Encore 77 is a nice new tap house located off Highway 99, in a new strip mall by the hospital. The interior is modern with comfy colors and a cool, hand-painted mural. Seating is pub-style, featuring both tall and short tables. They have a great roll-up door, perfect for enjoying the weather on nice days. The menu is small but offers great options, mainly focusing on burgers and wings. They also have some tempting appetizers like crispy cheese curds and soft pretzel sticks with queso (cheese sauce), as well as different sandwich and salad choices. We ordered a 'Smash burger' deal, which came with a beer and 'sidewinders' (chunky, curled fries), which were tasty. The service overall was okay. However, the owner taking orders seemed tired or not very excited, perhaps even a bit lukewarm in their attitude, which detracted slightly from the experience. Regarding the food, the burger was not technically a 'smash burger'. The meat, although delicious, was not smashed and lacked crispy edges. Also, traditional smash burgers do not usually have a large slab of leaf lettuce on top. Overall, the burger was good, but basic. Footnote: I eat a ton of burgers and would consider myself a connoisseur of sorts. Soooo disappointed, first off...we should have walked out when we realized they are part of the prime taphouse group. The one is Sherwood is awful. Well this one was worse...yes the owner apologized but the quality and PORTIONS are horrible. Do not go to eat. Quite a shame...the locations are good but food WILL make you sick. The processed chicken was TOTALLY under cooked and that was the salad. It's a bowl, fill it up with lettuce. It is not rocket science and this group can not figure it out! Met Ryan (one of the two principals) on the way out--nice guy. The décor has a classic Oregon sports bar feel, with wood accents and fresh paint. Burgers were excellent, and we got lucky coming in between big games. We were there mainly for conversation and some good draft porter and IPA (Great Notion?), along with our cousin. The staff were personable and refreshingly unobtrusive, but very helpful when we asked for recommendations or details. Monday afternoon specials were very price-competitive, and the chips (spiral fries) were perfect. My cousin and sister are local and will definitely be back. It's the day after and I'm still thinking about the bone-in, K-pop wings I had last night. Paired with bleu cheese, they were that good. Best wings I've had in a while. Was excited about a new spot opening in the berg, and it did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was delicious. From the pretzel bites, the potstickers, the sidewinder fries with dragon dust, the smash burger, to the winter hettie IPA, nothing disappointed. Though I'll probably double up the smash burger next time and add bacon. (Didn't notice that when I ordered). Shane and his partner did a phenomenal job with everything so far. Plenty of tv's strategically placed throughout. Also, the establishment is much roomier than it looks from the outside. There are plenty of tables and booths if you don't want to sit at the bar. Even the barstools were comfy which is rare. Good vibes throughout, and will definitely be back often. read more

I always hesitate to leave a 5 star review for a place I've only been to a few times, but I'm going to go ahead and do it for Encore77. I can always revise downward, right? My wife and I really have enjoyed our visits here. The menu is simple - and thats a GOOD thing. That means they focus on doing a few things right instead of doing 50 things just so-so. We've had the burgers and the wings and both were great. Some of the wing rubs we've liked better than others but that's always going to be the case. We enjoy the large selection of local beverages both on tap and in cans. Service has always been very friendly. The place is on the small side, so I'm wondering how crowded it will get once word gets out. Otherwise it has a nice clean industrial feel to it, but somehow still warm and welcoming. You get menus and order at the bar, then you are given a number and they'll bring the food out to you. We definitely plan on visiting again. read more

Wife and I went in for the first time during happy hour today. Ordered a beer wife ordered wine I had drank about half my when the wife noticed that my glass was dirty with lipstick. Cool little spot, comfy and not overly loud. Good selection of beverages on tap, and wine is available too. Id love to see some kombucha on tap sometime too! We ordered boneless wings and tots. The wings were real meat and cooked well. Tasty. For sure get the salt and peppa if you like spicy. Tots were crispy and hot. But lacked a little excitement. I'm not sure if it's an option but would love to see the rubs available for the tots or some really good dipping sauces. Maybe I was just unaware of all the options. Menu is small, burgers, one salad, appetizers and wings. But that is fine, do what you do well. Games available for hanging out. Our first impression was good. We will be back. So happy to have a place like this within walking distance from my house. If you live in east Newberg you have to check them out. Food is very good for casual dining and, by Portland standards, very affordable. I have been constantly impressed by their normal menu (lunch and dinner) which also features interesting specials. The beer is always changing and overwhelmingly local. Even their "House" beer is a solid lager and the best deal around at $5 ($4 during happy hour). Great vibe, solid offerings , and friendly staff. Well I am a bit late on submitting this review since it has been a couple of weeks. I do not usually do many reviews; however, this restaurant was exceptional. We wandered in to find early happy hour prices in which we ordered a burger and fries for around $8 and a discount on pints. It is so hard to find a place where the food and the drinks are not overpriced these days. The food was great and the beer choices plenty. For those that do not drink beer, there were a few cider options. I was able to sample a few beers before choosing one. The restaurant, bathrooms, etc. were clean and the windows added much needed light on a dreary Oregon day. Ryan, one of the owners, was friendly and welcoming.
