My primary dentist, who knows how serious my phobia is, referred me straight to Dr. McElveen and his team -- and I'm so glad they did. From start to finish, this place has been nothing short of elite-level care. My consultation was smooth, thoughtful, and respectful. Dr. McElveen walked me through the best sedation option for my needs, and every step afterward was handled with professionalism and kindness. My husband was able to pull up to the side entrance (which looked like it used to be a drive-thru bank) and they wheeled me out straight to the car. Talk about first-class service. That kind of care doesn't usually happen at a dentist's office, but here it felt like I was being treated like family... or a VIP. While my husband waited, there was coffee and water available in the lobby -- a small touch that makes a big difference. He even commented on how comfortable the space was. Now for two helpful suggestions -- not complaints, just tips to improve an already excellent experience: 1. Blankets: The office was chilly (as most medical centers are), but there were no blankets available that morning. I was in short sleeves and could've used one while waiting. I understand they were being laundered, but I recommend keeping a few ready earlier in the day, especially for anxious patients like me. 2. Acrylic Nails Tip: If you're getting sedation, ladies -- consider clipping your pointer finger acrylic nail or leaving one off. The oxygen monitor has to clamp on that finger, and I didn't realize that until afterward. It'll save discomfort and make things easier for the team. Even with that, they were so attentive. My blood pressure was elevated due to nerves, and they monitored it carefully. Dr. McElveen made sure I was fully stabilized before even starting. That level of care shows integrity. And the follow-up? Exceptional. * I got a text the same evening. * I received TWO phone calls the next morning to check on me. That kind of check-in is rare -- and incredibly appreciated. My Experience at Fusion Dental - Waldorf…read more I chose Fusion Dental in Waldorf because of its positive reviews and because I wanted a dental practice closer to home. I had been receiving regular dental care in Virginia and had undergone dental treatment less than six months earlier without any major concerns. At my first cleaning and examination at Fusion Dental, I was surprised to be told that I had five cavities, all involving the front teeth. Given my recent dental care, I thought this was unusual, but I trusted the dentist's judgment and agreed to the treatment. The filling appointment was not a good experience. The dentist began working on several teeth, then left the room for an extended period. The delay was long enough that the dental assistants apologized several times. By the time the dentist returned and completed the remaining work, the appointment was approaching three hours. I felt the final two teeth were completed much more quickly than the earlier work. By the last tooth, the anesthetic had worn off enough that I could feel the procedure and had to be numbed again. I also experienced significant bleeding around the gumline before the filling was completed. Afterward, I began having problems in the treated areas. One contact was initially so rough that it repeatedly shredded dental floss. More concerning, food and debris consistently collected around the final restored tooth near the gumline. Despite regular flossing and using a water flosser, I repeatedly noticed an unpleasant odor when flossing that specific area. This problem was localized to the area where the dental work had been performed. Approximately five months later, I returned to Fusion Dental and requested a different dentist for another perspective. I was not asking for free treatment or accusing anyone of wrongdoing. I simply wanted the area evaluated because I was concerned about the filling, the gumline, and the persistent odor. Unfortunately, I felt the appointment quickly became more about defending the previous work than investigating my concern. The dentist flossed between the teeth and pointed out that the floss was no longer breaking. I explained that this was not the main reason I had returned. My concern was the persistent odor and what might be occurring around the restoration and gumline. The dentist then tapped on the restored tooth, which was somewhat sensitive, and suggested the issue might be related to the filling being close to the nerve. I again explained that sensitivity was not what brought me back. I wanted to understand why I continued having odor and debris in one specific restored area. I was ultimately told that the filling appeared intact and that the dentist did not see a problem. What disappointed me most was that I never felt my actual concern was thoroughly investigated or explained. The interaction felt defensive rather than focused on determining the cause of my symptoms. I understand that complications can occur with dental treatment. I was not expecting anyone to automatically admit that something had been done incorrectly. I simply expected my concern to be taken seriously, evaluated thoroughly, and explained. I am now seeking an independent dental opinion. My concern is not simply that I experienced a problem after treatment. Problems can happen. My concern is that when I returned calmly asking for help understanding a persistent issue, I left feeling that defending the previous work took priority over determining what was actually causing it.

First you make an appointment they do the x-rays and you wait at least an hour and a half in the room for the doctor. When the doctor comes in, she was very pleasant, but they didn't even look at my mouth. They only looked at the x-rays. They sent me directly to a financial desk to decide what my treatments plan will be. I had a broken crown on the side, that was my main concern. They told me that my crown couldn't be fixed that I would have to do either a partial implants or I can do extraction for a partial implant. They wanted to charge me $10,000 I told them let me think about it and got back to them. I decided to go with the extraction and just leave the bone just in case I do decide to get an implant. I called to make an appointment no return call. Few days later I called again a lady by the name of Nikki answers the telephone. I explain to her that I came in and I decided that I want get my tooth extracted and I'll worry about the rest of the things later which is the teeth whitening etc. First, she said she couldn't find my records and I have never been seen there which is incorrect. Then she finds it in the system and she keeps saying to me "I don't understand" I'm clearly explaining what I want done. She proceeded with " I don't understand" she proceeded to tell me "you can't just do one service" I said it makes no sense to me she response. Then all of a sudden she finds my records. and she said she's going talk to the doctor about it then I don't want any of the other options presented to me she'll call me back. She calls me back note today is September 23. She tells me that she spoke to the dentist and they said they could do that but I can't get seen until October 19. I asked was there anything earlier she said no then she quoted me a price of almost $300 to have my tooth removed. I said I have dental insurance and my insurace cost said that it should only cost $150 why is it 300 her response was I don't understand the question you're asking me she kept saying that it irritated me so badly. I was speaking clearly I said what I wanted and I don't think they like the fact that I only wanted one service they wanted to get more money it is price gouging and they are money hungry and I told her that I will not like to do this anymore. Once I said that she was even ruder and she said first of all, I didn't even let her finish with her first of all, I was done. I said first of all goodbye. The lady Nikki needs training she's rude and this location needs help. I should've take heed to the negative comments on Yelp and some of the other social media sites. Lesson learned.

I recently had a root canal done the week prior and came in to see Dr. Akinwande Kolade for a core buildup in preparation for my crown. She and her hygienist took very good care of me and made sure everything was done properly. She carefully prepared the tooth for the crown and placed a temporary while I wait to return in 2-3 weeks for the permanent crown. The procedure took about an hour, which is understandable given the work involved. Even though I had to keep my mouth open for a while, Dr. Kolade and her team remained professional, patient, and attentive throughout the process. Overall, it was a very positive experience, and I would definitely recommend Dr. Akinwande Kolade and her office to others.

It depends on their process and procedures. I paid for my deposit a week or days prior to my wisdom teeth extractions and was informed that the remaining balance is due when I return to the office. Again, upfront cost to pay before service is rendered which I did not mind given I was going in for teeth removal. (End Result) All to say it ended well with a painless outcome. I am now two days post from my wisdom teeth extraction and the pain medicine is not really needed at all. I just take the other meds prescribed. No swelling a day later as well. A doctor that can deliver an outcome as such is a good doctor indeed.
