He allayed my concerns by informing me that he would administer sufficient numbing of the area. He did and he massaged the area as well. He frequently asked if I was alright and assured me during the process. Surprisingly, I felt no pain or discomfort. I was so calm and relieved during the process. On my follow-up visit, Yessi did a phenomenal job! She removed my temporary crown seamlessly with swift action. She was relentless in assuring that the crown fit correctly allowing for flossing clearance. I loved how she worked. This young lady was quite proficient and professional and did it in record time! They do not do well at supporting patients with sensory issues or dental anxiety, or conditions like TMJ that make dental visits difficult. With new patients they are kinder, but with every visit I have made they have become less supportive and less accommodating. My last cleaning was extremely unpleasant and I was shamed into not taking breaks over the course of multiple procedures and fittings even though holding my jaw open causes my TMJ to flare. Then there's the high-pressure upselling. For several years, the dentists and hygienists at this practice have been trying to get me to buy a dental-grade night guard out of pocket, even though I had an over-the-counter one I had been happy with. I finally agreed because they told me it would help my gums and that I would face severe consequences if I did not "make the investment." I had to pay $750 (!!!) out of pocket. When the night guard arrived, it was so bulky and uncomfortable that I could not get a good night's sleep in it and I woke in the morning with severe jaw pain on both sides of my jaw. I went back to have it adjusted and suddenly I was being told that having a night guard means sleeping with your mouth open and accepting dry mouth, that jaw pain often gets worse at first, and that I would have to accept some bad sleep in order to become accustomed to the night guard. I cannot stress enough that this was NOT disclosed to me prior to when I made the purchase. Since the practice knew about my sensory and dental anxiety issues, I feel strongly that they should have talked to me about what the night guard would be like before pushing me to buy it. When I explained the above, the practice offered me only a partial refund, which would mean that I spent hundreds of dollars on nothing. I feel my trust was taken advantage of and I would encourage others to look for a different practice.

Right under the dental anxiety section, and when you click on that link, it literally says at the top of the page. "IMPROVE YOUR NEXT APPOINTMENT WITH DENTAL SEDATION" That's incredibly misleading. The hygienist was a bit rough with her cleaning, as I had sharp pain at least 1-2 times afterwards. This dentist was the first I saw as an adult out of college so the pain after a cleaning is one reason (among others) I now require nitrous. Regarding availability, I tried to reschedule my appointment before I moved at the end of 2015 but they were scheduling for at least 3 months out. I didn't know what a reasonable cost for cleanings was, but now that I have been in CA and have insurance, the cost I have paid with this practice ($220?) seems high. In my opinion, nothing about the practice really justified the cost or difficulty scheduling - especially since they don't have nitrous for anxious patients like me.
