Closing time! Cute decor in the dining area.
    Cathy H.

I went on a solo cruise through the city, well my dog and I. I wanted to grab a bite at someplace new but DEFINITELY sushi. Stopped by En Hakkore, this super cute Asian fusion restaurant is nestled on Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park. According to Google, they closed at 8pm and I literally arrived 10 minutes before closing. Nonetheless , the staff were extremely welcoming and open to going over the menu with me. I ordered 3 sushi tacos: Lava, Savory and Fire. All were absolutely delicious. They were a decent size so three was just the right amount for me. I'm definitely coming back.........BUT......and you know there's a BUT. Though we love the Wicker Park neighborhood....parking sucks! I highly suggest Uber if you can help it.

This was surprisingly the best meal I had on my first trip to Chicago, and it wasn't even recommended, my friend found it randomly on yelp. Both of our pokes were loaded with flavor. Very big portions and filling too. The only thing that was missing was crabmeat. This is the first place I've been to that added sweet potato to their poke, which I wasn't a big fan of. The tuna taco and paratha taco were super yummy too. I didn't realize the paratha taco would be so big, I sadly wasn't able to finish it after finishing my poke. The service was quick, you order at the counter before seating yourself. The inside of the restaurant was cute and had a lot of natural sunlight. I thought about this poke every day afterwards, I would love to come back here.

Whatever sauce they're using for the Bulgoki Fries, I will dream of it in my sleep. Very generous with the beef too! It's almost a meal in and of itself! As for the tacos, I tried the Taco - Savory, Taco - Salmon Wafu and Taco - Unagi Lover. So crispy and the fish was fresh and every bite was delicious. My only issue is the amount of sauce on it, too much that it overpowers the tacos! Next time I will definitely ask it on the side! Overall, there's a reason why this spot is a neighborhood favorite!

We shared: Friend Sushi Burrito - Tuna + Salmon marinade with yuzu soy, Crab salad, Cucumber, Avocado, Lettuce, Pickled radish, Egg, Soy glazed sauce Kimchi + Bulgogi Fries - Seasoned Fries with Kimchi and Bulgogi (Korean BBQ beef), Green Onions, Sesame seed, Spicy mayo sauce, Onion maple sauce Crunch & Fire - Spicy tuna, Shrimp tempura, Rice, Cucumber, Green onion, Sesame seed, Crab salad, Soy glazed sauce, Spicy mayo sauce, and Onion maple sauce Spider Man - Fried softshell crab, Rice, Crab salad, Cucumber, Green onion, Sesame seed, Soy glazed sauce, Spicy mayo sauce, and Onion maple sauce Fusion food done right which not often. Great combination of different flavors and textures. Quality of fish was good. I was particularly impressed with the fried ingredients. Excellent crunch on the taco shell, softshell crab, and shrimp. Bulgogi fries, tasty, needs more Bulgogi. No issues with service. Decent amount of seating for small to medium groups.

I went here for lunch with my friend. We both got the Crunch sushi burrito which we both said was really good. At first I thought it was small, but I realized it is very filling. It was kind of messy to eat, but I honestly preferred this over eating a sushi roll. The inside of the place was empty when we went, but it was well lit and looked squeaky clean. The workers were polite, and helped clean the space we were sitting at. Food came out quick as well.

This place is sooo good! We stopped by for a quick snack and opted for the sushi tacos, one savory with salmon and tuna, and two salmon wafus. The "taco shell" was a tempura-like fried seaweed and had crab, fresh poke, and sauce. Would definitely come back to try their other items but the sushi tacos were delicious. Ambiance and aesthetics of the restaurant were pretty and cute. Service was fast.

I've been coming to En Hakkore 2.0 for years. It's one of the few places that have not compromised their food quality over the years. I get the same thing each time. I love the crunch & fire tacos. I have tried their sushi burritos, but the crunch & fire tacos have a special place in my food heart. It's crispy and packed full of flavor. It's not too greasy, but it is messy. The crunchy tacos are best eaten fresh at the restaurant, don't travel well. Their burritos and bowls are fine for takeout. The space recently went through a remodel and it feels brighter and fresher.

We ordered from Uber Eats and it was prepped and delivered extremely fast. We were also impressed by how fresh it still was. We had: - Kimchi & Bulgoki Fries - Unagi Lover Taco - Savory Poke Bowl - Friend Burrito The portions were big, so we had some leftover fries. Our favorite was the taco, the shell and filling were flavorful. The fish in all of the dishes tasted very fresh, and I really liked the sweet sauce in the friend burrito. We will be ordering from here again!

Love their sushi burritos! The soft shell crab burrito is a must try. It has a lot of flavor and a good crunch. We also got the crunch burrito with eel and shrimp tempura, and it was pretty good as well. The service was very good. They keep the tables very clean, and they provide self serve water stations. The ambiance is very pretty and well kept. I would definitely come back here to sit and grab a bite again.

Very open, spacious and clean. We ordered take out so just went in for the food. The server had our food ready and was friendly. Plenty of options and some interesting takes on tacos and burritos. We tried the Crunch and Fire Taco which was really tasty and had a good texture. My main issue was that my bowl didn't have the sauce on the side - for me that's a deal breaker bc it was covered in dressing and I couldn't enjoy it. My husband liked his bowl and doesn't mind the dressing mixed.

DUDE. This place rocks. They're serving up the quality of food that you'd expect at a fancy sit-down Japanese joint all in the atmosphere of a fast-casual atmosphere. Like, I ordered my food and by the time I poured myself a glass of water it was being delivered to my table. I ordered the spicy tuna poke bowl and the bulgogi cheese fries. Both not only were beautiful and delicious, but they were like, $30 total. That's practically free in Wicker Park. All of the ingredients were SUPER fresh. The tuna was bangin. The sauces and black rice (it's just Korean purple rice but it was awesome) form a beautiful base and medley for the rest of the ingredients to shine. If you want a quick bite that's sure to wow you, En Hakkore 2.0 will surely deliver.

    Poke Bowl - Shrimp Tempura
    John S.

Good local Wicker Park spot for Asian fusion items. We got the shrimp tempura tacos and shrimp tempura poke bowl. We liked everything, and if you especially like things sauced up, this is your place. Price point is a tad higher than my other poke options.

    Amy D.

I ordered takeout from this location and my food arrived in great condition! Maybe get poke instead of the sushi burrito though. While it was decent, the burrito was smaller than expected and fell apart as I ate it, which made it a bit messy. It's a fun concept, but I think you're better off with something tried and true. If you're curious, it's still worth a try! -AT

The place was close to our hotel which was even better after exploring Chicago. When we go here we checked in and were asked to stand on the side and we will be seated. It did take awhile to get seated where other folks who didn't have reservations were getting seated before us. A hostess went to our kids menu on the table and then we waited some more. Finally a male host came and sat us. I think that was like a 15/20 wait. Our waitress was friendly and hospitable. She was cool to talk to and attentive to our needs this evening. We got the crispy rice wagyu and those were delicious. We also got the yuzo ribeye and black cod and those were really good. The kids loved the ribeye!!! I tried to get the lollipops but they sold out but I heard they are a great hit too. The noise level was very loud. It was so loud due to a party next to us who had a large gathering and were drinking heavily. Other parties left and the other side of the restaurant was still full with other folks but none around this loud group. Anyways - food wise and the waitress service was great. The restaurant wasn't busy at 7pm on Sunday. We ordered a few drinks, a few different dishes, and an entry from the kids' menu. We quickly received our drinks, which were delicious and exciting. A balanced drink containing tamarind? Come on! We then got our first dish, the Wagyu crispy rice. Amazing. Delicious. Then our sushi came out. Also great! Then Adobe fried rice with pork belly. Super satisfying! But then... a total stall. We hadn't yet received our edamame or our chicken entree. Our server asked if we wanted the check. At that point, our food had time to sit and no one was hungry. So our server asked if we were ready for the check. Sure. Our check arrived at the same time our chicken dish showed up. And still no edamame, which was an appetizer. We were also given another table's bill, which was totally different than ours and showed a credit for something and a zero balance. It was fixed, and we ended up paying our $50ish per person with the only adjustment being that we didn't pay for the edamame we never received. Obvious disconnect between the kitchen and service. But the food we did receive was exceptional. Drinks were novel and playful. But forgetting food and a weird service pace really diminished the overall elegance of Sunda. I feel like we drastically overpaid for the dining experience. We are on a family vacation, so instead of memories of a great meal we instead have a story of that messed up service and the weirdness that surrounded.

The Jiaozi were the first big letdown. The menu said they were beef short rib and bone marrow, but they didn't taste like that at all. The filling was just super mushy and the flavor was just weird. The manager and the food runner were nice when we mentioned it, but our actual server was a disaster. When we tried the Goat Noodles, all we could taste was cumin. It was so overwhelming that it covered up everything else. We couldn't even tell if there was actually any goat shoulder in there. When we told our waiter, she couldn't care less. She got totally defensive, wouldn't even listen to us, and just said, "Oh, I told you when you ordered that the dish is cumin forward" and walked away. It got worse when the bill came. She was holding on to the payment machine so hard and almost yanked it right out of my friend's hand. She was staring at it to see what we were tipping. It was so awkward and incredibly rude. The vibe is speakeasy-ish; the entrance is off the street in an alleyway but the interior is very nice, low light, and would be fun for a date night! The staff were attentive and very friendly. My friend got some shots, which were surprisingly good given they were kind of sweet, and I ordered the "mystic lamp" cocktail ($16) which was VERY memorable to me as someone that loves floral drinks -- it was very floral, slightly fruity, and had a lovely chunk of lychee it came with which was delicious! The drink was decent sized too; I've been charged a lot more for much less drink at other speakeasies (those of which I don't plan to visit again any time soon haha). In my opinion, this spot has the perfect combo of great drinks, nice ambiance, cool speakeasy-vibes, but also cheerfulness given the tiki-theme inside. I was excited for the experience having heard how busy it gets, blah blah. These positive reviewers need to seek out other tiki bars. After you negotiate the alley entrance and go down dangerously dark stairs, you are met with crazy boring decor. I kept thinking there had to be more right? The whole point of a tiki bar is to strike a mood, but hanging a very few polynesian masks on the wall, putting up a grass facade over the bar and dressing the servers in vaguely polynesian outfits is sad. I've seen private tiki bars at people's homes that are more exciting. Add to this a comparably boring music selection played far too loud over boomy lo-fi speakers and you'll wonder what's going on here. So what about the food and drink? Completely uninspired for anyone who's had more than a mai tai before in their life. About a dozen extremely common drink choices is all you get!! No specials, that's it. When I asked if this was the whole cocktail menu, the server said it was but they have a full bar so you can get anything you want. Well, I could get that service at just about any bar in the world, so big deal. Maybe it would be better if you sat at the bar and chatted up the bartender. One could also go taste their rum selections and other cocktails in the Bamboo Room, but I hate that kind of elitist nonsense. That's never been what tiki bars were about. The drinks we sampled were okay at best. Even the namesake 3 Dots and A Dash cocktail was lackluster and used cheap cherries for the dots instead of classic Luxardos. (If you know, you know) The appetizers were okay, but way overpriced. 5 tiny spring rolls for $18. Come on guys, enough already. I'd rather go to the bar at the Polynesian Hotel at Disney than return here. This place is a hard pass.

(They are not served after 7 p.m.) Mott street has a small indoor space and a large outdoor space and every seat/table was occupied. It was an eclectic crowd and the vibe was young and hip. We ordered fewer plates than was recommended by our waiter and we were all plenty full by the end of our meal and still had leftovers. For six of us, we ordered three burgers (one couple shared theirs), the jackfruit bulgogi entree, two orders of garlic rice, crispy chili cauliflower, everything shrimp noodles, the imperial rolls and budino to be shared for dessert. What can I say about those burgers? Wow! Just wow. I had an egg on mine and when you pressed on the bun, the yoke of the egg would drip down. It was a messy burger to eat but with, hoisin aioli, pickled jalapeño, dill pickles, miso butter onions, american cheese and sweet potato shoestrings on the side, it was beyond delicious. Other favorites were the crispy chili cauliflower and the everything shrimp noodles. Nice, simple presentation of all the food and everything had great flavor. We were a little underwhelmed with the budino, but we loved everything else. The spacing of the food coming out wasn't always great. (We ordered two garlic rice dishes and one came early on and one very late in the meal), and the jackfruit entree came way after everything else, but it still would never deter me from coming back. I'm not sure why there aren't more Hawaiian restaurants around Chicagoland because I find Hawaiian…read morecuisine to be delicious. Even if we don't consider its rarity, Da Local Boy is a winner in every category. The prices are very fair for the enormous portion sizes, the decor is fun and appropriate, the service is friendly, and food is phenomenal both in flavors and textures. The only possible criticisms are that the space is a bit small for how popular this spot gets, and the parking in the area can be a bit limited around popular meal times. The food here shines, making it worth a special trip -- both again for the rarity but also the quality. For me, the poke nachos are a must order item, just the perfect mix of large chunks of tuna with super crispy wontons, fresh avocado, and a good helping of sauce. Amongst friends, we've agreed that this is a must order item. The huli huli chicken is also unreal in flavor and texture. Besides being marinated and sauced well, the chicken is melt in your mouth tender while simultaneously having a delicious crisp skin. Think brick chicken, but with more flavor and a much better price. The rice and macaroni salad that accompany this are also well done -- and feel more like a core part of the meal rather than an afterthought. The grilled pork is pretty good as well, though I kind of wish it wasn't sliced as thin, as certain pieces felt a bit dry. The spam musubi with a light touch of furikake also provided a flavorful, fun dish to accompany the other delicious items I tried. Overall, delicious and consistently surprises me with the quality of the execution and bold flavor combinations. This is on my top places to visit in the area and has never disappointed.

The vibe is also awesome with a great reggae playlist and welcoming staff. Literally every single bite was so good but my favorites had to be the short ribs, chicken katsu, and poke. These mac salad was a little sweet but it definitely worked well especially with the heavier mains of the plate. Poke was really fresh btw and def had my eye on the poke nachos so gotta go back! Def a must try for anyone craving real Hawaiian food in Chicago!
