Never--not once--have I sent one straight to the trash without at least a glance. And if I'm being honest, it's rarely just a glance. I've lingered. I've admired. I've added frames to my cart only to abandon them at the last minute. I suppose I have commitment issues. Then one day, while on vacation in Orlando, Florida, I saw you. Really you. A physical location. A storefront. A tangible, brick-and-mortar dream. I could hardly believe my eyes (which, in fairness, were working with subpar equipment at the time). I even picked out a pair of frames while I was there, but something told me... not yet. Our story needed more tension. To be honest, much like that prince who keeps emailing me from Africa, I wasn't entirely sure you existed outside the interwebs. But I walked through your glass doors, met the loveliest associate, and discovered there was a location near my hometown. I gasped. Audibly. When I returned home, I looked you up and found you in Victor, NY. I made a date. You accepted. I picked out an outfit. (Emotionally, if not physically.) And oh... what a date. You were punctual. Attentive. And the way you looked into my eyes and saw me--I mean you really saw me. (Swoon.) My eye exam was smooth, professional, and dare I say... enjoyable? I didn't know that was an option. Now let's talk about Riley. Riley handled my pre-testing, guided me through the process, and managed the absolute chaos of a packed store with grace. Apparently, it was unusually busy that day--but you would never have known it by how smoothly everything ran. She made sure I didn't have to wait long after my exam, got all my measurements taken, and helped me finalize my order like the calm in the storm. Since I had already chosen my frames in Orlando (because of course I had--we love a slow-burn romance), this visit was all about making it official. Riley made that part effortless. And then... the gifts arrived. A box. For me. From you. Inside? Not flowers--no, no. Not the tired, predictable bouquet that wilts in three days. No. You sent glasses. Beautiful, perfect glasses. And sunglasses, too. Functional. Flattering. Long-lasting. Honestly, the kind of gift that says, "I see a future here." They are perfect. Truly. After reading another review, we didn't check with the store but called our insurance company only to be told they were considered an out of area provider. You can always stop in to have your glasses tightened or cleaned while shopping at the mall. No pressure sales. Feel free to try on as many frames as you want - you can even select sunglass frames to have clear lenses put in.

I've dealt with an organization who refused to do an eye exam; but instead had no problem using my insurance and charging me for the glasses and contacts in lieu of the eye exam, because my current exam was still valid. They literally refused the eye exam I was there on that day for. So, when I needed to order new contacts they refused because they didn't do the contact fitting. I pointed out that them that you didn't do it in March, but had no issue with taking my money then and give them to me. I have spoken to 5 different representatives (all who gave me contradicting information, two with promises to make an exception only for that to be rescinded), and left two messages with the manager who never returned by call until almost 4 weeks later stating her voice mail was broken (I seriously don't believe it). I just don't care for an establishment who does business this way; and when they make an error refuse to work on a solution.

When I went to pick out my glasses, I was helped fairly quickly by a 'jittery' guy (didn't catch his name, but he couldn't sit still), who was helpful and thourough. He took all the measurements, told me it would be 7-10 days until they were ready, and I paid my co-pay. A week later, I got a call telling me that they were ready. I set aside an hour the next day, and went down to get them fitted. Boy, what a difference a week makes! Wheras the day I went to pick out my lenses I got good, fast service, the day I went to get fitted was a different story. I waited 10 minutes just to get through the receptionist, then waited another 45 minutes to get fitted. The glasses were done correctly, but I actually had to demand the side shields that were the whole reason for buying safety frames in the first place. All in all, I would have to say that I got what I paid for, but considering how little I paid, that's not really much of a compliment. They seem to be able to make lenses correctly now, but customer service is highly variable. I would suggest that you budget at LEAST 90 minutes for each trip there. Selection is merely good, nothing special. If it weren't for the special my company gives, I probably wouldn't bother using them. At least they've improved in the last 3 years. ***Update*** I went back for a second fitting the other day (the ear-holds weren't quite right from the first fitting-that's what happens when you rush it), and got better service then. I was also trying to figure out just how much lenses in my new prescription would be for my everyday glasses, and all I get is a vague answer of "about $90-something". Not quite sure why they can't just come out and give me a bona-fide price. I'll be checking to see if Wal-Mart optical can give me a better deal. At least they will quote me a final price. BTW, I got a call today from them asking if everything was OK with them. So, at least they are trying (at least a bit). I just wish they would get more people to serve customers in the store.
