Although I paid upfront 500 here and there which the billing was very confusing. Now they are taking forever to pay back the 1234.00 allowed by the insurance that finally got paid back in January 2026. Frustrated customer. Absolutely unacceptable customer service…read more I rearranged my entire week to make it to my annual dental appointment at Audubon, only to arrive and find out I was being seen by a completely new dentist instead of the dentist I've been seeing for the past three years. No explanation, no heads-up -- just a surprise change when I walked in. The new dentist recommended a deep cleaning, which apparently requires insurance approval. Fine. But instead of offering me a reasonable alternative, I was basically told to wait until someone calls me back once the insurance situation is figured out. I explained that I was more than willing to have a regular cleaning today and begin the process for a deep cleaning in another six months. My teeth needed to be cleaned, I had already taken time out of my schedule to be there, and I was sitting right there in the chair. Yet I was told they couldn't -- or preferred not to -- perform a regular cleaning. So I walked out with my time wasted, my appointment essentially accomplishing nothing, and absolutely no resolution. And I have to ask: WHO decided to switch my dentist without notifying me? After three years of seeing the same dentist, I should not have to walk into my appointment and discover that I'm being treated by someone new -- especially when the entire experience felt like I was being used as a training opportunity. The lack of communication, flexibility, and basic customer service today was incredibly frustrating. I understand that insurance approvals and treatment recommendations are part of the process. What I don't understand is why a paying patient who has already taken the time to come in cannot be given a reasonable option to receive the routine cleaning they came in for. I left extremely disappointed and honestly questioning why I've been a patient here for the past three years. Audubon -- DO BETTER. I decided to come back the next morning, and they were able to complete the entire root canal in one visit. I recommend this office to all my friends and family! I'm going to be sad when I move again and have to find a new dentist, but honestly I'd travel back up here for their service. I lived in Clinton when I first became a patient and then moved to Virginia in 2020 and still travel to have them check my teeth. After receiving my insurance claim, I noticed I was due a refund back from the cash payment I had made the day of my procedure. I called the office to check on it. Only then was I told that there was a $145.00 "one time single use instrument" office charge that isn't submitted to the insurance company and is "an office charge for instruments used during the procedure". Sounds like something that should be included in the cost of a procedure since these instruments are needed to perform the procedure. As if dealing with insurance companies isn't bad enough, I shouldn't have to worry about my doctor charging extras to get more money out of me.
