I was so excited to try this place; after a couple days of having ZERO appetite, I suddenly craved Mediterranean. (I have ARFID - it makes eating difficult sometimes.‍) Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious this place was! Not that I thought otherwise, I just had never been here before today. There were three gals working up front at the time (that I saw,) and they were all very polite & helpful. I really liked this place. It has that Speakeasy vibe in that it's sort of hidden away. It feels like you're in a special place that is on a need to know basis. I had the salad that was excellent and flavorful. The presentation was very nice. The smash potatoes were so tasty and crispy with the feta. I enjoyed a great work lunch at Lemon & Olive in downtown Newberg with a few coworkers, and I'm so glad we decided to try it. This little spot is truly a hidden gem--tucked behind Valley Wine Merchants on College Street. It took us a minute to find, and for a second we thought we were in the wrong place, but once you step inside you're met with a quaint, cozy eatery serving up delicious Greek food. I ordered the Gyro Salad Bowl with chicken skewers, and I was very impressed. The portion was generous, the ingredients were incredibly fresh, and everything was seasoned perfectly. You could tell it was made right there on the spot. Someone in my group ordered the baba ghanoush, and it looked amazing--I'll definitely be getting that next time I'm in town. The menu is on the smaller side, but what they do offer is clearly well thought-out and very well executed. Prices were reasonable, and the staff was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. The only downside is that it can be a little tricky to find, and the space is quite small--so it's not ideal for large groups. But for a tasty, fresh, well-prepared meal in a charming setting, Lemon & Olive is absolutely worth a visit. I'd definitely return and try more of their menu! read more

Beyond grateful that we were able to come upon this place. We live in the town next to Newberg and we're looking for Mediterranean food. Realize that this place was exactly where one of our favorite pizza places used to be. The staff was phenomenal and the food was even better. Just keeps getting better and better. I think they have made it through all the pitfalls of a restaurant going from food cart to brick and mortar. They are am starting to expand the menu a little bit and often have specials of the day which allows the cook to expand on the offerings normally available. All of the food seems to have stepped up a level as they continue to grow into their space. There is indoor and out door covered seating. Both are good options. Inside can get full if you are a party of two or more. Not bad as there seems to always be the outside option in a warmed or airy open environment. They can close the gate when weather demands it and fire up the heaters. They also provide blankets for those feeling under dressed. It's a order at the counter and pick up when your pager beeps restaurant. You pick up your own silverware and water. They also ask you to bus the table. Makes me wonder what I am tipping for. Very friendly and knowledgeable at the counter. A definite good date night spot. Keep the large family at home or another destination. Four is really the enjoyable max. Great food. The first thing you need to know about Lemon and Olive is how to find it: it's tucked way at the back of a building with no obvious signage. You get there through the alley on the north side or through a parking lot on the south side. No parking in the alley or the lot, so street parking only. This is not at all clear on Yelp, which offers no map at all for this restaurant, or on L&O website. Okay, now for the good stuff: adorable "fast casual" setting (used to be a food truck and still maintains that vibe), enthusiastic staff and truly great food! Old style gyros sliced from the spit-roast, yummy smashed potatoes, Babaganoush is smooth and smokey, veggies are fresh and the lamb special was a hit. We will be back soon, and I hope this place thrives in spite of being a bit hard to find. read more

The food change my life in the best possible way. After taking a bite of the Mediterranean salad and perfectly juicy chicken, I knew I would have to come back to Oregon from California just for there food. It's the perfect balance of healthy and light mixed with hearty and delicious. Everything felt and was so home made, you could watch all the food being cooked and prepared right in front of you. The service was a little slow. However, the ambiance completely made up for the wait. Lemon and olive is the kind of restaurant that makes you happy to be waiting with its inviting environment, friendly servers, and delicious smells. 9.8/10 would recommend. We had the (open face) gyro and lamb stew. The gyro was very good with a side of olive oil garlic sautéed potatoes. SUPERB though the gyro was hard to negotiate on a plate. The lamb stew could greatly benefit by the addition of more vegetables (a la Moroccan style). Owner was very involved in all aspects of her business and her staff were very attentive. Located in a great little area of food trucks (6 food trucks total in this spot) with ample outdoor (but under a tent) seating. The service was fast as it took 15 minutes for the food to be ready. I had the lamb and beef salad, which was delicious. The dressing and tzatziki it was served with was really good. They give you plenty of meat on the salad in relation to the price you pay. Came for lunch today and it was phenomenal. First off, very friendly staff. We were greeted with a smile and just felt warm and welcoming. The food came out pretty quickly. I ordered the lamb salad. Save your time and money. Con's-the food was bland and the consistency of baby food-the Mezza platter was literally 4 tablespoons each, of 4 items and two small falafel. Smallest Mezza sampler we've ever seen. And it was $22!! We also got the baba ganoush plate, also inappropriately small. The hazelnut baklava was undercooked and like eating a soggy bread roll. The atmosphere was rustic and I liked it. The menu selection was great. We live in Newberg and would've come here weekly for date night, if we didn't leave starving after spending $80 for bad food. This is an easy 5 star review for me. This little spot is pretty new, but not new to Newberg. They used to have a food truck in our little food truck space but now they have this cool cozy space. This place is serving up some of the best Mediterranean food around. They have gyros, and salads, and of course hummus and a host of other plates and sides. One of my favorite things to eat are gyros, so of course I had to try that first. Along with it I tried their smashed potatoes with harissa mayo. I'll start with the smashed potatoes, they were so darn good! And the harissa mayo was like the best sauce I've had, and it pairs so well with the potatoes. The star of the show for me was the gyro! The lamb was so crispy around the edges yet perfectly tender. The veggies were crisp and the flatbread was warm and soft. I couldn't stop eating till it was gone! I will leave you with a pro tip... get extra harissa mayo to dip your gyro in! Get over here and sit in their small intimate dining room or in one of their outdoor tables and eat some great food! read more

I had the pleasure of being treated here from a friend and we both were glad to come here. The staff greeted us upon entering and answered any questions I had about the food. I got the lamb gyro combo and it was amazing! The fries and sauce really stood out. You can taste the various herbs in that sauce and combing it with the fries was a solid! The lamb gyro had a beautiful mix of flavor, nothing was overpowering. I have not had Mediterranean food in a long time and this reminded me of the amazing Mediterranean spots I would frequent back in Rancho Cucamonga. They had indoor and outdoor seating which is close to the farmers market. Once done eating you can enjoy a nice walk around the area. It's in a nice spot to sit and eat for sure. Uhhhhh-MAZING!!!! (See what I did there?..... Amazing!) We were on our way to our usual favorite, Rosemarino, when we realized it was European "siesta" time between 2-4pm and they were closed. So THANK YOU, Yelp and Google Maps for sending us on the mini-adventure through a random alley, around a corner and onto a small street facing a random rusted-out industrial building...... There was a small sign and a wide open door that gave us enough confidence to explore inside. And WOW! So glad we did. The owners were working behind the counter... super friendly people. Apparently they used to have a very popular food cart. They had an opportunity to take over this former rustic pizza place, and thank God they did! We ordered the chicken gyro (minus the onion), spanakopita, chocolate hazelnut baklava, and the feta zaatar potatoes. My favorite was the potatoes and the harrisa aoili - amazing flavors!
