't have a grace period & that they charge if youre late. They send you a million texts & emails before your appt & none of them state that. I told the receptionist that this needs to be conveyed in writing somewhere & she points to the door leading to the office w all of their rules on it. A lot of good that does when I'm already here. The most worst experience I've ever experience at a dentist visit!!! First U went in for my first exam I had to explain to the dentist about the cavities that I had. He was examining my mouth I guess he could not see them. Than he drilled a hole in me of my teeth. When it's time for my visit he postponed it for 2weeks. I called for 15 min no one answered the phone. I had to text the number that text to confirm the address! They said they were SO BUSY , but when I came into office no one was there waiting. Matter of fact I was the first one to sign in. I will never return here. They said they are short handed the same excuse everyone uses, but that's why I picked the first appointment. I have been a patient at Rivertowne Dental for about 1 year and had 3 visits for teeth cleaning. For two visits, the hygienist thoroughly cleaned my teeth, and the dentist reviewed after. For the third visit, the dentist cleaned my teeth. The dentist identified a potential issue that would require an orothodontist. The dentist answered my questions and which helped me feel I had the information I needed. The receptionist was helpful in scheduling appointments. When I was contacted that my appointment needed to change, the receptionist was helpful in rescheduling to another time that same week. read more

This may or may not be a completely fair review, but I'll leave it anyway. I selected this office as my provider with Delta Dental. I am someone who works A LOT and have waited so long beyond what I should to get a deep cleaning, which other dentists have told me I need since I had braces and this led to some periodontal issues. I called the office to schedule a deep cleaning, and they said they won't schedule one until I do a SEPARATE appointment for an evaluation. Sorry, I sometimes work 7 days a week and it was a sacrifice getting time aside to go for a cleaning, especially since this office is 17 miles away from me (an insurance issue I don't care to explain on here). I find this inflexibility very off-putting and disappointing for a place that has such good reviews, so I'm using this to knock them down a peg or two. Update: It turns out this review probably was unfair. I called multiple dental offices after this and they all had the same policy. Seems very odd to me, but I guess that's the way it is. I don't think it's fair to penalize this business if they simply have the same policy as other places so I'm raising the stars for my review but leaving it in place in case anyone can benefit from the info. read more

Ok, so after not knowing if my previous dentist, Dr. Quentin Monroe, of over 5 years is dead or alive since the office staff isnt answering the phone, I went searching for a new dentist to fill the resin that had come off the hole covering the cavity on my tooth. When I called DC Dental Spa & explained my situation, I told the very nice young woman over the phone the situation about the tooth & who my dental insurance was with. When I got there, they took a picture of me (WTF?!) like I was a criminal, claiming it was a part of their new patient form. (Note: I can only deduce that because the office sits in the heart of GW's campus that alot of students have come through there, got services & skipped out on the bill.) Either way, I've NEVER heard of a dental office taking a picture of a person to go along with their personal profile. That alone was off-putting & I will never go back there again. And when the doctor examined me, he had the receptionist quote me a price of $2100!! So I found Rivertowne Dental through my dental insurance. Made an appointment & got Dr. O'Neal. After explaining the situation, we both thought the tooth would be a simple fix. But the xray showed an abscess. So Dr. O'Neal strongly suggested a root canal & a filling for the tooth....all for $300!!! He wrote me a prescription for some amoxicillan to kill the bacteria from the abscess. I had the procedure yesterday & Dr. O'Neal was very quick & professional during the root canal procedure. Loving the fact that he was able to save the tooth/my smile so that I won't have to end up looking like a walking jack-o-lantern! I have never been so excited to want to go back to the dentist to help maintain my dental care. :-) And the office staff was very professional. read more

Not sure where to begin with my experience at Rivertown Dental. My cousin recommended this office. I live NW DC, work Arlington VA and really had no desire to drive to Oxon Hill for dental visits. My initial telephone contact was surprisingly upbeat and positive. My subsequent visits were SUPERB. Admin staff is personable, friendly and welcoming. The professional staff is also on point as well. My fear of pain has kept me away from a dentist chair longer than any adult with health/dental benefits should. Dr Bishara was very comforting and reassuring; updating me every step of the way. He called the next morning to follow-up post procedure. I am a fan of this Dental office and don't mind the drive across town. read more

Great office, I wish I had known about this years ago. All of the employees are professional and friendly, which is a major plus for dental/doctors offices. They are very organized and timely, I've literally never waited over 5 minutes to see the doctor or an associate. All of the staff also seem knowledgeable about the basics, no "uh im not sure let me ask." I also like that they are flexible with appointment times. Let me preface this by saying the actual dentists are excellent, professional and take their jobs quite seriously with an heir of professional care for their clients. This said however read on for why I rated only 2 stars. THE NEGATIVE: The phone scheduling staff members here are absolutely awful. They do not provide accurate information most of the time. Have had multiple times where they have put me on hold for over half an hour to an hour just this year. It is also not uncommon for them to put you on hold within 60 minutes of closing and leaving you on hold until they close then you get a message saying they are closed and to call the next day. The scheduling staff are extremely unprofessional. The phone staff (Needs) to be replaced. They do not seem to understand they represent the office they work for each time they answer the phone. Its unfortunate to see such excellent dentists potentially lose repeat customers over inappropriately unprofessional phone staff members. Again the actual dentists themselves are extremely proficient in their craft. They are excellent dentists. If only it was not so stressful trying to get an appointment when you actually need one! You should not have to go through stress to get an appointment. You should be able to get any questions and concerns you have answered in a professional and astute fashion. Go elsewhere until the phone staff are replaced if you encounter the same. read more

Beware and do not come to this dentist. I was a patient here but never again the front desk staff was so incredibly rude and Ghetto to me I was shocked. I asked to speak to a supervisor and that was also a Hugh mistake she was also unfriendly and rude. Needless to say I didn't make my appointment and I will not be back its very unfortunate because the dentist I saw in a previous appointment Dr. Bishair was so nice but if the practice will not take the time to train there staff or insure that quality customer care is given then I don't need to waste my time and neither do you. I read reviews about the staff at Rivertowne Dental & was hesitant to go there, but decided to try it anyway. I needed a partial plate repaired for my 92YO mother. Dr. Bishara was very nice/good with her. He's very patient and friendly. She's on oxygen and in a wheelchair so it's difficult to get her into the facility. I paid upfront for one tooth to be repaired on her plate & Dr. B said I could pick it up to avoid her returning. When called I came right in to pick up the plate and the front office staff handed me a plaster mold with the partial plate stuck in it. I asked them to take the plate out of the plaster mold but they refused. They insisted I needed to make an appointment with Dr B. I explained about my mom & how Dr B told me to just pick up the plate. I told them I was uncomfortable with removing the plate from the mold, asked for assistance, but they refused. Then a tooth popped off the partial plate! It was not the tooth I brought it in to have replaced. It was still sitting on their counter, I never took it away. They insisted I broke it & want me to pay $84 more to have it repaired. I believe it was broken already before I touched it. The staff got hostile, rude, condescending, and two of them simply walked away. Finally an office manager showed up and told me I broke the plate. I really don't think so. I wish they didn't have it stuck in a plaster mold when giving it to me. Their customer service is non-existent. They lost 3 new customers today. It's a shame that the office staff treat people like this, and it's bad for the dentists who work there. I don't recommend anyone try this dentist office. Be warned, don't waste your money and time. read more

Customer service horrible!!! Was told to write a patient reinstatment letter to make a dental appointment because their office did not follow proper billing procedures and sent my bill to collections. Now I gotta write a letter cause they messed up the bill. Ridiculous!!! Office manager only responds to customers via written letter. No face'to-face interactions to resolve client concerns. Appointments to speak to the office manager have to be requested in writing. Who requests an appointment via letter? read more
