We hired Encore twice, and the experiences were very different. Last year, they staged our main home and did a phenomenal job. Vanessa completely transformed the house. It was a larger 4b4b home, and the staging felt polished, upscale, and thoughtfully done. The palette was neutral, the design felt modern and appealing, and every nook and corner was staged with care, including the outdoor areas. We were genuinely wowed when we walked in after staging. Vanessa also communicated well, walked us through her ideas, asked about our preferences, and made us feel involved in the process. That experience is exactly why we hired Encore again. This year, we hired them for a much smaller 2b2b home, where using the space thoughtfully was even more important. Unfortunately, the second experience was disappointing. The staging style was very different from what we expected. I assumed it would be similar to the first home, with neutral tones and a modern look, and I should have confirmed that more clearly upfront. Instead, the design leaned more mid-century modern, with bolder pieces and layout choices that did not work well for the space. In several areas, it felt less like the home was being thoughtfully staged and more like furniture was being placed based on what they had available. Even the lighting was inconsistent throughout the house, with some warm/yellow bulbs and some cool/white ones. I had to specifically ask for that to be fixed. Communication was also poor the second time. Responses were often delayed, and sometimes we got no response at all, which made the whole process frustrating. The pricing process also left a bad impression. We were initially given one estimate, but before signing, the amount increased by a few hundred dollars. When I asked about it, I was told the earlier number was part of a range, but I distinctly remember it being presented as a specific number. To make matters worse, the original estimate they had shared through a link was redacted, so I had no way to verify it. One room especially highlighted the problem. As shown in the attached photo, they staged it with two beds placed perpendicular to each other, which made the layout feel awkward and did not use the room well. In a smaller room like this, they could have simply set it up as a bedroom with a small work area. We raised this within the 48-hour change window mentioned in the contract, but were told they would only swap two small furniture pieces in a different part of the house, and that anything more would require a 35% fee, almost $2,000. We also asked to see replacement options in advance and were told they would not share photos because of policy. At one point, I even offered to dismantle one of the beds myself and leave it in the garage so we could avoid labor and truck charges and place our own desk and chair in the room, but that was also refused. The whole process felt much more rigid than expected. What makes this especially disappointing is that I know from experience that Encore is capable of excellent work. They absolutely delivered on our first house. But the second time, the quality felt inconsistent, the communication was poor, and the overall experience fell well below expectations. read more

I reached out to Vanessa after checking yelp reviews a couple of months ago because we thought we needed professional staging in order to list our home for sale and she seemed to be perfect! Vanessa was prompt in communication, she reached out right away, walked us through the process and scheduled a free consultation. Vanessa came over, took a look at each room and it's existing furniture, wall art and decor and basically said what to keep, what to move and what more to buy. She methodically explored our home and spent a good amount of time telling us exactly how to showcase in the home (wall art in the bathroom, how to set up the beds and pointers that we would have never thought of on our own). She was super honest and said "it's better that you spend a few hundred dollars and buy more wall art that you can keep and use for showcasing rather than hire my services because you don't really need me!" We were at a loss for words because it is so hard and rare to come across genuine and honest people like Vanessa in today's world and especially in the home buying/selling business. I think this review is long overdue and will cover a couple of properties. First met Vanessa 3-4 years ago when I was selling my townhome in San Jose. Wanted to find someone who could provide a modern, clean style that would really accentuate our home in photos. Vanessa more than delivered. She is easy to work with, comes in full of positive energy, and really walks you through her thoughts on design. She was also super flexible and took into consideration my thoughts as well (minimal help provided). She is meticulous when it comes to taking photos and notes of your home to make sure she finds the best pieces to stage your home. I want to emphasize that she will find pieces to fit your home rather than use whatever may be left in inventory. Fast forward to today, we are getting ready to sell our home again. Unfortunately timing did not work out for us to work with Vanessa this time around, but in the consult she brought the same energy, attention to detail, and focus on client needs that I experienced many years ago. From the beginning, Vanessa was extremely personable and noted our existing decorations and incorporated the quirky paintings we had, like individual paintings of 3 anthropomorphized cats. If only every business ran like this. I was confused about pricing ahead of time, I wanted to know if I should find my checkbook or run to the ATM and her response was simply "I'll bill you once I know what we're in for, this is a free consultation." Those aren't her words exactly, but something like that. Anyway, my wife and I have mostly new furniture, and my wife is always telling me what great taste she has. And she must. Because Vanessa basically said "remove that and this." She methodically explored my entire home, including the patio area, and spent 30 minutes telling us exactly how to showcase our home. In the end we just had to remove some odds and ends, and apparently, did not really need any staging. In other words, Vanessa concluded that she wouldn't have to do anything for us. Personally, I think driving to my house, spending 30 minutes and giving us details on how exactly to show our home deserves some payment. She said no. Refused taking any money from me. I thought I could suggest buying her and her associate lunch. Just lunch! She wouldn't have any of it. A deal's a deal I guess. In the end, Vanessa was very knowledgable, confident, punctual, and good lord, the price was right.
