Update 10/9/25: The office manager and lab manager contacted me, and quickly ordered new lenses for me. Those lenses were put in today, and my glasses are great. I'm very happy my issue was resolved, however it should have been addressed after my 1st contact with the office nearly a month ago. This business has real potential ; great location, and some solid members of their staff... but to realize their potential, and best serve their customers they will need to hire more opticians, and address some training/process/consistency gaps within their staff. --- original review. from end of September 2025: Not enough help - I have been calling for a month to speak to an optician - they are so short staffed that no one ever calls me back. I work, and live 40 minutes away and I simply need someone to order me new lenses as I scratched one. We were visiting family in Penfield and my teen daughter realized she had not packed her contacts. We obtained her prescription from Pearle Vision in Chicago but none of the local offices had her lenses. Another big box chain was completely disinterested in helping a non-customer with a pack of trial lenses. Eyesite staff told us they did have what we needed and gave us trial lenses at no cost. I chose Eyesite for my annual exam because it was a preferred provider for my VSP vision insurance. I was quite pleased with the facility. It's a nice layout with complimentary drinks while you wait. The staff is very friendly and professional and prices were very reasonable. The doctor was very knowledgeable and talked to me about how my pregnancy would affect my vision. I tried on a few pair of glasses and ordered a pair, which arrived even earlier than anticipated, which was just in time for the holidays. To top off my satisfaction, I recently stopped by because one of my lenses popped out of my glasses frame. I was promptly helped and the man even kindly added in reinforcement to prevent my lenses from moving and from it happening again. All of this was done free of charge. We love Eyesite! Dr. Peter's is the best! My 5 year old daughter started going here a year ago after our Pediatrician referred us to an Ophthalmologist that specialized in Pediatrics. We made an appointment and I was so impressed by his ability to talk to kids and make it so that they're comfortable and they can understand him. He is thorough and explains everything he is doing. The staff is professional and the facilities are up to date, clean, and very modern. The technology is amazing, everything in the facility is past anything I've seen as far as technology goes! The facilities are also very accommodating. There is a section for little kids to play and read while we wait. They have a wide selection of frames for kids and adults. I would definitely recommend Eyesite in Penfield. We will be lifetime patients. read more

This is the second time we got poor service by the front desk. Today we signed in to see someone to ask a question about my daughters frames. After waiting about 30 minutes I went up to the front desk and asked where we were in line because it had been more than 30 minute. She said we were second in line. As I was asking a mom and son walked in and checked in. Funny thing they were called next and not us. I went to the front desk and said we were leaving since it had been 40 minutes and people walking in were being seen before us. I was told they have no control on who gets called back. I asked why is there a list if they are not going to go off it. And there was no comment. I asked to speak to someone in charge and they said there wasn't anyone here. read more

Terrible service, witnessed the staff fight in front of myself and boyfriend. Was unable to get into an exam room due to the fight and a staff member had me sit right in the middle of the women yelling at each other in an exam room. While with the doctor, I told her that I wanted a certain brand of contacts, and the doctor was pushy about getting me to try another brand. She claimed they did not sell the ones I wanted. I just needed a prescription for these contacts to order online, since it's much cheaper. After finally listening to my request, the doctor went into the side room which I heard her say "Nope, she's not switching!" And was laughing with another coworker with the exam door room open. Come to find out, they did sell the brand I wanted, but I refuse to buy now from Eyesite. Out of it all, the receptionist up front (did not get her name) that checked me in and out was the only pleasant person I encountered on my visit. I will not be coming back. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. After being told my glasses would be ready in 1.5 weeks, I called for a status and was told the frames weren't in but that they would call me back the next day with an update. After 3 days and no call back, I called again and was given the same story. At this point I asked for the person managing the store and she told me that the lab guy was getting a status and she would call me right back. 3 hours later I called her back to be informed that the lens were on back order until September, in all colors but yes, they had still let me order that and never let me know. She did say in the most condescending, bitchy tone that they didn't lie to me and that she had the rep calling to see if they could find the frames. I asked to just cancel the order so I could go back the Reed Eye associates, so sad I tried this place, I was told I would still have to pay for the lens! I could also come in and pick out frames I don't want for the lens. Buyer beware, this is a scam place and the management is disgusting! read more

I have to reverse this review. I was treated poorly to say the least. 1) After selecting glasses I told the person that since I would not be around for weeks, no hurry getting it filled. She got up, left, and a few minutes later came back and said "I looked up your record, since you are not a new customer we will do you a favor and get it filled right away". That was kind of insulting, they have to "look me up" to tell if they should fill my scrip, and they are doing me a favor by doing what I asked them not to do. I had been going there about 20 years, btw. 2) The bifocals do not work. I went back 3 times to try to get ones that do work to no avail. I said that in order to work on a computer I needed to pick up the computer and hold it inches from my face. Dr Verrone said "I can live with that". The way I live with it is I have been using a phone almost exclusively rather than a PC. My old pair were better, but sadly they are broken. 3) Possibly because I have to take my glasses off many times a day the frames split. Rather then getting a replacement overnighted they put my lenses in a cheesy, ugly cheap frame. 4) If after all this you go there, avoid the tall optician I'll call Harry. Harry makes snide remarks about you if you are not an affluent looking male. There are still some good people there, the other opticians are outstanding but I was not able to avoid Harry. The move to a new building happened about when the customer service hit the skids, coincidence?. You can't even shop for frames easily now. original glowing review .............................. I cannot imagine a single thing that this place does not excel at. Even the prices are well and truly reasonable. The staff, both medical and optical, are attentive and efficient and but never rush you, very professional. I'm never left waiting for more than a few minutes. Come to think of it, I once got a same day appointment when I had a concern that turned out to be nothing big. A few years ago I tried the alternative of using an online optician. Sure enough I ended up with the lightest boat anchor on record. Went back to these guys for the correct glasses. Cost more but not much more, and they lasted me for two and a half years. read more

I sat a table outside on a warm summer day with a pitcher of deep red sangria in the middle of the table and one my best friends sitting across form me. We sat outside of a trendy new wine bar in the South Wedge area of Rochester. This place is great, but that wasn't what I loved about the night. You see, I don't have great eye sight and I have been wearing contacts ever since I can remember. I apparently have an astigmatism in my left eye and I never found an eye Doctor that would take the time to prescribe me a great contact lens. Every lens I wore, up until that night, felt like I was dragging a rake over my eye and left my eyes as red as a mistletoe! As I sat talking to my friend, I was complaining about how bad my eyes burned. Enter man with three friends who sits next to us. Since I am always busy watching people around me and "over hearing" their conversation, I heard one of his friends say, "Hey man, I need some new lenses when can I come in?" I quickly turned my head and started listening more intently to the conversation. Apparently, I was sitting next to an eye doctor! I tapped on his shoulder and said, "excuse me, are you an eye doctor?" Before he could even say yes, I had my finger pointing to my eyes, while they were wide open and started saying "can you help me with my contact lens, they are killing my eyes!" He started laughing and gave me his business card. The following day I scheduled my appointment and went in a few weeks later for my eye exam. Eyesite, at the time was not particularly close to my house, but I needed to give it a go since every where else didn't work. I walked into the store, and saw all the amazing glasses lining the walls. I gave my name, sat in the waiting are and then shortly was called into the room where they did the preliminary testing on your eyes. After I freaked out 4 times during the air puff test, I went back outside and waiting to see the Doctor. A few short mins later I was called in by Dr. Peters and he started looking at my eyes after I told him my problem. All of a sudden he sat back and said "I remember you!" Yes it was true, I found the most amazing eye doctor out one night, while ease dropping on his conversation with his friends. Right away he knew what type of lenses to give me and changed my brand. I couldn't believe how amazing my eyes felt. I thought since my eyes always felt like they were burning, that was what it would be like for the rest of my life! Dr. Peters and Eyesite is the best eye doctor office I have ever been too. All the staff is great, their glasses options are trendy and sophisticated and they have everything type of contact lenses you can think of! Dr. Peters is amazing and listens to what you have to say and knows right away what to do to fix the problem. What I liked the most is when he actually told me why the lenses I was wearing, weren't working and why the news lenses he gave me were going to be better. Their equipment is outdated, optomotrist so new and inexperienced she could not tell if i had a contact in my eye with a scope and light. I tried on a few different contacts with the prescription she gave me and was not seeing 20/20. She gave me a bad prescription. I had to go somewhere else and redo my eye exam where they gave me the correct prescription and now I can see 20/20. Would not recommend this place to anyone! read more

After researching vision places in the area, Yelp steered me to Eyesite. I really thought that this place may be similar to all the other chain places in the area (although I don't know if this is a chain). I figured they would try and sell me on everything they had and sway me to have a handful of tests that I didn't need (can you tell I've had some bad experiences?). Upon entering it seemed like the typical eye place. Glasses for days. I checked in a was called back with 10-15 mins for the pre-doctor screen. Almost as soon as I sat down the doctor called me back. Very nice. Treated me like a person instead of a number or a paycheck. The opticians are just as great. Pam was mine and let me just say that it was great having a woman there for her opinions and advice! I think I would still be there staring at the walls of glasses if it wasn't for her. She even brought me out of 2003 and into some new frames! Totally not anything I would have picked out on my own, but I dig 'em. I definitely recommend this place if you need a place with evening and weekend hours, want someone to treat you like a friend and could use some help picking out some new hardware for your peepers. I will definitely be back...and refer as many people as possible...first, naggin the husband. read more

These guys are most accommodating. On two separate occasions they repaired and or replaced out of warranty glasses saying this "should not have happened" and made the replacement without charge to me. Dr. Benjarmin Peters is the finest eye doctor I've ever come its contact with. I feel very fortunate to have him as my doctor. He has a very kind caring and welcoming manner about him and makes you feel very comfortable as he's speaking with you about your eye issue which is a huge plus for me because being a caregiver I can get anxious very easily when faced with something being wrong with my eyes. He is always readily available whenever I am having an eye issue or if I have questions or concerns about my eyes which is also a plus because many doctors are not that attentive to their patients.He is so good at what he does that I have referred my mother, father and fiancee to him. I would highly recommend Dr. Peters to anyone looking for a really good eye doctor.As for the Eyesite office-It is very new, nice and clean and the equipment seems to be the newest and most innovative out there. They also do an excellent job of keeping me on target for my appointments and telemed conferences by sending me reminders which is very helpful to me as I am extremely busy being a caregiver etc and it can be quite difficult at times to keep all of my obligations straight.
