Victoria is a cute little town and Chapter One is a lovely addition. There is a large section for younger readers and the adult section has many of the newest popular reads. They got rid of the seating (probably years ago, I hear theories on why) but it makes it less inviting. The staff do usually greet/ask if you need help, which is nice. They do always have a decent clearance/sale area with a bit of everything. Prices vary from store to store, I do find that this location has better pricing than some of the other locations. As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted by a gentleman (I wish I'd gotten his name!) who immediately made us feel welcome. He was friendly, clearly passionate about books, and incredibly knowledgeable. He asked if it was our first time visiting, and when we said yes, he surprised us with an amazing gesture....a free book, each, tailored to our favorite genres. We were blown away by the generosity and thoughtfulness. The store itself is a treasure. Books galore, neatly organized by genre, and the place is not super larger, but makes you just want to look at it all. They also have a great selection of puzzles throughout. It's obvious that this place is loved -- both by the people who work there and those who visit. I purchased one book and I felt the price was reasonable. I can't wait to come back to Red Wing and when I do, I think another stop at this charming bookstore is on the list. Highly recommend to any fellow book lovers!

There is no music, no audio books, no magazines, no cords, accessories, or earphones (those are in the shop next door), but they do have reading glasses and a few small stuffed animal toys for the kids. What you will find are hardcover and paperbacks in many genres in current or recent titles and a section of classics. It's not a big store, but doesn't need to be when you aren't selling trinkets. The children's and YA sections are well-stocked so good for them for promoting reading for all ages. If you either finished or forgot your book and have a long enough layover to get to the F terminal, this should be a stop. As much as I like the B&Ns of this world, I really appreciate a bookstore that doesn't need all the marketing extras. Simply Books is simply a bookstore. Good for them.

The store is deep and keeps going too the further you explore inward. An impressive selection of topics are available. It's an old bookstore but it's got contemporary finds. I was especially pleased with their LGBTQ+ and gender studies sections-- I could read forever and never get through all the books they had! Prices seem to be reliably a hair off MSRP, which is nice considering today's economy. It can be expensive to stay educated! I used to live uptown and now live pretty far away, but I still make the journey here. As other reviewers have noted, it's bigger than it looks. A grower not a show-er. A clown car of books. I have sold books here and also bought used books here, which I love, because that's the only way I can afford to read as much as I want. A library card only gets you so far when you're on a crazy long waitlist for a new release. So far, I've never not been able to find what I want here. Staff is very helpful. They have a nice little children's section too. I always try to give books as a gift to kids. And I love that they give free bookmarks at checkout, because I like to read multiple books at a time.
