iDesign did an amazing job staging my house. But their follow through when they removed the staging was abysmal. My house was newly painted in preparation for its sale and I expected to have to do simple cleanup when everything was removed. So when iDesign removed their furniture they left some nails in the wall where they hung pictures, there was a gash in a door frame (see picture), and there were hand print smudges everywhere. When they staged my house they were careful and wore gloves. You would think they would have the common sense to do the same when they removed their furniture. Hence this dismal review. There are many staging companies, I would suggest using another. read more

This review is long overdue. Melanie and her team worked a miracle on one of my listings last August. The market had recently shifted from a crazy sellers market to one that was much more balanced. There were 3 other active homes (similar characteristics) on the same street that wasn't getting any traction. The seller had priced his tenant occupied home for over market value against my advice, and it sat on the market for 2 weeks before the seller reluctantly dropping the price. Another 2 weeks passed without any offers and the seller became frustrated and downright hostile. He withdrew the listing, kicked out the tenants, and performed some minor cosmetic maintenance work. The seller gave me 2 weeks to sell the home at his minimum price or he would be forced to take the home off the market and rent it out again. That's when I brought in Melanie to help spruce up the place. Poor Melanie took some harsh criticism from the seller, but she handled him professionally. The seller rejected much of her ideas and was not being cooperative. After reasoning with him (and offering to pay for some materials myself), I got him to agree to be a bit more open-minded. I re-priced the home competitively and was able to bring him 8 offers at the deadline. The highest offer came in $35k more than his minimum price! It was amazing to see the instant transformation of a grumpy old man into something of a giggling schoolboy when the offers were presented. Melanie staged my house, which I recently sold. I'd say her staging of my house was better than the dozens of staged houses I saw as I was looking for one to buy and move into. Perhaps you've seen pictures of staged houses that look impossibly nice -- not safe and boring, but interesting yet understated, somehow managing to still be a bit extravagant, yet safe enough for the general appeal needed for staging. That was the result, and the cost was not at all exorbitant. The initial consultation resulted in a list of suggested changes and fixes, with Melanie doing the most difficult part: picking the colors. Due to other complications with the whole buying/selling process, there ended up being a full year between initial consultation and actual staging. I had used enough of Melanie's time and expertise to merit a consultation charge if I didn't move forward with staging, and she let that ride for a full year until the timing was right for me. We were referred to Melanie by our real estate agent. Given we had a tight timeline to get the house staged. Melanie was able to accommodate us and came stage the house quickly. Her price is reasonable. However, our house didn't get sold when it was staged and we decided to pull the house off-market and relisted later on. One comment we received from buyers a lot was about the limited space in living room and we did feel like they overly staged the living room with some large or excessive furniture. We have a relatively small living room and a big square coffee table was placed in the middle of the room. When we relisted the house, it was empty and not staged. the living room and and dining room did look more spacious without the staged furniture. The relisting without staging went pending in only a few days. Of course staging is not the only factor affecting the sale of a house. All in all, good services but the staging done by iDesign didn't have all positive outcome. read more
