Every time I had to reschedule was due to circumstances beyond my control--a serious motor vehicle accident that ultimately required spine surgery, a dental infection for which my dentist prescribed antibiotics before treatment, and an unexpected death in my family requiring out-of-town travel. Despite giving approximately 48 hours' notice for one appointment, I was still charged a $50 rescheduling fee even though I understood the office required only 24 hours' notice. I paid the fee because I wanted to continue my care. What ultimately led me to not have my endodontics work done there was the lack of professionalism and compassion shown by one staff member. Rather than listening to my concerns or responding with empathy during difficult life events, I was met with rudeness, dismissed when I questioned whether treatment should proceed while I had an active infection, and, after explaining that I had experienced a death in my family, was told the office would no longer schedule appointments for me and that I should find another endodontist. I understand that scheduling policies are necessary, but patients dealing with genuine medical issues and family emergencies deserve courtesy, professionalism, and respect. My review is about the horrible customer service experience at their Clinton, Maryland location, which left a very negative first impression of this practice.

Well hubby completed his appointment and has not stopped raving about the customer service and skill of Dr Ego-Osuala. Absolutely unacceptable customer service…read more I rearranged my entire week to make it to my annual dental appointment at Audubon, only to arrive and find out I was being seen by a completely new dentist instead of the dentist I've been seeing for the past three years. No explanation, no heads-up -- just a surprise change when I walked in. The new dentist recommended a deep cleaning, which apparently requires insurance approval. Fine. But instead of offering me a reasonable alternative, I was basically told to wait until someone calls me back once the insurance situation is figured out. I explained that I was more than willing to have a regular cleaning today and begin the process for a deep cleaning in another six months. My teeth needed to be cleaned, I had already taken time out of my schedule to be there, and I was sitting right there in the chair. Yet I was told they couldn't -- or preferred not to -- perform a regular cleaning. So I walked out with my time wasted, my appointment essentially accomplishing nothing, and absolutely no resolution. And I have to ask: WHO decided to switch my dentist without notifying me? After three years of seeing the same dentist, I should not have to walk into my appointment and discover that I'm being treated by someone new -- especially when the entire experience felt like I was being used as a training opportunity. The lack of communication, flexibility, and basic customer service today was incredibly frustrating. I understand that insurance approvals and treatment recommendations are part of the process. What I don't understand is why a paying patient who has already taken the time to come in cannot be given a reasonable option to receive the routine cleaning they came in for. I left extremely disappointed and honestly questioning why I've been a patient here for the past three years. Audubon -- DO BETTER. Only then was I told that there was a $145.00 "one time single use instrument" office charge that isn't submitted to the insurance company and is "an office charge for instruments used during the procedure". Sounds like something that should be included in the cost of a procedure since these instruments are needed to perform the procedure. As if dealing with insurance companies isn't bad enough, I shouldn't have to worry about my doctor charging extras to get more money out of me.
