Food (4/5 stars): A pretty good donut shop in Encinitas! Can't go wrong here if you're looking for some classic donuts Experience (5/5 stars): * Price: reasonable * Wait Time: no wait * Service: good and friendly * Parking: there's a parking lot * Ambiance: it's a simple, standard donut shop

By writing this review...i am also admitting publicly that i ate a donut. yes i did it... my husband started raving about how good the donuts are here..i said...go get one and i'll share it with you! well..i guess he didn't want to share...he got me an old fashioned glazed donut. damn that was good...i ate half (to stick to my plan)...but the other half got consumed the next morning. i like donuts...but it needs to be a while before the next one. i imagine my next donut will be from Encinitas donut house. thanks for the delicious calories.

I am always on the hunt for a good buttermilk bar, and this time around, I found me a great one doused a creamy milk chocolate for .90 something cents. Like I said, the buttermilk bar came heavily laden with rich milk chocolate which formed a nice crust over the doughnut: a crust that melted immediately it the warmth of my mouth which made for some great eating (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/encinitas-donut-house-encinitas?select=ZBZv53aOk9h7-Y2MB0NveA#jIssgCemAJBvjjP4Hf_GvA). The doughnut inside did not only taste great, but it was very moist and together with the chocolate, I was in bliss for the duration of the doughnut (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/encinitas-donut-house-encinitas?select=ZBZv53aOk9h7-Y2MB0NveA#o2cWREmPk-IPIjq_lRoBRg). A great buttermilk bar. They carry your typical doughnuts here, including some mean looking over sized doughnut holes. I did not see any cronuts, but it does not mean they do not make them. The little lady running the shop was very sweet and she made sure she selected a good size butter milk bar for me. They only take cash, but they have an ATM inside that charges fees. Very good doughnuts..

a variety of donuts

Good Service, Nice Selection, Sells coffee and other drinks. Usually not very busy. I would recommend it.

I love that they're a little smaller than standard donuts because it meant I could sample more flavors! The nitro cold brew was great, too. As for the donut flavors I tried... BRUNCH BROAD - 10/10 A perfect donut. I grabbed an extra one to go for my boyfriend (even though he's not a huge donut fan - I was sure he'd like it). He ate it the next day and loved it so much he took a picture of the packaging so we could come back, haha. The maple scent is strong and intoxicating! NANTUCKET - 9/10 Also amazing. The warm caramel and sea salt were absolutely delicious. CREAMSICLE - 8/10 A really unique and delicious donut! I'd order this one again for sure. CINNAMON SUGAR - 7/10 Classic and delicious. CHAI TOWN - 5/10 A little disappointed in this one. I got a lot of super sweet vanilla icing flavor and couldn't really taste the chai spices. ISLAND BROAD - 4/10 Not for me, unfortunately. I absolutely love lemon desserts but the lemon flavor tasted artificial :( Will absolutely be back next chance I get and can't wait to try more flavors!

Luckily, we found a parking spot nearby and we were able to explore around the area. This time, we were able to walk around to see what else was located nearby. While walking down Coast Highway, we saw some large advertisements for Broad Street Doughnuts. The photos were colorful and we were in the mood to try something new. We had never heard of Broad Street Doughnuts, so we were hoping that these would be delicious. Broad Street Doughnuts is located off of PCH, in the city of Encinitas. This is their only location on the west coast. They have 3 other locations in New Jersey, so it's great that they opened up a shop out here. They share a parking lot with other businesses, so parking is relatively easy. Their doughnuts are made to order. You will not get that stale, day old taste when you take your first bite. They are fried up after you place your order and then the toppings are applied. It beats staring are doughnuts through a case and ordering what may have been sitting there for hours on end. The menu is on the wall and it's totally visual. Each combo is displayed in a vivid photo. You can select from those or from the doughnuts that are near the register. The doughnuts at the front counter are not featured on the visual menu, so you may need to ask about their toppings/combos. I got a classic rainbow sprinkled doughnuts, along with a half glazed and half chocolate sprinkled doughnut. We also ordered a cotton candy doughnut that had what looked like dried out cotton candy. Delicious!!!! These doughnuts were light and fluffy. They were warm to the touch and incredibly fresh. They are a bit smaller in size, when compared to an average size doughnut. They seem prefect in size because you could walk the calories off while exploring around Encinitas. Broad Street Doughnuts was a pleasant surprise. Sometimes the visual representation isn't always an indicator of how good the product will be. In this case, the product lived up to the visual representation. We have passed by Broad Street Doughnuts many times, and finally had an opportunity to stop by. We were pleasantly surprised with both the product and how friendly the staff were with all of the customers. We will definitely be back when we are back in the area!

Entering: Never greeted let alone not acknowledged until it became barely. As someone who has worked all types of jobs, going as far back as when I was a teen myself - this is important. The two youngest ladies, at the register, were deep in their gossip that I doubt they noticed we walked in; only customers. I tried to get their attention but to no avail until I walked over and stood in front on them where their conversation had to be cut short. One of the young girls look a smidgen annoyed while the other was trying to rush to get my order. Quality of goods: I ordered a chocolate chip cookie, to share later with my girls and orders sometime raspberry for my teen son that he could enjoy later on break. The cookie was huge, yes, but nothing that beats the moist and chewy cookies I make myself at home, which I can't currently do since my kitchen is beinf remodeled. I asked my son on his bougie donut, later in the day, and he did the so-so hand and gave it an ok and dry. At end: we will stick to SK for service and quality.

We walked in before they were even open and she still welcomed us in. She gave my kids an entire tutorial on how donuts are made, showed them the process, and even let them see the register. I just honestly feel like this level of kindness and customer service barely exists anymore, and she was absolutely amazing. We got the mochi donut with soft serve combo. The biggest disappointment this place sells the idea of soft serve but it's just ice cream they run through this machine that breaks it down and makes it softer. Probably should've skipped on this but wasn't aware u til it was too late. The donut though was fantastic so wish I got more do those. All this being said, management needs to reexamine their employee policy on Sunday night. There was just one employee working everything, from boba, to soft serve to cashier. She handled it like an absolute boss but less than understanding customers could get angry at the wait that ensues when she's trying to do it all on her own. She deserves 10 stars.

Cinnamon roll - best Ive had out of all the ones I've had in CA and AZ. They do not cut corners and even use brown butter for their cinnamon sugar filling! Cruffins - fun to look at and fun to eat; can't go wrong with any of them! Cookies - white chocolate macadamia nut, chocolate chip, gluten-less chocolate cookies ... now these are cookies! Strawberry and cream croissant - croissant stuffed with whipped cream and slices of fresh strawberrh; do yourself a favor and just try this! The pastries are definitely on the higher-priced side and we weren't too hungry, so we opted for the strawberry croissant since it was the last one left. I was hoping to try their cinnamon roll, as it looked amazing and had a selection of flavors to pick from. The lady who helped us was friendly and packed the croissant for me, and we took it to go. The strawberry croissant had some vanilla cream along with strawberry slices in the center cut of the croissant. The cream was nice, light, and not overly sweet, which tasted great with the strawberry. The croissant was a little disappointing, as it wasn't flaky, very dense, and on the softer side. It still had a good buttery flavor but overall it was mid. As we continued eating, I ended up chewing on something plasticky, and I believe it might have been the front cut of a plastic piping bag. I'm glad it was a fairly small piece or else I probably would have swallowed it...It is disappointing that a big piece of plastic ended up in the cream where no one had caught it during the process of making it.
