I made an appointment for a eye exam and new glasses. When I arrived they said there was no appointment made. I used a website that they texted me. I recall verification from that website. There were three people working the front desk. No one even offered to see if they could fit me in. I drove an hour for this appointment. The employees did nothing to make things work. Wow! How rude! Tall guy is very pushy puhy pushy. And seems to go to Wegmans a lot for food. Honetly He kept harassing me every pair of glasses I picked up . "You ready yet"? I have been going to Empire Visionworks for years. The staff used to be very friendly & helpful. That is no longer the case based on recent interactions. For example, today I stopped in at 10am to have my glasses adjusted that I purchased there. Even though they opened at 9am, I was informed that the person who does that would not be in until 10:30. Even though you're open, you don't have someone to perform a minor adjustment? Great customer service!! I said I'd return shortly. I came back at 11am & was told it would be at least an hour wait. I absolutely love the doctor at Visionworks in Brockport, NY. The staff were fantastic too. I noticed a couple of the other reviewers remarked on the staff being rude. That wasn't my experience at all. It's really easy to mistake a flatter affect for disinterest or even hostility. The masks make it even harder to convey emotion. Then we got a tele doctor after I said I only wanted an in doctor.. I would never go back here .. The eye exam and glasses experience was both professional and friendly. Even though my insurance is not covered at most locations, I was more than happy to pay cash for the exam & glasses! LOCALS BEWARE!! I stopped in Empire Visionworks in Brockport today, after their store was recommended to me by several people, including my mother, for ease of location. I'm a busy mother who works full time, and finding the right time to bring my kids in to the store can be challenging. Even more challenging when I have to take off work to pick out glasses at my children's eye doctor's office, in Greece (which is closed before I get out of work). I was excited to bring my kids in to look at glasses. It should be a fun experience for them, and I'm lucky if they can find ones that they like and want to wear. After walking in the store we approached the front desk where five or six women were standing behind the counter, and our experience took a sharp turn. The older blond with glasses who spoke to me was incredibly rude, and none of the women were welcoming, friendly or smiled. I had new prescriptions for both of my kids, but I knew only one of them would be covered by my insurance at this time, as per their eye doctor office in Greece. Mind you, I work in health care and deal with insurances daily, and simply wanted to find out if their store accepted our insurance (online it says to check with the location), and if we found a pair of glasses we liked. Our family is very new to glasses. We all got our first pairs about three years ago. My questions were met with curt replies. First, telling me they don't know if it'll be covered (I've already heard otherwise so I wasn't concerned and was OK waiting until Monday when they'd be able to check and get on the same page too). I had to ASK if we could still LOOK at their glasses since the woman was telling me they couldn't help me until Monday. I then asked if they had any deals going on, since I saw their deals online and there was a HUGE banner above them saying "buy one get one free." She told me no! So I then asked again, and mentioned the banner, telling her I'd like to also look for glasses for myself and my daughter (who has a new prescription that won't be covered by insurance at this time). The lady seemed frustrated that I was asking about buying glasses without insurance coverage, and I made it clear several times that my daughter also has a new prescription but I was told she wouldn't be covered by insurance. So trying to grab a deal like the one they were advertising on their sign didn't seem so unreasonable to ask. Then, I asked about a pair for myself: if they would still take my prescription if it expired within the last year. The lady was very sharp with me and told me it was illegal (she made me feel like she thought I was a criminal for asking!), and that it would be like a pharmacist giving a person medication without a current script from their doctor. I wasn't asking about drugs! I was asking about glasses! We're a new glasses family. I never grew up with glasses like my children have. I work in health care and thought my questions would be answered in a caring way -- this is still patient care in a vision center, isn't it? And if I don't understand that eye glasses can't be purchased past an expired prescription (even though my glasses still work perfectly fine for me), all I needed was a KIND explanation that I would first need a new Rx before I could buy new glasses. By the other reviews it seems like an overall personality flaw at this store. But it felt like she had a problem with me as soon as we walked in the door and I couldn't really figure out why? Until reading the other reviews I thought maybe it was because I walked in on a Saturday morning in sweats and a beanie cap with my kids? Today was a very busy morning for us with an early ballet class, and I didn't have time to dress to the nines to impress the staff there. I'm giving a two star review because the gentleman who came out to assist us briefly was very friendly and welcoming, even when I no longer wore the smile or excitement that I walked in with. It made it challenging to look at him, or to communicate our needs because it felt like the staff didn't care to listen or really want to help. Really sad for potential clients who are interested in your location. The distance and time off work might be worth it for anyone in a similar situation who wants quality care and to not leave feeling like the staff thinks you're a criminal for simply asking about buying a new pair of glasses. Review or not, I don't expect to be treated any better next week by those ladies if they get back to me with the confirmation from my insurance. But wouldn't it be nice if they took the hint and tried to provide Brockport with better customer care? read more

I was in Brockport for only a week and I lost my glasses in the lake! I walked in without an appointment or a prescription and in desperate need of some glasses as I cannot drive or even see clearly (beyond a foot). Ethan was so helpful, beyond anything I could have hoped for, and the store was running a promotion. An hour later I had, not one but two, brand new pairs of glasses for about $100. My husband never received a phone call or text that his lens's were ready. After 2 weeks of waiting he called them and the lens's were there. We go that same day to have them put in his frames and I asked the employee "What was the date they came in?" she looked at the paper that were with the lens's and says, "I don't know, it doesn't say." I replied with "We were never notified they were in, we were told we would receive a call or text." Her answer to me was we close at 4:00 today (which we already knew) and it was 2:45 when we got there. The customer service is also very poor there. They are very rude and treat you like you are taking up their time. Do yourself a favor and go some place else. It's not worth the aggravation. Most rude women I have ever meet! Do not recommend it at all the women are so rude and unfriendly not very sociable very nasty and unwelcoming. They treat you like you are a wallet. I guess more interested in your money?! No smiles and on top of that the longest wait was 40 MINUTES which is unreal the women sit around and care more about the people on the phone. The worst eye care experience of my life. By far. The staff was not only rude, but condescending. Treated me like my wallet, not a person. Told me my insurance would cover my visit, and them at the end they charged me. I asked why, they got defensive and demanded payment and made it sound like they were going to call the police. I asked for them to work with my insurance company (which they accept) and they refused. Dismissive of everything I said, and I had never been there before... This was not just one staff member; I had four employees gang up on me and bully me. After I paid they would not give me my prescription paperwork, despite the fact I paid for it. I had to call my insurance and report them to a rep. This shocked the rep, who called then directly to try and get me reimbursed because my insurance would cover the service. They flat out refused, and then said they would give me my glasses and script if the insurance said they would pay for the exam and the glasses. However, I already laid. The rep was put off by this, because this means they were trying to get paid twice. Had a lot of hope for this place because the one back in my hometown is great. Do not go here. Do yourself a favor and pay a bit more and go to a more professional eye care provider in the Rochester area. read more
